Spursboy Liv
Current OS X Version: Leo4All v3 (Leopard 10.5.2) Desktop/Laptop? Laptop Prebuilt? Y (If prebuilt then add following information, otherwise fill the Motherboard:) Manufacturer: HP Model: Pavilion DV2054EA Install Methods summary: Installation was fine, without any major problems, although the NVinject video kexts didnt work so I had to remove them in safe mode and load up the VESA kexts. I also installed the MacBook AppleSMBIOS, all audio and network kexts and ACPIPlatform. I also installed without any extra peripherals attached. I currently dual boot with Windows Vista using the Darwin/x86 bootloader - 60GB dedicated to Vista because I originally used it far more for obvious reasons, and 30GB to Leopard. I got the "HFS+ partition error" straight after installation, so I used this website to instruct me on how to fix it; http://www.jaideawhosting.com/nolifelover/...e-head-banging/ Does EFI and/or the Vanilla kernel work? Yes, partitioned as MBR, EFI v8 + Vanilla Kernel 9.2.2 Manufacturer: N\A Motherboard Model: N\A Chipset: Intel BIOS Version: N\A, Revision: N\A - Unsure, but I know it uses Phoenix BIOS. BIOS setup options: Default settings work fine Audio: Intel HD Audio, no but worked after installing the AzaliaAudio package LAN: Intel PRO\100 Ethernet, WOOTB. SATA & IDE: Intel ICH7-M AHCI, WOOTB. Processor Processor Model: Intel Core Duo T2300E Speed: 1.66GHz Recognized as what in System Profiler: Genuine Intel CPU T2300 @ Video Card What type of card: Mobile PCI-E NVIDIA/ATI/Intel? NVIDIA Model: GeForce Go 7200 Memory: Up to 128MB with TurboCache Board Manufacturer: N\A Patches used: Firstly, I had to remove the pre-installed NVinject kexts, so in safe mode I removed them and loaded up with VESA. I then installed NVinjectGO 0.20c, and then Leopard Graphics Update 1.0. QE/CI: Supported/Hardware Accelerated All resolutions available? No, all resolutions from 640x480 to 1280x800 only. Yes, OOTB Other Accessories (USB/FIREWIRE) Type: Bluetooth Name: Integrated Bluetooth Manufacturer: HP (although displays as Broadcom in System Profiler) Works? Yes, OOTB Other notes: 1. Mouse scroll doesn't work 2. Card reader is untested, but there is no sign of its presence in Leopard 3. QuickPlay buttons do not work, apart from the volume control buttons - Increase, Decrease and Mute 4. Laptop screen doesn't "wake up"\stays black upon resuming from standby, or due to inactivity 5. Photo Booth works for basic use (recording video or taking standard photos) but Effects is very unstable, a lot of the time it automatically closes and an error message appears. Apart from those minor issues at best and also after a few hours of researching and scouring the web for the post-installation fine tuning and tweaking, it is running beautifully and it has taken to me so much that it has overtaken Vista as my primary OS! . All your work is greatly appreciated so many thanks for creating the OSX86 experience! Liv

Jim5055
Current OS X Version: 10.5.2 Leo4Allv3 Desktop/Laptop? Desktop Prebuilt? (Y) Manufacturer: Dell Model: SC440 Pentium D 4Gig RAM Install Methods summary: Working: SC440 3.0GHz Pentium D with 4G memory using Leo4Allv3. Initially tried "as is" (ie was set up for PCLinuxos 2007) with a PCI FX5200 graphic installed and a second HDD installed. Well did not have much success. Removed the second HDD and got much further in the boot to the point that the graphic startup failed and subsequently the windows manger startup failed - strong hint here to remove the graphic which I did . . . ie now back to as near a vanilla system as I could and had better success. Options selected at this point were: ACPI - 1.2.1 SMBIOS - DDR667 Kernel - 9.2.2 Chipsets - old Nforce (due to possible kernel panic due to SATA causing reboots), Intel-ICHx, Nvidia, Network/Broadcom Remove FW To do: 1. I need to get a better graphic running (need to do the PCIEx4 slot mod) as the mobo based graphic with VGA output has an offset to the left I cannot get rid of and besides is limited to 1024x768. Fixed. Got the PCI bus FX5200 running ok. Booted using the MOBO graphic to get to a working desktop. Downloaded and installed the GEForce package universal installer from here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...rt=#entry461785 Note is took a while to finalize the installation - be patient. The system will reboot after the install - I killed the power at the safe moment - put back the PCI FX5200 and the system came up with the OS X desktop. All display resolutions are available. 2. Find out why second SATA hard drive mucks things up Once the system is running however the second disk CAN be re-connected and it IS recognized. ie disconnect only during the install process 3. FrontRow does not work - blank screen (as noted elsewhere) I will use XBoxMediaCentre for OSX in any case 4. Install Broadcom based PCIex1 gigE adapter (will work as noted elsewhere) Installed a Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter. OSx86 Hardware guide claims needs STA_2500CardBus driver but ran out of the box with no additional driver needed. thetimp
Type: Desktop Prebuilt: No Install Methods: Kalyway 10.5.1 install (I attempted Vanilla installs several time without luck (but I may not have been doing it quite right)) EFI/Vanilla kernel: I chose the Vanilla kernels from the Kalyway DVD so I presume they do. After finding time slipping and scratchy sounds out the speakers while two sound sources were using the sound card (not to mention "WARNING: AppleUSBAudio has detected that clock_get_uptime () value changed radically from previous values" while the web cam was plugged in) I installed mach_kernel.voodoo (RC1) which fixed both of these issues and the system can still sleep / wake. thetimp
I have found one issue with the Voodoo kernel (even the final which came out today / yesterday) is that when returning from screen saver it doesn't prompt for password to unlock (even though its set in the security preferences). The only fix for me was to boot the system as normal login and log out (don't do anything) and then log in again and screen saver works asks for password to unlock. Bit of a pain but oh well.
