MS say that GMA 900 will be supported in 2 places.

1. It says that it has to support Direct X 9, which GMA 900 does.

2. The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor says that I will get Aero.

I have an fx5200 so i get aero, but i dont hink its soo good

the animations seem to be alot longer than those of osx so it makes the system seem slow :D

its exactly the same on my m8s comp with a 7800 so its defo not just my graphics card.

it may improve tho :D

tbh osx with no qe/ci is more responsive feeling.

vista on a whole seems alot beter than xp, what really impressed me was how radical the layout for office 2007 is tho, its one of the best things i have seem from ms. :D

Yes you should be able to run Aero. My fx5200 on my lappy can run Aero. The only thing is that you won't be able to run 'Aero Glass' ie. you can turn window transparency on.

I tried about five times to boot 5384.4 no luck. Same problem with 5342 but I had no problems dual booting prior to that. I'm in a major OS boot phase right now. I couldn't get OSx86 booted up either.

Surprised nobody posted this video. I'm sure most of you have seen where Micro$oft is getting their ideas for Vista from, but incase you missed it, take a look.

That video was AWSOME!! Thanks for the laugh, I'm gonna send it to all my friends that tell me Vista is the future and that I should get rid of my mac (idiots).

I installed this public beta and compared to my previous 5308 build - it is much stabler, faster, and shows potential. I installed on a dimension 2400 with 256 RAM, even though microsoft says minimum of 512 - THATS RIGHT, I DID IT. Like a bad*ss. I put an nvidia 6200 PCI card - old skool baby, and with some work, finally got it to work with aero glass. The 256 RAM was alright - very borderline - things like media center struggle to open, and even web browsing seems to have its limits. I remember i installed 5308 on my dell inspiron 5150 and it ran very well - some stability issues, but overall good (and there's no "vista ready" sticker on it... psh... who needs that...)

Anyways, I uninstalled vista on my dimension 2400 to install mac. Something i didn't get a chance to do was try the bittorrent engines. Not that i use them, i just found it curious that they didn't seem to work for anyone on the internet for the 5308 build. Wonder if that was on purpose, or a mistake that might now have been corrected... My friend tells me that on his build, he can only use a certain bittorrent engine - forgot the name - azureus i think.

I would not recomend installing ether because Vista is quite buggy. I have been testing it since early Beta One and they have come a long way but have alot farther to go. Vista won't be as good as server 2003 set up as a desk top (I didnt beleve it ether but it runs better and faster than xp in the x86 enviroment, and you can make it look and function the same but it will still run faster) I am going to go back to server 2003 and ubuntu until Vista sp1 at least but if you are going to install it on a macbook you have to use the 32 bit version because it is not an 64 bit proc.

The 64bit version is also buggier. I installed both and the official beta2 is still very buggy and boggy. However, the newer 32bit 5456 build is extremely usable and far more optimized then the 5384 build. Aero rocks too. Of course, I'm not running these on a Mac either, so, ymmv, but one of my vista systems is nearly a mac from it's chipsets etc.
