iDENEB v1.4 10.5.6 DVD. Anyone install this on the M1530? DO you have the screen shots or can tell us which System/Driver choices should be made for the M1530/M1330?

I have the 8600 NV card 4 gig ram, Dell 1505 wireless and the Full Hi Definition, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD (1920x1200) & 2.0 M.

Maybe a link somewhere else? I ask here because we all have mostly the same choices for the Dell M1530/M1330 on most of these installs

I see Superhai has released the voodoo series EHCI. iDENEB DVD does not include these new releases?

I have two instances of the Battery meter on my menubar. I choice that setting in the iATKOS 5i 10.5.5 install then later grabbed the voodoo battery from Superhai.

WHat is the name of the kext file I need to remove that got installed by iATKOS?

I found on the usual sites the iPC-X 86 DVD Final release v1.1 for 10.5.6. What is that DVD for?

Do you think iATKOS wil follow up with v6i 10.5.6 or not?

I installed it on my 1530 and I did not select any ACPI fix stuff. I selected the Vodoo kernel 9.5, no audio because I used HDAEnabler and AppleHDA.kext. For video card I chose Nvida Go, I also selected USBEHI but that did not fix my sleep, and my usb ports do not work. I then got a kernel panick related to the vodoo 9.5 kernel when the computer was on desktop or whenever I plugged in my flash drive. Not really many intensive options to choose from. But I'm gona re install tonight the same distro but with the 9.2 kernel instead.

Sorry mac girl, I felt weird quoting that whole thing too :/ That's weird talisman, I'm going to retry it again one time. I have installed on this xps system about 4 times now and each time something else doesn't quite work. SO far the only thing not working now is the USB ports and I did read through the whole Solution for "USB not mounting" topic. Would it be an issue with 10.5.5 and 10.5.6 only? Because it works in older distros like Kaly.

I think i removed it after I installed the 10.5.6 update, before I rebooted but I don't think I tried and any of my flash drives. I'll install 10.5.5 again using Iatkos tonight and see if they work before and after the update, so I will get back to you on that one.

I know for sure on Ideneb 1.4 the ports do not work even if you choose the right Kexts.

Hi all! Thank you for your hard working about osx86 dell drivers!

I have dell Vostro 1400 and OSX 10.5.6 (updated from iAtkos4i 10.5.4). The video is 8400m gs 128 Mb (with VGA port).

I have 2 issues about video card.

1. OpenGL performance.

When I use gfx-string with leopard graphics update - OpenGL Extensions Viewer gives me about 400 fps, and games run relative smoothly.

When I use NVInject.kext from macgirl (0.2.2) - I have about 680 fps at OpenGL Extensions Viewer BUT REAL GRAPHIC PERFORMANCE IN GAMES - VERY POOR!!!! Like it is software renderer.

Why? And how can I fix it?

2. In "About this Mac" I see two monitors and both - connected. But I don't have external monitor. On macgirl's screenshots I see - there is no connected external monitor. Why and can I remove second monitor?

You will also have a problem with USB drives not mounting if you have an older kernel like 9.2.0 in a 10.5.6 system because apple changed the way they handle USB drives sometime in the middle. The USBMassStorageClass was earlier a part of IOUSBFamily, now it is a separate kext. Before reinstalling why don't you do a "kextstat | grep USB" at the terminal and let me know the output. Do this just after you boot into Mac and then after you have plugged in the flash drive and let me know the output for both cases.

The DSDT is the source of the problem if only the USB on the left side is not working. DSDT still leaves the one on the right side working.

1. Try getting the NVinject to work from scratch. Read this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=930144

The only difference is that you have a 128 MB card. That should not be a problem.

2. Go to System Preferences -> Display and click on Detect Displays. That might take care of your two display problem.

But there is more important difference - I don't have 8600M GT. I have 8400M GS! So NVinjectors didn't work ever for me.

