If you think it's expensive, compare the price and specs to this: Sony VAIO TZ. ($2999, for those too lazy to follow the link)

IMO it's appropriately priced and spec'd for its target low-power highly-portability market.

In addition, it's a great piece of engineering work, both from Apple and Intel. When you're buying smaller-than-standard technology, it always comes with an added price, this is nothing new. Plus, it's an Apple Mac with OSX and not a lame PC with Vista (*shrug*). 'nuff said.

Don't get me wrong I think the MBA looks nice, the black on silver design brings it out well. But for an extra £100 you can buy an Entry Level MBP. I guess Apple are really focusing on the portability factor of notebooks. Still, no alternate colors.. =[

I think streaming a 1080p movie would be just a tad tricky

I don't think they will be streaming all of this stuff. You likely will just download the whole thing (with the option of watching it as it comes across - so you CAN stream, but don't have to) and then the DRM will lock it out at the appropriate time.

They said on the site that HD would be available for $4.99 per movie. Now I'm sure by "HD" they mean 720p, but still.

Overall though, I'm just not excited about rentals. I've always been more the type to buy the movie if I like it (and for half the cost of purchasing it, I'd rather buy even if I've never seen it - seems like financially I'd be better off buying everything rather than renting first and then buying what I like, effectively adding 50% to the cost of all my purchases).

Is the stream still not online or am I missing something? I wanted to stay away from spoilers and see it myself Steve showed it. But going to the apple site was already a huge spoiler..

Anybody's seen any video yet?

Yeah - I went to the Apple site hoping to watch the whole thing before reading this topic, but it kind of ruined the whole surprise! :P

If you look here: http://www.apple.com/search/mac/?q=macworld there is a link to it, but it says page not found after clicking...

I do like the 'Time Capsule' idea, and its good that AppleTV finally doesn't suck. Still, while I really do like and appreciate what the Macbook Air is: what's the point? It's the same screen size as the Macbook, but is less powerful and more overpriced. If I was loaded I would buy a Macbook Air and love it, but since I'm not I would buy the Macbook. I just don't see how the Macbook Air is a decent edition to their laptop line up. It's about as niche as you get, its not UMPC, its just a thin notebook.

My thoughts on the Keynote:

Steve screwed up a number of times in the first 10 minutes. He even called Leopard, Tiger. It was pretty funny.

Time Capsule=Orgasmic.

$20 for an upgrade? {censored}.

No 3G iPhone? Not Cool.

Rotten Tomatoes best review site? {censored}!

AppleTV

TV Shows: I saw Weeds and Californication. I thought that was pretty funny.

Music: First thing I saw, Radiohead - In Rainbows. Awesome. And then he searches for Linkin Park. Hilarious. Sadly it was their horrible new stuff.

Podcasts: What a {censored}. The guy used a parachute. =P

Movies: They finally have Garden State. Yay! (The poster was behind Steve's dome)

MacBook Air is still a {censored} name. But it's amazingly cool, but not for $1799. Remote Disk is pretty badass.

Environmentalism they got going on, sweet.

I was hoping for Trent Reznor or John Mayer again, but Newman's fine, and funny.

Lmao, the Toy Story theme.

(All written during my watch of the Keynote)

Overall, disappointing MacWorld.

Oh and Max, I want my left nut back! I told you the ultra-thin was gonna be expensive!

I missed it and I can't find a website that has it streaming or for download.. bummer..

MBA is cool I guess?.. I don't understand why its so expensive for such low specs, but whatev, I'm happy with my MBP.

Time Capsule seems cool.

REALLY REALLY REALLY upset at the lack of a 10.5.2 update.. that's the one I was actually looking forward to..

It seems, from what I've read and see, that this was a great Macworld for Apple to get money (price of MBA and Apple TV and iTunes features), but noting too exciting or that current people can really benefit from updates(iPhone and Leopard)... but whatev I still haven't watched it so my opinion will most likely change a little.
