  1. Clover General discussion

Hi Slice, I'm not sure I need a connector patch for the ATI Radeon HD 5450 because I'm using it on a desktop using VGA cable to 1 monitor and it works fine. Would I would like your input on is a sound lag problem I'm facing ever since switching to Clover from Chameleon. I noticed whenever there isn't a lot of CPU activity, the sound seems to lag with pops/clicks every so often when playing movies (mp4 files) using QuickLook as well as now with the DVD Player. Have you heard about or encountered such a problem yet? If so, can you give me any hints on how I could fix this. Thanks again.
  2. Clover General discussion

Slice, thanks for the great Clover boot loader. I was wondering how I can get the device id for my Radeon HD 5450 video card added to Clover? The details of my HIS ATI Radeon HD 5450 card, which uses the Eulemur framebuffer, are: device id (0x68F91002) (ven: 0x1002, dev: 0x68f9, subsys: 0x20091787) Thank you again.
  3. I got my RTL8139 working in SL on my 945GZT-M by removing the AppleHPET.kext extension. What are you guys using for sound under SL? I'm currently using AppleAzaliaAudio.kext as I couldn't get VoodaHDA to work. It seems this board has the Realtek ALC883 codec.
  4. Using the ToH XNU source

Has anyone had any luck compiling and patching the xnu-1456.1.26 kernel sources for use in Snow Leopard? I'm using modbin's 10a432 kernel currently and it works great but it doesn't support 64-bit apps so I'm trying to add that support to the sources to enable it for my Pentium-D. I almost have a kernel that works on my Pentium-D but it hangs after the 'BSD root: disk0s2, major 14, minor 2' print. Normally after that it prints a few 'com.apple.launchd' lines but not with the kernel that I built and I don't know why. I followed this guide to get the kernel to compile under snow leopard. So far I have made the following changes to the sources: * remove the CPUID checks in cpuid_set_info() in osfmk/i386/cpuid.c: Specifically the cpuid_family and cpuid_model panic * change 'cpufamily = CPUFAMILY_UNKNOWN' to 'cpufamily = CPUFAMILY_INTEL_6_14' in bsd/kern/kern_mib.c * comment out cpuid_family check in tsc_init() on line x in osfmk/i386/tsc.c. Specifically comment out this code: if (cpuid_info()->cpuid_family != CPU_FAMILY_PENTIUM_M) { panic("tsc_init: unknown CPU family: 0x%X\n", cpuid_info()->cpuid_family); } * comment out following lines in commpage_stuff_routine() on line x in osfmk/i386/commpage/commpage.c: if ((cur_routine!=0) && (matched==0)) panic("commpage no match for last, next address %08lx", rd->commpage_address); These were the only changes that were required to get a working kernel for Leopard but obviously things have changed in Snow leopard.
  5. Yeah, I had the same problem and fixed it by using the 'debug boot' file that HBP112358 said to use. I also tried using Netkas' 10.2 beta boot file and it worked for me also. Netkas' 10.1 boot file didn't work for me. See here
  6. I'm seeing the DVD Player quit when an iso file image is mounted. The system.log shows: "Error getting a reference to /options" Earlier in the system.log I see this print: "Error getting a reference to IODeviceTree:/options" Regular DVD movies using DVD drive play ok. Is anyone else seeing this problem? Some googling reveals it might be related to AppleSMBIOS.kext and/or AppleEFIRuntime.kext. I'm using the stock versions of these kext's but maybe we need a modded version of AppleSMBIOS.kext for our hack's? My rig consists of ECS 945GZT-M with a Pentium-D. The only modifications I've done to the stock SL install are as follows: * I'm using Chameleon 2.0 RC1 with modbin's 432 kernel, IOATAFamily.kext from 10.5.8, fakesmc.kext, dsdt.aml. I have also removed AppleHPET.kext to get my RTL8139 network card to work.
  7. Thank you HBP112358 so much. Using your 'debug boot' file I was able to install SL and am using it now currently.
  8. I'm trying to boot SL on my Pentium-D ECS 945GZT-M system but I keep seeing kernel panics very early in the boot process (after the extensions are loaded). It says something about 'MAC OS Version: Not yet set' and BSD process 'unknown'. I don't have a camera to take a screenshot of the KP but this is similar to what I see: The one in the picture is from an x64 boot but I see the same panic on my x32 boot using modbin's kernel. I installed Chameleon RC1 and using netkas' PC EFI v10.1. I tried various things...dsdt.aml, replacing IOATAFamily.kext with the 10.5.8 version GUID and MBR installs but nothing seems to work. The dsdt.aml that was generated for my motherboard already has the RTC length=2 change. I'm out of ideas...Has anyone else seen this same thing and found a fix for it? This is strange, my leo install is working great with no modified kexts..all I need is a custom kernel. Thanks a lot.
  9. Nevermind, I found the fix. It's a bug in the update. Seems any java apps that reference JavaApplicationStub via a symlink won't work. You can launch apps w/ "java -jar app.jar" as a workaround until it's fixed. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?t...6&tstart=45
  10. Has anyone had any luck installing and using the Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1/2 updates on a Hackint0sh? My apps crash when launched. I get the same result (java apps crash) when using 10.5.4 using the ToH/stageXNU kernel as well as the newer 10.5.5 w/ the voodoo kernel. I have a Pentium D box.
  11. Some details are posted here: http://news.worldofapple.com/archives/2008...ble-seed-notes/
  12. iTunes 7.6.1 Released

Just goto http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ The ver you d/l from here is 7.6.1
  13. I just tried launching Chess on my PentiumD (EM64T) box w/ netkas' SSE3 kernel and it crashes with 'Bus error'. Chess is an x64 app as seen here: [tomcat:/] me% file /Applications/Chess.app/Contents/MacOS/Chess /Applications/Chess.app/Contents/MacOS/Chess: Mach-O universal binary with 4 architectures /Applications/Chess.app/Contents/MacOS/Chess (for architecture ppc): Mach-O executable ppc /Applications/Chess.app/Contents/MacOS/Chess (for architecture ppc64): Mach-O 64-bit executable ppc64 /Applications/Chess.app/Contents/MacOS/Chess (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386 /Applications/Chess.app/Contents/MacOS/Chess (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64 [tomcat:/] me% So I was thinking it might be related to this so I stripped out the x32 binary using this cmd and sure enough, it works fine now. ditto --rsrc --arch i386 /Applications/Chess.app /Applications/Chess_x86.app
  14. zydas wireless for leopard 10.5

Same problem here on ZD1211. /var/log/system.log shows this: Oct 26 19:24:38 leo-acpi [0x0-0xe00e].tw.com.zydas.80211.g[139]: Could not get ID for kernel control. 15. Zydas is working on an x86 wireless driver

Anyone else try their ZD1211 based Wireless USB dongle under Leopard yet? I just tried and used the ZDA211MacUSB_install_4_5_7_0.dmg driver and it doesn't work. I see these errors in the system.log Oct 26 19:24:38 ns-acpi [0x0-0xe00e].tw.com.zydas.80211.g[139]: Could not get ID for kernel control.
