the iatkos's efi maybe one reason? bcoz it is different efi than kalyway's or equate's adjusted the bootloader installation which has some non standard figures in it, which may be the issue?

if kalyway is working, why are you trying to install iatkos as well? bcoz iatkos is 10.5.1, so you will need to update to 10.5.2 anyway... so why bother with iatkos now? continue with kalyway, bcoz kalyway 10.5.2 dvd is also good... and for people using gfx strings, it s better to use kalyway anyway...

stick with the one that works...

Well Mysticus it's a no go, i installed again and no luck: Let me describe what i did

Booted from the dvd using -v, everything was fine, didn't recognize USBEHCI but that's a known problem. It went to the "click this button to continue screen"

I cicked the button, then before clicking continue i partitioned the SATA HD in this format:

1 partition 40GB HFS+ Journaled named "Mac HD"

1 partition 36.9GB MS-DOS named "Vista HD"

On options i set it to MBR, then I partitioned the Hard Drive

I Quit the Disk Utility, and then hit continue. Chose the "Mac HD" to install on, clicked next, clicked customize and clicked on everything that was shown on post #2. The EFI bootloader, the NO-HPET SSE3 nForce kernel, remove powermanagement kernel, and Remove Thermal Kexts. I Chose the two options on the bottom about the tempmonitor and the other thing.

THE ONLY CHANGE was that i added the NVinject 256 driver, it was the one that worked with the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD

Install was fast, about 10 minutes, and then the restart your computer appeared. I Hit restart, and like always t showed it the display that said synching disks, then done, then MACH_REBOOT. My computer has never restarted after an instal, but i restart it manually after i see the MACH_REBOOT message and it's worked.

So i restarted it, and it got to the loading from cd drive, i had already taken my cd out and the next place to boot from is THAT HD, then it went to the blinking cursor...

Loaded GParted and made the MAC HD the active partition, checked the volume and things were indeed installed on it. Rebooted and still the blinking cursor.

I know it's not the EFI bootloader, because the EFI emulation worked with the Kalyway 10.5.2 and the boot time was fast.

Should i perhaps burn the DVD again? Or is this a known problem that has a solution? I'll of course keep working on it, but if you have advice Mysticus i'd appreciate it

Thanks

Hey, i installed it and it works... then it works... bootup takes forever i tried the update but it always messes up with kernal panics and graphics card not working... I need to update to kalway and so its not laggy... any ideas

I was trying your DVD because it would allow me to run with both cores active, that was the only reason i tried it out. I guess yea i can stick to the Kalyway, is there anyway i can fix the kalyway or patch it to get two cores, using your kernels?

Mh, i noticed a little problem. Sometimes the PC freezes for about 5 seconds while the first dvd drive is loading. It is a bit weird, because there is no medium inside. Did anyone else notice that? It is not really a big problem, but I want to know why this appear...

(Didn't find something with forum and google search...)

@ALL - Offtopic: How long is your boottime with Kalyway or iAtkos? I read it is normal to have a boot time about more than a minute with nForce chipsets. My system boots in 75 seconds...

@xlitsx: i think you dont read the update guide correctly? or you dont have the correct files that are in the guide on post#2... those files and the guide works fine, it is just you i guess, who is not doing it correctly... just read it, correctly...

the whole 10+ steps is actually 3 steps...

run kalyway and let it finish but dont restart

run my gfx update, dont change the default selections, but choose/add your own drivers for gfx, audio, network... and at the end restart

wait patiently bcoz it will restart once more... thats it...

you are messing up one of the steps, it is only you who would know, bcoz i cant know what you did, or didnt, most people say, that they follow the guide to the Is and Ts but most of the time it turns out that they miss some of the important steps or do it incorrectly...

@jofman: are you sure you are using kalyway 10.5.2 dvd? and it works only with cpus=1? you are either giving wrong information regarding what you are doing, or you dont really know/understand what you are doing...

