  1. 9800 GTX working in OSX86

The 9800 GTX was giving me nightmares too... The only way I got it to work was by making sure that my com.apple.boot.plist in the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration was vanilla.. and then I ran OSX86Tools and told it to add the EFI strings to my com.apple.boot.plist. Since I'm also running Chameleon RC1 I took the now modified /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist and copied it. I took the copy and placed it into the /Extra/com.apple.boot.plist and added the -f to make sure it loads everything... Then recovered the now modified /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist and reverted it back to it's Vanilla state. I also have the debug=0x100 string so in case I get a crash, instead of getting that grey screen with the you need to restart bit, I get an actual error that will help me troubleshoot the problem. I also had to install NVDarwin to get full support out of the card. It wouldn't work with just one or the other by itself. The only issue I've got with the 9800 GTX though is using a second monitor.. I have a Cintiq 21 UX drawing tablet as a second monitor, I DON'T need it or use it all the time. I'm running into an issue that if it's connected my card wants to use it and I have to literally unplug it from the card. If I disable my Cintiq by turning it off after the videocard has sensed it, my primary screen never recovers... I get noise all over the screen. I have to do a power cycle on the pc to get my screen back. When I get done using the Cintiq I have to shut down the pc and disconnect the Cintiq because turning it off will cause the primary screen to once again fill the screen with noise. Anyone have any ideas on this?
  2. AlienWare vs Leopard

Have you tried going into the Midi settings (in the utilities folder) and playing with the settings? I remember it worked for my desktop once I got the AC97 drivers to work enough to get my volume slider to display, then it was all about tinkering with the input channel settings for the audio. I just finished downloading the final yesterday... Also planning on installing on an Msi Wind u100...
  3. AlienWare vs Leopard

So didja install it? Ihave an Alienware M9700 and got Le0 V3 installed after a looong wait during the DVD's bootup to the install screen. USB works cause I can plug the mouse into any USB port and it works, trackpad works as wel, dvd drive is recognized and as far as I can tell it works too. Oddly I couldn't get it to recognize a USB thumb drive that I copied some OSX tools from my other Hackingtosh (of which I FINALLY got the Realtek SB400 AC97 ALC655 audio working last night as well ). I'll be looking into the whole EFI strings tonight and scour some more of the forums for working kexts for the Video Card and AC97 Audio tonigh... Hope I've got another working Hackingtosh on my hands
  4. Mobility Radeon 9000 thread

Is there anything about these drivers that would be causing my Dell D600 (Mobility Radeon 9000)? I used Jas's 10.4.8 AMD Intel release which worked fine except for the graphics... I keep getting crashes just opening some programs.. Like I attempted to open Parallels today and it closes with the same graphic error (at least as far as I can tell.. something about an 8500 and opengl.. a window server error I believe... ) as when I try and watch a DVD, watch a movie on Itunes and play chess. I read that previously Freakymac's opengl file help this situation?
  5. Where do i install mac?

:censored2: I just started installing "JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskutil.biker880.ich -R.patch.Integrated" on my M9700... At first it didn't recognize the disk... NOTHING showed up when I was starting the install and it asked me for the disk I was wanting to install to. I started goofing around with the menus up on top of the screen and chose the "Disk Utilities". When I started the disk utilities it showed me my drive on the left side of the screen ( I only have 1 "120 gb" SATA hard drive) and it had been partitioned by my linux "UBUNTU" install I had performed yesterday (talk about a nightmare install). I chose it and it asked me if I wanted to erase it.. I chose the first option option for the type of Mac file system and then I hit "erase".. It completed and I then quit the "disk Utilities" and it returned me to the install... WITH MY DISK AVAILABLE FOR INSTALL!!!! It recognizes it as SATA as well... I'll let ya'll know how it ends up!!!!