However I did mistake in describing issue. Now I correct it:

1. 10.5.4 & gfx-string & leopard graphics update = ~180 fps in OpenGL ext.viewer and ~30 fps in real game.

2. 10.5.4 & macgirl's NVInject = ~360 fps in OpenGL ext.viewer and ~55 fps in real game.

3. 10.5.5 (or 10.5.6) & macgirl's NVInject = ~680 fps (WOW!!!!!!!!!) in OpenGL ext.viewer and only 10 fps (!!!!!!!!!!) in real game.

4. 10.5.5 (or 10.5.6) & gfx-string = GL/QE/CI don't work.

I tried to copy NVCAP from gfx-string to NVInject's plist.info - but it broke my OSX.

I tried to install Xcode Tools and Quartz Debug tells me I have QuartzGL already enabled.

I tried to enable QuartzExtreme system-widely ("sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver QuartzGLEnabled -boolean YES") but nothing changed.

Display sleeping doesn't affect anything also.

When I use NVInject.kext with NVDAResman.kext and NVDANV50Hal.kext from LeoGraphUpdate - I have black screen.

Why OpenGL Extension Viewer uses hardware OpenGL but at the same time real games (and Cinebench) use software OpenGL in 10.5.5 or 10.5.6?

Please help me!

I'm having issues with my USB on my 1720. They work fine as well as my sleep is working. But they are USB 1.1 instead of 2.0. I installed with 1Atkos v5 and have updated to 10.5.6.

Host Controller Location: Built In USB

Host Controller Driver: AppleUSBUHCI

PCI Device ID: 0x2834

PCI Revision ID: 0x0002

PCI Vendor ID: 0x8086

Bus Number: 0x1a

If anyone could point me into the right direction I'd appreciate it.

ok.... So here is what you do.

Let me know what kernel version you have (About this Mac/System Profiler)

Your problem is that IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext is not loading. This can be due to two reasons.

1. You do not have the kext in System/Library/Extensions. So check if you have that and let me know

2. You have the kext but have an old kernel even if you have a 10.5.5 or 10.5.6 system. So I would like to know the kernel version.

Solution:

1. If you don't have the kext in S/L/E then install the kext I have attached.

2. If you have an old kernel then reapply the latest update you have previously installed (10.5.5 or 10.5.6) or look for the 9.5.0 or 9.6.0 kernels. If you want to keep your old kernel, then after plugging in the USB flash drive open a terminal and type "kextload -t <path to IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext>"

Let me know if neither work....

But there is more important difference - I don't have 8600M GT. I have 8400M GS! So NVinjectors didn't work ever for me.

However I did mistake in describing issue. Now I correct it:

I do know that you have a 8400 GS and also that there is no reason why macgirl's NVinject should not work.

Have a look at wingrunr21's guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=119654

Talisman:

I have checked the kernel version in system profiler and it says Darwin: 9.5.0. I also checked S/L/E and I do have the IOUSBMassStorage kext placed there. I have made sure to remove the DSDT.aml after isntalling the 10.5.6 update and the USB ports still do not work.

EDIT: I have replaced the IOUSBMassStorage kext with yours, in S/L/E and then rebooted, ( I used osx86 tools to install the kext), still not usb mounting. So then I try to reinstall the 10.5.6 update and While its mounting the installer, the computer freezes with a black bar on the top of my monitor.

I think its a kernel panick related to the 9.5.0 vodoo kernel I used. Maybe I should try a different kernel?

Did you put the DSDT before you reapplied the update?? That might be why your laptop is freezing while updating.

Or because you removed the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and dont have a Disabler.kext

Clarify this to me: Are you usb ports not working at all with any device, or its a problem with external flash drives and hard drives?

Did you try to load the IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext manually, as I outlined earlier?

