mackeks
hello aquamac... i have GeForce 9800 GTX + plus 1 Gig of ram on it... I have installed 10.5.3 update kalway and running vanilla kernel motherboard is AB9Quad GT running Quad Core clocked at 3.2 ghz. I am using EFI 9 with strings that I pulled form new OSX86Tools under Add EFI strings ... everything works without NVInject and I get quartz support and all but my FPS are 4 times slower then yours? Maybe my strings are not good? Thanks edit: After I upgraded to 10.5.6 now i get incredible nubers and it says its using the new engine 9800 gtx + on opengl extension viewer.. taylorutah
something just made my mouse start lagging again. Was perfect. I have no idea what triggered it. i've read elsewhere stuff about flashing the video card, seems extreme? anyone else having lag issues? ViniciusMaran
taylorutah, try to make a backup of AppleUpStream...(i don't remember the full name ).kext and remove it of /System/Library/Extensios/. Then repair the disk permissions and the magic is done. adam1972
The 9800 GTX was giving me nightmares too... The only way I got it to work was by making sure that my com.apple.boot.plist in the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration was vanilla.. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">'>http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> </dict> </plist> and then I ran OSX86Tools and told it to add the EFI strings to my com.apple.boot.plist. Since I'm also running Chameleon RC1 I took the now modified /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist and copied it. I took the copy and placed it into the /Extra/com.apple.boot.plist and added the -f to make sure it loads everything... Then recovered the now modified /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist and reverted it back to it's Vanilla state. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>debug=0x100</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>3</string> <key>-f</key> <string></string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>4b00000001000000010000003f0000000100000002010c00d041030a0100000001010600041c0 01060000007fff0400160000006200750069006c0074002d0069006e0000000500000001</string> </dict> </plist> I also have the debug=0x100 string so in case I get a crash, instead of getting that grey screen with the you need to restart bit, I get an actual error that will help me troubleshoot the problem. I also had to install NVDarwin to get full support out of the card. It wouldn't work with just one or the other by itself. The only issue I've got with the 9800 GTX though is using a second monitor.. I have a Cintiq 21 UX drawing tablet as a second monitor, I DON'T need it or use it all the time. I'm running into an issue that if it's connected my card wants to use it and I have to literally unplug it from the card. If I disable my Cintiq by turning it off after the videocard has sensed it, my primary screen never recovers... I get noise all over the screen. I have to do a power cycle on the pc to get my screen back. When I get done using the Cintiq I have to shut down the pc and disconnect the Cintiq because turning it off will cause the primary screen to once again fill the screen with noise. Anyone have any ideas on this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98666-9800-gtx-working-in-osx86/page/19/#findComment-1191789 Share on other sites
paofneele
Hi dear all, I am using iAtkos V7 and have this issue: My specs: lntel Q6700 Asus P5K 4 GB Ram Nvidia 9800 GTX 512 MB I cant get the Nvidia 9800 GTX run with QE/CI enabled. according to the system profiler, QE is not supported and CI is set to software. what i tried so far: -gone through aquamacs GFX strings walkthrough --- no success -I'm using chameleon 2, so I copied /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist to /Extra --- noc success -booted from iAtkos V7 again and chose "DVI/DVI" --- no success -booted from iAtkos V7 again and chose different enablers --- no success What exactly do I have to do to get it fully running? Varcolacu
Ok, so here's my problem ... I got an iAtkos 10.5.7 with an nVidia GeForce 9800 GT 512 ... with a dual head ... I installed a few drivers, managed to do some Gfx strings, ... a lot of stuff Allmost every time my rezolution is great (1650x1050 + 1280x1024) but no OpenGL ... I'm pretty sure this has been answered before and i'm just to lazy to read it all ... But can someone point me in the right direction? ^^ I've tried the OpenGL Framework, etc, the plists ... I keep seeing people with 9800 working, but can't figure it out I'm also kinda new to OS X ... meaning i had an JaS 10.4.8, but it got a lot old, and ... you know, Leopard is better ^^ ... And i got just about the same System Profile as paofneele QE/CI - none Thanks in advance to any advice BTW : I attatched a screenshot of my OpenGL , i know it's lame ^^ Att.tiff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98666-9800-gtx-working-in-osx86/page/19/#findComment-1198611 Share on other sites
