Alright cool thanks.

NO PROBLEM, just be carefull, next time updating, ask in the forums or check front pages... usually this kind of updates come time to time, so make sure you check insanelymac front page or use pacifist to see inside update packages... good luck... also if you have at least two partitions for osx, one for main and one for testing, you would not have problem like this

just boot with -v -x and see if it gets you to the install screen... if you dont get still waiting root device error, then you are actually going into install window, but nvidia drivers most likely messing up things... if any loading... -v -x should be able to get you to install window, also check your sata hdd's operation mode as well, make sure it is sata mode, not native ide mode...

I tried -v -x and I usually don't get the still waiting for root device error. I have already tried changing the mode of my hd from native ide to sata and my disk is not recognized by the bios or the install disk.

5-b-) If it just says "Still waiting for root device" it is your SATA HDD, is not recognized due to missing DEV ICE id or incompatibility as the SATA DVD drive. Fixing this involves two installations and some editing, no direct solution unless you inject edited nforceata driver to the DVD.

How would I go about editing and injecting the driver to my dvd?

I tried -v -x and I usually don't get the still waiting for root device error. I have already tried changing the mode of my hd from native ide to sata and my disk is not recognized by the bios or the install disk.

are you able to go all the way to installer window? how do you know your hdd is not recognized?

also are you sure you have iatkos r3? and where are screen shots of your problem? where is your boot process stuck what is the real problem?

if you dont describe properly we cant help you...

Hey :)

wow my first post in a new community .... hope I'll survive that.

I have tryed for hours to install The Leopard version from iAtkos v.1.0i BUT I can't run it properly.

Means:

I came up to

9) Click on OS X Partition that you will install Leopard

in the installation guide.

The Problem is, Mac doesn't find my 2 SAT-A HDD's so I tryed a the nForce ATA driver ==> Check Here

I put the AppleNForceATA.kext to the patch files and overwrote it -> runned ppf-o-matic > made a new .iso and burned it onto dvd ...

I have got the same problem ... it Changed nothing.

Can anyone help me?

Greets,

PGoes

My System Details, you can read in the CPU-Z file .... hope it will help you.

P.S. I used already the search function and looked over many post here ....

cpuz.txt

thats where the problem lies...

first you are very new to osx... and I m guessing you didnt even read the post#1 and specially post#2 and most importantly the TITLE OF THIS TOPIC?

if you jump to last pages like this you will get sarcasting comments...

at the very beginning (very first sentence) of the post#2 you will find the most important information for you to be able to install osx on your mobo... but before that you need to know partitioning as well if you wanna dual boot osx along with windows...

EDIT: you have AMD cpu, which requires some other patches, so basically iatkos is for intel cpus, better to get kalyway 10.5.2 or Zephyroth AMD... both should be able to install fine on your mobo... please learn to use search functions and do not jump to last pages... otherwise you will get sarcastic comments...

Let me first start off by saying that you did an awesome job on the instructions. This is the only site that has actually helped me and because of that I am writing this in Leopard right now.

Ok... secondly, I am extremely new here. So excuse any of my posts that may be stupid or repeats of what others have said. If my signature doesn't show up with my specs please let me know. Ill put a few here just in case.

CPU - Intel 3.20 Ghz

RAM - 1.5 GB 533MHz

OS - Windows XP + Apple Leopard

Problem: Leopard isnt recognizing any of my USB ports. I have tested all of them multiple times and nothing is registering. Im not sure if this is a software or hardware problem. (They all work fine when I boot into Windows XP). I have Leopard installed on a entirely separate HD then what XP is installed on and Im wondering if the files required to recognize them lie somewhere in it. Im really sitting in the dumb section when it comes to this. :P Any help? Thanks is advance

you are missing lots of information and your signature is not shown bcoz you dont have one!

my control panel/edit signature/ copy paste my signature and edit it to your specs/update signature!

also read/search the topic before you post repeatitive stuffs, bcoz at times, I run out of nerves bcoz some obvious facts are posted on the very first page and people ignore it...

hello there, ive waited the r3 ppf patch to apply it on the r2 ATKOS iso and all goes well, the checksums all.

the atkos r3 boots up correctly i had to change my SATA dvd to a IDE dvd, then ATKOS starts install and on the first reboot my computers says missing operating system, i thought to myself maybe is the type of bootloader, but thats not the problem.

im almost a noob in all this mac-pc stuff, can anyone help or tell me why the bootloader cant reach the ATKOS installation, i have followed every step of the guide =(, its a bios setting problem ?

greetings!

i can see two hdd on your profile... are you installing osx on another hdd for only osx purpose? or installing on a dual boot hdd?

bcoz it looks you either misconfigure your hdd? or your bios is not set to boot from the osx installed hdd yet...

provide more info...