Yes, the DSDT was placed back correctly after trying to re-apply the update. I tried two different 9.5 kernels and both ended up freezing the laptop, not only when trying to re install the update, but basically trying to install any program. I think it was due to replacing the IOUSBMassStorage kext with the one you posted. Which I did install manually and set permissions in console.

Any program/app I download and try to install would bring the black bar on top of the screen and freeze the laptop. I'm going to re-install using the 9.2 ToH kernel tomorrow and see if it freezes any more..because before I did not replace the USB kext and it updated and programs would install and re install fine.

And yes its any usb device I connect, in either 10.5.5 or 10.5.6 does not function. Only worked in iatkos 1i and kalyway 10.5.2/3. I really appreciate your help, thanks for all the tips..hopefully this will be fixed soon :)

Hey.

I recently got an XPS m1530, and I've been successful in installing the latest iAtkos distro (10.5.5). It's pretty much vanilla, and I successfully updated to 10.5.6, no prob. I had some problems with graphics, but, after installing the 10.5.2 graphics kexts, and then using NVKush, I managed to get my 8600m GT running 100% (QE/CI).

Everything's running smoothly, except for the SD card, which ATM has no solution, and bluetooth. My bluetooth's a Dell 355. I read that downgrading to a pre-Vista DFU would make the bluetooth visible and working under OSX. However, the first Dell 355 driver (A00) is already for Vista, and has no results when burning the DFU file in there. I DID find what I think could be the latest driver possible for Windows XP (before they include Vista stuff) for the Dell 350 (A17) (some tutorials even mention it), but, trying to run the DFU.exe in that driver folder makes it spit out a warning that the bluetooth in the system is incompatible or something before closing on me. I DO have a DFU update program that works... I just need to find the appropiate pre-Vista DFU file to force-feed it . Well, either I brick the 355 or it'll work, I really don't care (I never use it). I'll keep trying to work on it and I'll post my results. Any suggestions or solutions welcome. :P

Did you try removing the IOUSBMSC.kext to see if it still freezes??

If you do reinstall I would suggest doing an Iatkos v4i and then updating to 10.5.5 twice and then to 10.5.6 with the normal precautions. This is the path that I trust the most coz it has worked for me repeatedly. In v4i you don't need to choose any kernel options and that will only stop you from using speedstep initially. After you update your system will be almost vanilla and then everything works fine.

Did you ever replace IOUSBFamily.kext with anything non vanilla??

There is a SD card driver. Look for it in wingrunr21's guide. If you can't find it, Ill upload mine.

The solution to the bluetooth is way simpler. Boot into Vista if you still have it. Switch it on, using both the hardware and the software switches if necessary. Once the Bluetooth is on in Vista, reboot into mac and the bluetooth will be detected.

Now you can use the hardware switch to turn the bluetooth on or off.

And how did you get the ethernet to work...?? Thats been not working forever...!!!!

...alrighty. I just found out the ethernet doesn't work. (I never use it... I just saw it detected. But now I tested it and no-go). ...and bluetooth won't work either, regardless of how much I restart. Switch is on, software's on, I even recieve and send files normally via bluetooth in Vista. I restar (no shutdown, just restart), boot into OSX, and, still no go on bluetooth. I've heard of most people saying it works out of the box, but, that's a nono for me, unfortunately. Effin Dell 355... xD

I tried force-feeding a 350 pre-Vista DFU into it, but, no-go either, it detects it as incompatible. Well... I'm stuck for now. I did find the SD card driver, and I'll test drive it in a few.

Hmm then which kernel should be used? Or should i just not check anything and let it install the default? I tried IPC 10.5.6 as well and it worked but USB's still do not mount. I can plug in my flash drive or usb device, it will light up for a bit but nothing comes up on the desktop. I guess I can try the usb mount fix that is available on IPC too.

I posted the code from the console I think one page before this for talisman. It basically showed the same output when I plugged the usb device in as well as unplugged it. I'm getting iatkos4i now and I will install and update with that as talisman said and hopefully it will be fixed.
