I'll go home and test the QT AC3 component. Very good work, darkten!
In regards to the QT components, here are a couple that lots of people would like for Intel Macs:
http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/ : ogg vorbis!! (you can use .ogg in iTunes)
http://www.pyehouse....nn/lamework.php : LAME MP3 encoder
It would be nice to have these converted to x86 binary.

Audacity would be really great.
I think it already is:

"Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems."
Also would like to see note edit working in Mac OS X and OSx86.

Check it out Lilypond has a version for Mac:

The best dvd burning software out there much better than nero or ultra is K3B. People that use it will never want to go back to the lame ones.
"K3b - The CD/DVD Kreator for Linux - optimized for KDE - licensed under the GPL"
i find it surprising they haven't made a mac and windows version:
http://www.k3b.org/
the free bsd port is at the very bottom of the downloads link.

Latest Thunderbird Nightly Build.
Thought server error but 1.5 (20051109) (installed when released) & possibly todays nightly (although might be same profile) prob have bug 185186 (IMAP exceeded maximum connections).
Error occurred 2-3 days ago & latest may have trashed most accounts (fixed with Joshes latest intel build).

I know this isn't exactly a program, but what I would like are some TV card drivers similar to the open source drivers that are a part of V4L (video for Linux) that work with the Linux kernel-- specifically the bttv driver (which works for my card better than the commercial driver on windows).

Well... I've gotten as far as getting the mac OSX source code for Visual Boy Advance to compile as an Intel binary. Unfortunately when I load games I just get a blank screen.

Can someone compile a decent CLI version of Mplayer (with all codecs) from CVS ?
Would be very nice to have a lightweight videoplayer that's fast and efficient =)

I would love to have soundflower which is a sound driver that lets you plug audio between any two devices. I use it to record skype and a mic to Garageband as two seperate tracks. It is a multitrack device, think of it as a virutal audio patch cable.
It is open source and the source (including xcode project) can be downloaded here.
http://www.cycling74...ads/soundflower
I tried to compile it myself but there were errors that I don't know how to resolve.

Sorry if this got covered already in another thread or something; I'm too caught up in the joy of having it work!
[Edit: Maybe I spoke too soon; it works with some ROM images, but not all. Progress....]
[Edit 2: The ROMs I had that break it are GZip compressed; uncompressing them makes them work.]

May I ask where you found the source for VBA on their site? It seems pretty well hidden

I used the 1.7.2 source (the latest non-beta version) for the non-OS X-specific parts. The 1.7.4 xcode project is under 1.7.1 for some reason (I'm assuming this is because 1.7.4 is an OS X-only version that used the platform-independent 1.7.1 source).
SDL (edit: and libpng) still needs to be installed and built, though, and you'll need to "upgrade" the VBA build target, remove the references to GCC 3.3, and make sure that the "Architectures" build setting is set to $(NATIVE_ARCH) (or "i386 ppc" if you want to build universal).
(Aside: This has got me totally motivated now, and I think I might spend some time cleaning up the UI a bit and seeing if I can fix some other issues. I might not have the patience or current skills to do this now, but I can sure try...).
Edit 2 (after the below post): I forgot this: You will also need to go to the "Rules" tab of the target's info window and delete all of the rules pointing to GCC 3.x.

I can't get it to compile.. "Command /Developer/Private/Jam failed with exit code 1" i fixed everything I believe, so I have no idea :/
EDIT: It won't compile openfile.mm.. no idea why.
EDIT 2: WTF? It keeps jumping between openfile.mm and flash.cpp..this is driving me insane!