Again I apologize. I cant tell you how many times Ive read the first couple of posts and did not see the section on USB. Only after I did a search did i find it. I will read through solutions and try my best. Even though I dont understand the whole kernel and kext thing yet. Sorry again.

Hey,

first of all, I read your first two Topics

I applyed a patch to the iAtkos V1.0i , so i should run it on my amd properly :)

also i applyed the sata drivers from medevil, but I can't still see my 2 SATA HDD's

should I stop trying it with iAtkos? and use Kalyway 10.5.2 oder Zephyroth? Do they run with a Nforce Chipset?

@bennason: please read my signature and my reply message above that i wrote to you! you are missing the most needed information...

@Pgoes: Just download Kalyway or Zephyroth... but if you had iatkos r3!!! (i doubt you have r3?) it should have seen your hdd unless you have a unique device id that is not in the list...

for your convenience definetely go for either kalyway or zephyroth both good for your system...

@nvid1a: if I see you signature correct, you will burn your ati card pretty soon if you run it at those frequencies... :) also read my special note on the bottom of the install guide for ati2900xt...

@mysticus:

its just the 3d high clock setting, in windows and other its running at stock, so its only for gaming =), anyway, on a first attempt i was trying to use my 80gb HDD only for the OSX, so windows and stuff stays in the 160gb while mac osx and its stuff stays in the 80gb, on that i attempt my luck was no good, my only chance now is to make dual booting with the 160gb i have plenty free space on it.

what would you recommend me to do, i can pass all the stuff i got from the 80 gb hdd to the free space on the 160 gb and use the entire 80gb for the mac osx, thats not a problem, or maybe i should try dual booting with the 160gb ?

use 80 gb hdd for only osx!

go to your bios!

you should see one bios setting for order of device TYPE (should be in this order: cdrom/hdd/others-floppy usb etc?)

and you should see one setting for each devices if available (hdd: hdd1 name 80gb/ hdd2 name 160gb) this is only for booting into OSX alone!

if you want dual boot with two hdd (yes you can), you have to follow the guide below for xp (vista is different!)...

DUAL BOOTING IN XP

boot to windows

place your osx dvd

open the dvd folder

you shall see a file named chain0 (chain zero)

copy that file to windows' root drive (say windows on your c: drive, copy the file to your c: ok? not inside any folder pure root part)

your invisible files should be disabled so you can see all files in the root of your windows (tools/folder options/show invisible files and show system files)

then you should see a file named boot.ini (make sure it s not read only? if it is, change its property to uncheck readonly part)

open boot.ini

and scrol to last line (new clean line after original texts)

and write this

c:\chain0="OSX Leopard" (between quotes u can write anything, it will just bring the text in boot options to select from ok?)\

now you dont have to worry about hdd order, as long as your hdd boots from windows, chainloading will find osx and let you run it...

now if you have installed osx on 80gb hdd already correctly with using exact same settings i showed in the guide? you should be able to boot from it...

also, i can confirm that new Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD works on nforce as well... They included nforce drivers in the dvd... With this release of Kalyway, my sleep function works as well... I guess sleep is effected by the iatkos's efi version which is different than the netkas's efi version...

I got bored and installed Kalyway 10.5.2 and it worked 99%. Only problem is the 8139 driver didn't detect my PCI network card, but I'm going to try the kext that was in your GFX update pack to see if that works.

