[GUIDE] Leopard on an XPS 1330/1530

You'll have to take that up with Superhai.

So long time no post. In truth I have not touched the driver in several weeks. I've been busy as hell. Anyway I am probably going to go pick up one of those new 13" Macbooks in the near future. That will make driver development somewhat easier since I can then use the Macbook to remotely debug my code.
  3. The same is actually true of my XPS 1330. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Not entirely sure why it would do any damage. You don't really have a choice anyway if you are running OS X.

Sounds like a permissions problem to me. Glad you got it working. The only XP that can see GUID is XP x64. Vista and 7 can see GUID just fine. As for saving your configuration, why not use Carbon Copy Cloner to do that?

Updated tutorial to include 10.5.7 update. Basically all I said was "install it normally".
  7. System wouldn't boot until I removed it. I'm using HDAEnabler/AppleHDA again right now anyway. Until VoodooHDA supports pin configs it is basically useless to us. Mine works fine without the edit.
  8. Just installed 10.5.7. Since I have VoodooHDA installed I had to remove AppleHDA from /S/L/E. I also had to re-edit AppleUSBEHCI.kext. Otherwise the update went smoothly. Superhai, I'm getting errors upon the loading of VoodooEHCI: May 12 22:51:13 localhost kernel[0]: VoodooUSBEHCI.kext: [Error] unable to get filterInterruptEventSource May 12 22:51:13 localhost kernel[0]: VoodooUSBEHCI.kext: [Error] UIMInitialize - Error occurred (0xe00002be) May 12 22:51:13 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 0.578 VoodooUSBEHCI: unable to initialize UIM May 12 22:51:13 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 0.579 AppleUSBEHCI[0x6e7d000]: unable to get filterInterruptEventSource May 12 22:51:13 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 0.587 AppleUSBEHCI[0x6e7d000]::UIMInitialize - Error occurred (0xe00002be) May 12 22:51:13 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 0.597 AppleUSBEHCI: unable to initialize UIM The kext loads and seems to work correctly but those get printed out.

Audio is finicky on these machines. I don't use Brandon's DSDT because it never worked correctly on my machine. So no, I don't know how to solve that problem.

No to first, should with second. VoodooHDA is not ready yet. I specified this when I announced it earlier.
  11. While I'd be willing to attempt it at some point (I want to finish my network driver first) I am not sure even Linux supports the full array of cards these readers support. Last time I ran Linux on my laptop only MMC/SD cards worked. Has this situation changed?
  12. Yes. I just talked to a driver guru yesterday and asked him to explain some of the things I was having difficulty figuring out. I should start development on it again in the near future.
  13. Just a heads up to everyone that hasn't heard. There are pretty strong rumors brewing that 10.5.7 is supposed to hit software update this Friday. IF YOU ARE NOT RUNNING RETAIL/DON'T 100% KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING DON'T INSTALL IT IMMEDIATELY! Wait to make sure it won't kill your system!

M1530's don't use Synaptics touchpads so the kext is, at the current time, buggy on them. I'd revert to your old solution for the time being.

We've been working on this for a long time. VoodooHDA is the best bet for this in the near future.
