Current 10.4.3 Build Includes Intel iTunes

hatoncat

Many sources have reported that the latest build of Mac OS X 10.4.3 seeded to developers includes an Intel-compiled version of iTunes. Previously, iTunes was the only major non-system application to be PowerPC-only. It is now a Universal Binary but does have some ongoing known issues with it; Apple has cautioned developers of these issues as minor and will be resolved shortly.

cool....an intel iTunes would definitely be a welcome sight.

edit: one thing i am concerned about though, is interfacing with dashboard widgets. Should that matter? I've got at least 2 dashboard widgets interfacing with iTunes right now...in the future might have 3.

IMO i want an iTunes that doesn't take up 300+ megs of real memory and ~600 megs of virtual memory.

Though I do agree about the newer interface being nicer.

Hello, I would like to know the performance of the AAC encoder in the Intel native version of iTunes compared to the PPC version of iTunes on x86. I mean the speed of the encoding! ;) Like 4x 6.5x and so on... ;)

Thank you,

it's called a kernel panic. You made the kernel panic because you didn't salute him so he didn't know what language you speak. Just tell him you speak english and you should be good.

And smile, the kernel hates soldiers who do not smile! :P