My SATA blu-ray drive isn't showing, but my IDE DVDRW is. All my other SATA drives are working fine.

before trying something like that, you must first remove the previous driver first!!! which is

System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext

good luck :rolleyes:

i installed following all the steps, everything goes smooth except the booting part, i get to a screen where i can select whether windows xp or mac osx and when i select OSX Leopard is followed by this message:

Chain Booting Error

appreciate any help, thx

ok you have made some stuffs wrong i beleive, you have to start clean. do the following

boot of the dvd for install

after first install screen, saying click to continue, you will see a menu on top

go to utilities/disk utility

when disk utility is started, on the left panel,

see your hdd showing the size and hdds name (not the partitions). click on the hdd on the left

on your right you will see some menus, click on partition

see this pic http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/1542/picture1vb2.png bottom big window is the disk utility as you will see what i say...

and do the following changes:

++ volumes scheme: 3 partitions

++ options: master boot record

+ click on each partition one by one, and change the title from "untitled 1" 2,3 to leo1 leo2 and share

+ while changing each name, change the size of leo1 and leo2 to 30 gb and leave the share as it is..

+ and make sure leo1 and leo2 is mac os extended journaled and share is dos (fat32) partition format

+ and finally click apply button and let it finish...

+ once finished, close the window, and continue to my guide on the post#2 for installing/customize settings (make sure you choose the exact same settings as said in the guide!!!)...

+ this should work hopefully

+ once install finished, restart

+ take the dvd out

+ and see this time chain should be able to find the osx...

good luck and report back...

omg dude, you rock.

it worked perfectly now im inside OSX still starting with -v -x sets, i havent installed 2900xt drivers, everything works except my ati radeon and mi X-Fi.

now i will try to install the 2900xt or should i follow the next part of the guide updating to the 10.5.2 with kalysto and the full GFX ?

thank you man.

I get random crashes with my motherboard with all cores enabled does anyone know why?

Update:

I noticed the problem now. It seems that when i am transferring files with huge filesize or try to rip dvds with toast my iATKOS r3 install crashes.

I hope someone could help me out.

Mysticus can you help me out please?

Cannot see Hard Drives when choosing install location in iAtkos.

* Intel Core2Duo E6700 2.66GHz

* 4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM

* nVidia 8800GTX 768mb

* eVGA 680i SLi Motherboard

* 80GB Seagate 7200rpm SATA (previously recognised under Kalyway, and viewable in BIOS)

yes continue with the update part of the guide! bcoz it has the 2900xt drivers in it as well! (do not change the defaul settings that are pre-selected... you may need to select additional driver like 2900xt or some others, but make sure you read the guide correctly, and understand it!!!) :D see what happens next... report back... good luck...

small notes for you: make sure you understand network part of my guide in the very beginning frequent problems, also x-fi will not work i think? i dont think there is a driver for it, yet? stick with on board

some usefull notes: you have 2 leo partition and one share partition? if you did it correctly :), now why do you have this kind of config? bcoz leo1 will be your main system... once you make it work, you will restore it (sort of carbon copy) to leo2, why? bcoz you dont wanna brick your main install? do you? :) main reason for this is leo2 will be your test ground, where you can make updates and see the effects? some updates make osx bricked, so you would test it before doing the update on your test system, restore guide is also on my post#2 follow it to the end of restore but do not continue last part of it to make it bootable bcoz thats for if you make the restore/transfer your osx on to another hdd! ok? understand this, so you dont change boot part of hdd again... :) how about share partition? fat32? this is for you to share files between windows and osx later... sometimes you may use your windows to transfer some of your files back to osx... so share partition is your storage area for using same files in both systems... from windows you can place your pics in the share partition, and open in osx when you boot easy, w/o needing 3rd party extra softwares to be able to see your osx partitions...

@Kilopopo: huge files sizes freezing usually happens bcoz of 4gb memory, i suggest you to take out 2gb, and run your pc with 2gb left inside, and test the same things again... and toast on some nforce mobos has trouble burning you may need to find another software, DvP had same issue (report what software you are using DvP),he then changed the software, working fine for him now... it must be related to sata drivers i guess? and do the same tests again, and report back... good luck...

@bencousens: did you really read my PM carefully? do you have iatkos 1.0i only? or updated it all the way up to R3? or do you have the R3 already? are you going to use your 80gb hdd for osx only? or dual booting? also add your specs to your signature for gods sake!!! i PM everyone in my message stating this fact, and some people are still ignoring! go to my control panel/edit signature/copy paste my signature and edit it to your specs/update your signature... how hard is it to read it?