archer75
I have a 9800GTX. This is what I did. With both 10.5.6 and 10.5.7 discs I just install the OS with no video card selection at all. Then I use OSX86 tools to install the EFI strings for the 9800GTX. Done. Fully functional. aqua-mac
You need a later version of OSX to run a 9 series card than 10.5.2. You will get the card going if memory serves me right in 10.5.3, but to be recognised as a 9800 GTX/GTX+ you will need 10.5.6 std drivers or 10.5.3 with hacked drivers as Page 1 of this thread. Extensions.mkext is in your System/Contents folder. Depending on which method you are using (some kind of injector like NVInject) connect your HDD to another mac and remove the file (NVInject or NVDarwin whatever) from your System/Contents/Extensions folder or put your old card back in. cmraseye
have a pny xlr8 9800 GT w/512 M running with a i7 920 and the latest Leo. Everything 'looks' ok, except when running a CRT monitor into the VGA port, I cannot select a resolution. The OSX 'chooses' a lower than capable resolution (different for each CRT I tried). If I try to change it, I get the blue screen. I can force a higher resolution on startup (gray screen) using the plist, but then it reverts to a lower reso. Any LCD I tried into the DVI port works fine! Help!!! I'd like to run my high resolution graphics CRT monitors. Optimango
I've got an eVGA 9600 GTX+ card with 512MB of memory and a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P mobo. I posted a while back on a separate thread about a problem I'm having with flickering, but I haven't gotten a response there. I've managed to do installs of Kalyway 10.5.2 and iDeneb 10.5.6. Both work quite well except for a screen flicker problem that's quite annoying. I notice it most in dark regions like the background to the iTunes album view and iPhoto event view. I can also see some faint flickering if I have a desktop background with darker areas. It seems to affect the entire screen, so I was thinking it was a refresh rate problem. My monitor tells me it's refreshing at 60Hz, which is normal for it. Would different drivers work better? I've been using NVInject, and that seems to work the best for me aside from this problem. I've tried some other drivers, but they don't work as well--no QE/CI or no picture at all. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. I am having the exact same issue with my Asus 9800GTX+ dark knight. Running it on a Gigabyte EP45-DS4. I have a samsung LCD. siriuxs
All you need to do to get it to work is Video injection thru dsdt, maybe efi strings too.I used ACPI Patcher to generate video part for my Zotac 9800gt eco 1 gig and the dsdt.aml is ALL that is required to get it to work for Leopard 10.5.7 as well as Snow Leopard. Very thanks for your disponibility, but I am a novice, and I don't understood the step... Please explain me a step to follow... Owkey, so i had the problem with the most annoying screen flicker. Especially with the grey backgrounds like iTunes and iMovie. I found a workaround to this problem by changing the color profile! instead of the recommended syncmaster profile i selected "generic RGB". -> problem solved! mrquiros1980
Hi. I have Leo 10.5.8 and everithing looks fine. The graphic card looks to be working correctly but I've tried a game, Lego Indiana Jones, not a graphical "beast" like Crysis for ejample, and sometimes the framerate goes down drastically. Also the depth of field doesnt work, as the area out of focus appears completely black and also there are some textures issues when I activate this. Is the game or is my card? Thanks! BTW, the drivers where installed from the Leopard installation (ideneb lite 1.6), NVDarwin. THX
Hi guys! Try Aquamac's GFX strings method it's work for me without any problems, except mouse glitches while i'm running itunes or quicktime. But, seems it may be fixed by deleting AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext from /System/Library/Extensions/ or you can disable this kext sudo -s kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext and then, if it solve the problem, delete it. Unfortunately i haven't try this method yet... When i come home i'll check this. Sorry my poor english upd: it's works! Also you can download Disabler.kext to fix glitches from here Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98666-9800-gtx-working-in-osx86/page/19/#findComment-1286383 Share on other sites
