yonyz
Ok, got it now. I have seen installation screens from iTkios DVD and i am positive on saying that it does contain itsd own drivers, just like Kalyway, also there is iTkios installation guide somewhere here, you will have to look it up and switch because this is Kaly guide... Is there a iATKOS guide for those P35 GIGABYTE motherboards? i*C
pcwiz suggested me to go with 76xx gt instead of 86xx so I did and everything worked great. I think 76xx are the closest ones used in real macs. ~pcwiz
I think with the exception of the PnP USB problem that is still there macciti answered these like a true champ Guru, thank you so much macciti, saves me tons of time. For the graphics card question, yes the 7600GT or any 7xxx series card for that matter is easier to get to work than the 8xxx cards. All you do for the 7 series is install NVinject and it all works out! For the 8600GT you need Punk92's NVIDIA installer I believe. I've already done all the updates except the graphic updates (am waiting to get 3870 to work first) and your installer that was included with the guide. so im wondering if i went too far ahead in the guide for me to install sound? ~pcwiz
suicida1.nun, No it is not too late to do the installer, the installer can be used at any time as long as you are on 10.5.2 I recommend you apply the graphics updates/drivers before installing my package. To boot from the Kalyway DVD, put it in, restart, at the Gigabyte splash screen press F12 and from the menu select CD-ROM Good luck macciti, Thank you times a million for voting, I really appreciate it! I remember the problem, yes, and I'm glad I got it fixed! The problem for me on Windows XP earlier (after I installed Vista its fixed) was because I was using VGA. Anyway, thank you Roarsaur, Good, tell me how it goes! i*C
i have broken my sleep mode somehow, it used to work ok before i switched dvi to vga monitor and switched from wireless keyboard to regualar one... My BIOS set to S1 in power managment so when i click on 'sleep' it puts my monitor to sleep but keeps my fans running, (HD is off because there is no light visible) I have tried to change to S3 but instead of going to sleep it turns my box off I have reinstalle sleep kernel but no luck... any suggestions? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90795-guide-installer-leopard-gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3pds3rds4-1052-efi/page/17/#findComment-704542 Share on other sites
~pcwiz
I think it might be because you switched your monitor to VGA, try putting it back to DVI and see if sleep works At least you know then that its causing the problem. zonker
Do I still need to run your installer AFTER the kalway kernal pkg? I installed the vanilla and my shutdown/restart works fine. discmeister
I can confirm that deleting AppleHWSensor.kext from extensions solved the long boot delay. The USB problem solution linked to below does seem to cure the problem in terms of inserting a USB flash memory stick AFTER startup. However, I suspect the problem still occurs if the machine goes to sleep and is then woken. Hope this helps some people. Discy Further digging around on the forums here indicates that deleting AppleHWSensor.kext from extensions might solve the long boot delay with 512Mb 8800GT. There would also appear to be a solution for the USB problem here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=95789 I'm going to try these solutions this evening and will report back. Then I'm likely to wipe the hard disk (it's a noisy old one; new one is ordered) and reinstall using 10.5.2 Kalyway... I just realised that I don't think I've said thank you to pcwiz for a terrific guide, and for spending so much time on here helping folks. So thanks. Do I need 9.2.2?Installer contains video, sound drivers, sleep or speedstep vanilla and somr ps2 fixes, if you have sound, internet, video than you are ok...about 9.2.2kernel, its not urgent in fact it might brake your sleep, shut down or restart. In fact a lot of people here on forum are telling that it updates some other files so in case update doused problems there is no downgrade. Wait for 10.5.3 update it will come with this kernel. But, if you like to experiment, try it and report here Newegg doesn't seem to carry the DS3P or DS3R anymore and I can't seem to find them listed at several trusted online stores either. Try PCCLub.com they have pretty good prices and in some cases, free shipping. Not only are they online, but they have several stores across the US so there may be one near you where you can go buy it and have it in your hands same day. EDIT: Just checked. PC CLub has the Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R in stock for US $139.99. If there is a store near you, they have sale flyers with some really great deals on parts from MB/Processor combos to RAM, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90795-guide-installer-leopard-gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3pds3rds4-1052-efi/page/17/#findComment-705059 Share on other sites
yonyz
Hi everyone, I got Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD, and here are the results: I can boot with my LG GSA-H55N IDE optical drive. I installed Leopard on a new partition (I already have XP installed), but I couldn't use Leopard, cause I can't enter my details with my PS/2 keyboard. So I set XP as the boot partition, and I get that error: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll Please re-install a copy of the above file." So I deleted the Leopard HFS+ (Mac OS Extended Journaled) partition, and I got to the Windows LOGO, and after the bar starts moving, the PC restarts. So I restored the "BIOS Optimized Defaults" settings, and now XP is working fine. 2 questions: Is there a PS/2 to USB adapter so I can use my PS/2 keyboard with Leopard? What can I do about the partition problem with XP, and the BIOS settings, that also makes XP not working? Thanks in advance. I am a strong believer in installing OS X on separate hard drive, not partition. How did you format your partition for OS X (mrb or guid)? As far as i remember you have to format as guid if you want to boot to os x from the same drive as xp. about your 2nd question, you will have to research i dont know Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90795-guide-installer-leopard-gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3pds3rds4-1052-efi/page/17/#findComment-705107 Share on other sites
zonker
I agree. I have separate HD's. One for WinXP Home and one with two Mac partions. Using one HD for both and you run the risk of losing and having to reinstall both if one gets messed up. On another note. I used agrafuese' tutorial for EFI strings for my 512Mb 8800GT. The only thing I needed from the installer from this tutorial was the ICH9 and Audio drivers and my hack is running great. I am learning, and have learned, a lot from this community and am very appreciative. I am getting more comfortable with terminal. Thanks to all the geniuses who have figured this stuff out. I know I couldn't have done it. yonyz
I agree that it is best to install Mac OS on a separate HD, but I don't have that, so I'm trying to get the most out of my machine, without spending too much money. I already Dual booted Vista and iATKOS v1.0ir2 successfully, but I hate Vista, so I came back to XP, and dual booted it with iATKOS v1.0ir2, successfully too, but with no sound, video and wifi drivers, so the operating system was pretty much useless. I selected GUID in the installation. In iATKOS, I didn't touch it at all. If I would set it to GUID instead of MBR, it won't screw my XP installation? And how about using a PS2 to USB adapter? When you partition your partition as mbr and install os x it automaticly sets the os x partition as active and you will not be able to log into windows... thats what happened with your installation... If you want to boot into Windows, you will have to install a new bootloader (e.g. GRUB) or you will have to use fdisk to set the Windows partition as active and use the chain0 method to boot OS X (more on the chain0 method here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Chain0). This involves placing the chain0 boot file from the install DVD in your C: drive and editing boot.ini to add Mac OS X as a boot option. I took this from oficial Kalyway documentation. To be clear... Everything is out there... yahoo! is your friend :censored2: Here is the updated link http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...earch/Chain0%29 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90795-guide-installer-leopard-gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3pds3rds4-1052-efi/page/17/#findComment-705299 Share on other sites
