gonna throw this on another drive in the morning...im currently already running 10.5.2 with darwin and "golden" kernel but it seems as if it could be faster not to mention i get random kernel panics which are annoying.....will report back

graphics updater 1.1 is not working. i install it then check through system update, Leopard Graphics update is not there .. then i reboot check system update and its there again! wtf is going on!

Edit: it seems like when i install the 3870x2 driver pkg it uninstalls the Leopard Graphics Update..

@demon: dont make claims like things are not working as you do different modifications to your system and brake the install... update package works, but you have different problems regarding your gfx card as it requires different patches and requires different booting... bcoz the update package do not contain 3870 drivers, you need different natit for your gfx card from netkas...

@jaev: good luck...

@geekofcomputers: you need to read a lot before you attemp to install iatkos man... you probably do not have correct partitioning on your hdd yet...

@easkay: sorry couldnt be online as I was watching my favorite home town team's game :) "Fenerbahce Rules!!!!" :(

also i want you to confirm that on your partitioning of hdd, you choose mbr scheme? not the guid?bcoz i will guide through another bootloader installation which is for mbr... tomorrow...

@daxz: provide more information...?? how you partitioned your hdd? what did you choose from custom window? and provide screen caps if possible by booting off with -v... then we can have some ideas...

good luck everyone...

@knuit

it's network issue, if you reload the kext, you'll have a smooth system again if there're no KPs.

@Jae-v

keyword: equate r3

Well, I reloaded the kext (the official one) but it still reacts the same, putting any strain...or rather maybe it's the constant strain with larger files and it freezes and whatnot. I am currently using both cores though, I assume that would be an issue as well? I would prefer to use both but from what I can tell it isn't possible at the moment, unless I'm just doing something wrong.

Well, I went and did it. I'll keep watching this for new developments but I went and bought a Gigabyte P35-DS3R intel board. If things develop for nVidia chipsets, then I'll build a hack for my son with the 680i SLI board. Thanks Mysticus for all your help.

by far the smoothest install ever....not one problem from start to finish lol....great instructions

system is alot more responsive!

now to re-install all my programs thanks alot for everything!

Hi Mysticus and everyone, thanks for your help. ;)

I've managed to get iAtkos v1.0i r3 installed following the instructions here EXACTLY.

The problem is, when I boot (with -v) I get the following message: "localhost kextd[10]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out waiting to write kernel symbols" and then the next line reads "AppleNForceATA: found 0 units." When I boot without -v I get the grey Apple screen and then it prompts me to reboot.

My installation is on a 1TB SATA, partitioned using MBR.

Is there something wrong with the nForce driver maybe? Where should I go from here to resolve this? My system specs are in my signature.

Thanks again! :)

no worries. I chose mbr yes. Today thurs 3/4/08 is your last chance to talk to me for about 10 days because I'm not gonna have access to internet. so i'm available on google talk like I said from 8pm gmt which I think is about 1pm where you are, I'm not sure.

Thanks for all your help

Well, I did 2 partitions with mbr, one 15 gb for the os and one for other stuff.

I picked EFI bootloader, nvinject 320 mb, the SSE3 patch for nforce chipset and a networkdriver which looked similar to the one on my board.

I can't get a screen of the boot because it restarts in like 1/100 second >.<

Hopes this helps :P

@daxz: run the dvd for installation again

+ after initial screen, go to utilities/disk utility

+ choose 3 partitions scheme and make sure u choose MBR from options menu

+ name the partitions short and easy names... e.g: osx1 osx2 share

+ osx1 is 25gb and for main installation osx2 is 25gb and for backup/restore/test systems, and share is the rest left for windows/mac sharing (u will understand how helpful it is later)

+ osx1 is journaled, osx2 journaled, share dos/fat32 partition

+ and finaly click partition button

and once finished, close teh window and continue to guide on post #2

my suggestion is not to choose any driver on this stage but it is up to you choose any driver for your system...

make sure you follow the guide for main stuffs to be choosen!!!! do not change the main selection to your desire... else hard to keep track of errors people do by their own selections...

good luck...

@apexmusic: first I dont know if two nvidia cards work on osx properly with the current drivers... so i would suggest taking one out, but like i said i dont know about two gfx card config experience... next try booting with -v -x this should help you go to gui, as it looks like your problem related to gfx card? also screen cap of that last parts (1-2 screen caps of the last parts of booting process) is much more helpfull... once you get into the gui, you can follow my other guide for updating to 10.5.2 on post#2 check it... bcoz 8x series started to work well with 10.5.2 drivers... (but like i said i dont know the deal with dual gfx card configs...)

good luck...

@jaev: please provide more feedback so u can share your experience with people with the same mobo/configs...

@easkay: i m on gmt 0 timezone :)

"Side Note2: I used MBR partition scheme, not GUID, so from what I remember, it requires you to dd boot0 or boot1h (i dont remember exactly just search for guid) to fix blinking cursor after installation (aka bootloader is not working)"What does that mean because i am using GUID and getting that error could someone please give me a step in the right direction....(p.s my posts dont seem to be posting:S)

btw iv tried the steps from 10 in post#2 on how to move to different HDD

why dont u try formating your hdd with mbr scheme?

@daxz: u can continue the guide&files on post#2 for 10.5.2 updating... and u can choose the gfx drivers from the update this time... and any other related drivers as well... but make sure you read my note about network card!!! in the very beginning of the post#2!!!!

New problem:( please restart your pc and -f -x cpus=1 didnt work:(

try this guide as well as i suggested for daxz,

=============================

run the dvd for installation again

good luck...

yes, he fixed it by correctly repartitioning the hdd, as I adviced him... so his problem was not bootloader but wrong partitioning in the first place, i dont know what happened in his first try but guess like i said wrong partitioning..., now seems to work ok and boot without dvd... problem solved...

so if u r having same problem, first start from scratch again with totaly new partitioning as it may be just easy to fix some of the bootloader issues...

good luck everyone...

can someone give me a working kernel for nforce chipset motherboard and intel quad core cpu. I want to get all 4 cores working and the kernel to be the kernel used in iAtkos r3 installer. please thanks.

why dont you read the post#2 first? instead of jumping to last page?

no u can't use it. Yet, no stable drivers for it. Only working network cards are the ones i mentioned on post #2 that I know of. For the gfx card try the 10.5.2 update guide n files to see if it helps also provide more information about your problem booting of with -v.
