iPhone beats Windows Mobile in Sales

This is quite the achievement for Apple. Windows Mobile 6 really is pretty nice though.

I never thought Windows mobile was really any reliable to begin with....

I never thought people ACTUALLY used Windows Mobile smartphones.

I find this hard to believe. Do you know how many Windows Mobile Smart-Phones have been bought in HISTORY? And how many devices run Windows Mobile. There is no way Apple could sell that many in it's short amount of time. And you have to consider that some people use different browsers on their Smart Phones.

This is good and all, but OS X iPhone edition and Windows Mobile aren't really comparable platforms. At all.

Anyway, What the hell is the difference, Microsoft or Apple, both companies Suck, they try everything to steal people's money. At least, with microsoft you can install their product wherever you want, with Apple noooooooo, you're not allowed to install any Apple product in non-apple hardware.

These stats are based on a 3 month period which included the release date of the iphone. My work requires software which only runs on windows mobile, and my girlfriend's requires software that only runs on blackberry. iphone has no 3rd party apps for businesses to take advantage of. I'll let my business buy me a $300 phone if it's not as cool as the $300 I would have to spend my own money on.

You like Linux - use it. I tried it for almost 4 years.

Now I just want to buy a computer, launch it and have everything I want for a comfortable living.

No freaking troubles with tuning my distro.

Linux has his pros, but also a huge cons.

You gota be a spec or minimum an average user.

Not so sure about this. Of course, Apple only wants their OS on Apple computers! But, one can install Quicktime, iTunes, Bonjour, etc on any supported OS. Further, MS has stopped making Windows Media Player for Mac, their WMA files WILL NOT PLAY on any other OS (unlike Apple which uses media open standards), the Zune ONLY works with Windows, etc, etc.

Talk about proprietary, MS's XBOX doesn't even use standard HARD DRIVES! With the iPod, I can pull out the 1.8" HD and put in any Toshiba 1.8" HD, restore system software, and I'm back in business. Heck, MS even wanted to have the rights to a proprietary version of Java (an OPEN standard!). WMA, Zune, Xbox, NTFS, etc, etc- NO ONE is more proprietary than MS!

I'm the most excited about when the iPhone SDK get's released...I hope it lives up to my expectations.

It could change the entire game for the iPhone, if it's seen as a platform, not just a device. You will see the iPhone really wipe the floor with the competition.

On another note, it's interesting to compare the sales results in the USA with the rest of the world, quite a contrast! Symbian is still the dominant force globally, with iPhone very much still a niche. Look here at the data here.

This report makes no sense, of course it beat windows mobile in sales, it's for a short period of time just after launch. If the figures were for the first 24 hours after launch I'm sure the iphone would have made up 98% of all smartphone sales. This is a useless figure merely for hype. Not to mention I've heard people I know talk about the iphone and when I mention I'd rather have a full fledged pocket pc phone a couple people didn't even know they existed. I wouldn't want one for windows mobile of course, but one for installing linux.