@bleeker: i cant be sure why your system freezes, but my guess is that it may be normal, as if you open a finder window or terminal window, it may want to check everything that is connected to pc, for dvdrom, it will need to spin the dvd for couple of secs to seek if there is anything in it, or any information on the media if anything there in... this kind of problem may happen in windows as well, when you open/close the dvd, or open explorer window, it may take up 1-2 secs to 5-6 secs for it to initialize the dvd rom/media, which is caused by interrupt request (it is more of a technical design issue of pcs in general) i guess??

for the boot up time, i think apart from some lucky ones, it usually takes about 60-70 secs to boot up, bcoz of the iokit error, (which i m most certainly sure caused by sata/pata drivers/controllers/bios combination...

yes you're right, windows does it if a medium is insert, but not if it is emtpy. on my powerbook doesn't appear this, even when a cd/dvd is in the drive. I have no idea why this appears... (btw I didn't notice that by using iAtkos)

ill turn off the autostart functions in the system configuration and the sleep functions for hard drives as well, maybe that will help. if it does, ill tell you, so everybody with the same problem knows...

Hi folks.

I don´t know what happens, but I can´t install OXS from iATKOS 1.0i R3 patched with the Equate files.

I patched 2 DVD´s - one only with R3 patch and another with R3 + BadBIOS patch and none of them works form me.

I tried booting as post #2 says but without success.

Can anyone give me a litlle help?

Till now, a version that could install on my machine was Leo4all V2.

P.S. - Can somebody please tell me how to post pictures?? If I post pictures, will be easier to understand what I´m (not) going trough...

Try the iatkos r3 trumpet or kalyway 10.5.2 trumpet on post#2...

I´ll try it for sure.

The only problem is that I´m not a premium user and the files will take a long time to arrive... :)

But, no problem.

Any preference for one of the files??

since you are a new user, i suggest to go for kalyway 10.5.2, so you will save me time and hassle as you will want to update your system and i m sure you will mess up some parts...  so better to stick to kalyway and have everything at once... and it works fine... only problem you will have with that is the usb not mounting issue, which you will be able to fix very easy, as I will add the system.kext update pkg to post#2 so people will not need to download whole update pkg just for that...

good luck...

OK Mysticus.

Thnx again.

I´ll start downloading the Kalyway from the trumpet. :)

You´re right. I´m really new to that mac stuff and I know many things sound complicated to me.

Never got in touch with unix systems before, so, some codes in here for me is very hard.

But as you said in a earlier post, I´m a newbie, not a noob.

Here's an update of my situation.

After some problems with iATKOS r3, I tried Kalyway 10.5.2. This installed and booted just fine. Then I fixed the USB-mounting issue and downgraded from 4gb to 2gb ram. But after a while the mouse cursor went crazy. It's like it freezes and it will react to any movement. The keyboard works fine though. I tried different mouses, but the same problem. The problem comes and goes, and sometimes it just goes away, but mostly I have to do a reboot. I searced the forum, and googled it alot, but i could not find any solutions to the problem. I did plenty of reinstalls to, one with no extra programs, but I would still have the problem. So if anybody has the same problem, and has got a magical solution, shout out. :D

So I figured I would try the iATKOS version one more time. This time the iATKOS worked fine. no mouse problems at all (for now). So now I am just contemplating installing the 10.5.2 update, but I am afraid that the 10.5.2 would mess up my mouse again. Any thoughts about that? I'm using dualboot with Vista x64 using EasyBCD to configure the dualboot.

i m guessing it is related to network or most likely gfx drivers messes up with usb mouses... i dont know, best way to learn is to try yourself, install takes only 10-15 mins anyways... it s a big learning curve, and you can share your experience with people in similar situation... good luck...

hey i'm positive it's the 10.5.2 Kalyway, because the 10.5.1 never worked and it says 10.5.2 when i install.... so yea, and i'm pretty sure i have a decent understanding of what i'm doing. I guess my alternative is to download again? I'm not sure, but dualbooting went to hell anyway so i'm going back to Vista for now and when i get another HD i'll install OS on different drives. Different partitions is just screwing myself over.... Any advice, because i was pretty sure the nForce Kernel by KABYL was supposed to solve the cpus=1, but that's why i tried your install.... oh well, i'll get it figured out.

