@mysticus

=( no good, i used wireless before ...

by now, i was thinking if USB ethernet will work ..

there're two in my place that's available for me to buy

-D-LINK BUB-E100 10/100 USB LAN

-Linksys USB200M 10/100 USB2.0 Lan Card

or ..

-Apple USB Ethernet Adapter

but will they work and no freeze???????

if it is from apple, may be? you need to experiment yourself

for the wireless, did you check the chips on them? and the drivers?

you have two wireless but, remember my note about the ones on the post#2, those both wireless nics, have drivers made very recently around february! and leopard in mind! and they are official!!! what are the chips on your wireless nics? you need to identify that first to make a claim like "no good".... you may have 1000 nics doesnt mean anything, if no leo drivers exist.......

hmm, i know that drivers..

it's the same one on the ralink's site right?

they're causing freeze, and i'm sure there're no leopard release for rt73 &rt2500, but there's one for 2870 ...

that's why i abandoned it ...

it is from ralink website, this driver supports leopard and posted to website on december... quite new... it is not for 2870 only, if you check the driver with pacifist you will see it is not only for 2870... have you tried this version? ( date: 12/03/2007 - RT28xx:1.0.1.0b - OSX: 10.3/10.4/10.5) have you tried this version? and it caused freeze? you sure? if you are sure that you tried this version and it caused freezed, then you are right...

Just want to give my thanks to Mysticus for the guide. I'm now happily running 10.5.2 on my P5N-E SLI board, from a SATA drive.

Cheers mate :D welcome on the bus... but be careful if you drink two pints of lagger and a packet of crisp :P

i think you remember wrong :P have you tried it recently? also, i can confirm that new Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD works on nforce as well... They included nforce drivers in the dvd... With this release of Kalyway, my sleep function works as well... I guess sleep is effected by the iatkos's efi version which is different than the netkas's efi version...

I m going to make a quick HOW-TO install guide for Kalyway 10.5.2 on NForce. later today... using steps are pretty much same as in my guide on post#2 but there are different customize settings there which you may need to change some...

here is a quick screen shot (note that I changed some icons using candybar already)

Some Info/Confirmation News

+ I can confirm that USB not mounting issue happens when kernel and system.kext versions do not match!

if you updated to 10.5.2 using my update package, and didnt change the default settings it should be good to go, and no usb mount problem (note that you can change other settings, but not the default ones as system.kext selection, and kernel selections, match each others versions)

+ I can also confirm about large files causing freeze, happens bcoz of 4gb memory!!! You can take 2 gb off from the slots, and run the system with 2gb should be enough... 2gb bcoz if u leave it 3gb it will run in single channel mode, instead of dual channel...

I can't boot into the iatkos v1.0ir3 dvd. My specs are in my sig. I used iatkos r3 because it already has the nforceata kext in it, and I figured that would let me install onto my sata hd.

When I boot up the dvd with -v, I get up to the nforceata driver finding 1 device, then finding 0 devices. Sometimes it will show an extra line about (a) sleep (driver?). I never get "still waiting for root device."

When I boot with -v cpus=1, or any other flags like -s or -x, I get all the above (sometimes it doesnt "find 0 devices"), but after a minute or so I get the "still waiting for root device" error.

Are there any other commands that I can pass to get the dvd to boot, or am I SOL with my hardware? Again, specs in sig.

Thanks in advance for help. I dearched, but couldn't find a definitive answer. And sorry for no screenshots, my camera's not working...

just boot with -v -x and see if it gets you to the install screen... if you dont get still waiting root device error, then you are actually going into install window, but nvidia drivers most likely messing up things... if any loading... -v -x should be able to get you to install window, also check your sata hdd's operation mode as well, make sure it is sata mode, not native ide mode...

That 10.5.2 installer was great. Now my system is faster. Hotplug USB works. The DVD driver works :thumbsdown_anim:

BUT now there's a big problem, i installed the TimeMachine/Airport Upate :thumbsdown_anim:

Any help regarding this?

If not, is there a DVD with the new SATA drivers included (as there now working)?

time machine update was a bricker update... it was mentioned before on the first page of insanelymac! you should not have installed it... in fact you should not install any updates before searching/asking in the forums!!! unfortunatelly right now your choice is only to reinstall if you dont know how to replace the files.... or restore your system...

Meh, do you have a PPF containing the newest SATA drivers anyway?

latest driver is in my update package, if you have read the post#2 you would understand?

install iatkos r3, then continue reading/dowbloading the 10.5.2 system & gfx update package...

try new Kalyway 10.5.2 dvd if it helps... bcoz it has special command next to iso to be able to inject kext to boot if you like to have some hands on experience... good luck...