Can you describe the USB fix you did, i tried everything on my last partition, making sure the numbers matched and GROWL even said that i had mounted a USB flash volume, but it never showed up on my desktop. If i booted with the flash drive in, then it could detect it as i unmounted it and mounted it.... Much appreciated

dont get me wrong, but with only a week of experience and doing things on a dual booting environment, and tons of misunderstanding, it will be hard for you to continue...

i was gonna suggest you to have extra hdd but you already got that part...

kalyway dvd has by default netkas sleep kernel which works for all the nforce chipsets with intel cpu on it... so if you used kalyway and couldnt boot up w/o cpus=1, you either fingered the kernel choice? or your nforce is off-the-scale totally different nforce with bugs/troubles?

it is quite late right now, so i will not write longer, when you have an additional hdd, i will give extra guidance from how to partition to how to install... so just let me know when you got spare hdd...

Hi,I followed Mysticus C's instructions in post#2. Which says:
Well, now last part is that, if you didn't change the kernel, you have to copy back the old system.kext for 9.2.0 because the one just now installed is 9.2.2 which will create the famous "usb not mounting issue". If you have already downloaded my GFX update package, if you go into its folder, you should see a file named "System.kext Replacement.pkg" just install it, after first reboot. Thats all you need.
There is a also a link to the package you need in post#2. Hope can get it to work.

The iATKOS install is also making my mouse go crazy at the moment. Both installations contained the nvinject 320mb driver, so i'm thinking (and hoping) that this might be the key. I'll do some reinstalls and let you guys know. Might be a while though, got some exams coming up, so I really should concentrate on them... ;)

I am doing the steps correctly as you posted to update to kalaway... I am even going to provide a video of it a little later...

It installs both, it loads then restarts like its suppose to, during the second boot i get a kernel panic

sometime kernel panics normal, may be related to bios, maybe some other settings maybe OC? but if it continously giving kernel panic, you should get me screen cap (or type what the message says exactly-- but usually 10 lines, better to get screen cap...) so we can see what file is causing it? only then we can find the solution... i

i m getting a Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DSR3 mobo tomorrow, so I will be busy for a while :hysterical:

lets see how it is gonna act like? :hysterical:

edit: I think I will make a full How-To Guide for this as well :hysterical: there are many guides/information already out there, but I guess I will mix and match all the info into one for easy understanding... thinking of making screen caps and all the things I have done previously as in post#2... will report tomorrow or the day after, for details for installations, problems, and suggestions for future...

nite everyone...

I ran into a problem. Throughout the booting of the Mac OS X I've found an error that shows a couple of times. It says "I0ATAController blocking bus" It loads to the first screen to select language and I continue. The next page just says welcome with two buttons that I cannot click on and the top starting bar is not present. Any ideas with the problems I'm encountering? I have a nForce SLI board and I want to run OSX =\

how about read the post#1 and post#2 for "how to ask help?"

ok, I am just done with iAtkos r3, too many issues with USB bootloader graphics and updating.

So you know what I did, and a lot of you should try and do? Go stright to Kalaway 10.5.2, i was able to install it with 0 problems and everything is working except graphics. So its a big change. Boot time is also better shaved off about 20 secs... and overall performance was better...

Try Kalaway 10.5.2 if you are fed up.

you will have the usb problem if you install kalyway with default settings (sleep kernel) but if u read the guide, has a fix for it, therefor u ll not have usb not mounting issue...

good luck with kalyway, it s nice as well...

i m just tweaking my osx on new mobo, gigabyte ga-ep35c-ds3r

:) dont think intels are perfect -_- it is not, it has the damn jmicron issue, -_- i m gonna get sata dvd soon it looks like...
