Before downgrading... did you install seatbelt.kext? That could solve your problem.

I just installed seatbelt.kext, my system boots a lot faster now, still no shutdown :P

I'll do a fresh install this weekend, and try with other kexts for sound and LAN, the kexts I took were the installers from the iPC 10.5.6 Final release.

I'll report if that changes anything if not my system is nice enough running I don't have to shutdown very often...still its a thorn :)

Hi, try this VoodooHDA.kext, compiled from source

it shows "line out / line out / line out / line out " 5.1 ? :P

test and post your results

Hi Jimmy,

Are there other changes in VoodooHDA.kext or only the correction of "line out / line out / line out / line out" ?

Thanks for your time and effort.

Grts,

Dear everyone,

I have the latest 'compiled by Jimmy' version of VoodooHDA.kext,

but the sound is still creaking when my computer wakes from sleep mode.

Can someone who also used VoodooHDA.kext test the following?

.Start your computer > .Play some multimedia and find out if you hear the regarding sound >

.Bring your computer to sleep > .Make sure that the computer wake up >

.And again play the same multimedia and find out if you hear the right sound without the creaking.

After awakening my computer it gives a crackling sound when playing audio related stuff.

What is your situation look like? The sound ( don't work? work? other?) properly because......

I already have a workaround:

When the computer is awake, enter the following in a terminal;

"sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/VoodooHDA.kext"

"sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/VoodooHDA.kext"

I'm looking for a structural solution at this time.

Thanks,

Grts,

Wally

Me too.... :P And workarounds are really annoying, the solution should be codding the source so that it reloads right after sleep. (anyone up to coding?)

When the computer "wakes" it has the kext in it´s cache, with prebuffered audio... clearing the buffer should be an option, or making a "wake" script for loading, if it is possible I mean...

As I always say, we are hacking... If we wanted (and could afford to) we would buy a real mac. :hysterical:

To be honest , I gave up on sleep mode....

Hey everyone,

I'm pretty new to all this hackintosh stuff so that I'd like some help of you... I have a p5k-se mobo and followed Jimmy's tutorial. Great, got a mac up and running, thanks a lot, Jimmy. The problem comes when I try to update to the 10.5.7 version, that ends up in kernel panic. I installed leopard from a 10.5.6 retail dvd, with the boot-123 disk uploaded in the tutorial. In order to update to 10.5.7, I did exactly what Jimmy told us to do. heheh

I ran UiInstaller with no kexts selected, updated to 10.5.7(and since the installer doesn't let you to open anything after the update finishes, I left "p5k family 10.5.7" open so that I could install it before restarting), and installed the 10.5.7 package.

Then... I restart without the boot-123 cd. While loading mac, the computer reboots with no errors whatsoever. Booting again. Kernel Panic.

Any help is appreciated,

Felipe Boeira.

boot with the " -s " option

type the instructions you see in the screen ( fsck and mount )

move or remove the /System/Library/Extensions/LegacyAppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext if present...

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/LegacyAppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext

reboot, boot with " -v -f " option

Reinstall the " P5K-Family_10.5.7.pkg "

That should do... :hysterical:

Post the results...

Hi, there is a way

check this (link)

You can make a script for reloading after sleep, use the sudoers file to add your user so that you don´t need to type any password for the "kextload" for example

than make a script that will reload VooDooHDA.kext.

I will work on that latter, and integrate the solution in the installer, but only on sunday.

Hi Jimmy,

I'm sorry for long response...

I'm not sure if I do correct steps :

1. I created bkboot.hex and save to it current com.apple.Boot.plist (in osx86 tools utility)

2. I created jimboot.hex file with your string.

3. I clicked on Combine Hex Strings

4. Choose your file and click ok.

On last step I get : "gfxutil: invalid hex inputfile (filesize dont match or zero)"

What I've missed?

Thanks,

Igor

P.S. It's about not working microphone.

P.S.S. Your inbox is full.

try adding this EFI string (also, use the option combine .hex using OSX86Tools )

copy the hex information from com.apple.Boot.plist

save as an .hex file

create another .hex file and paste this

Hey Jimmy,

thanks for the reply but I couldn't make it work. I am now running a fresh installation of mac 10.5.6, and I've got to tell you that I may know how to say "Welcome" in every single language used in Apple's welcome video... hehe

When I tried to delete the kext you told me to, I typed "cd /System/Library/Ext", hit TAB, and it completed with Extensions.mkext ... Was it supposed to be this way? I tried then running the whole command from root /, it didn't return me an error so I restarted and tried to boot, that failed...

Well, I am using a file named MacOSXUpd10.5.7.dmg, which has a size of 442.8 Mb, to update to the 10.5.7 version. Right now I'm on a fresh installation of mac 10.5.6, just with attansic 10.5.6 driver installed...

What should I do in order to get 10.5.7 up and running? I followed your tutorial but it didn't work for me, or perhaps I'm too noob to follow 3 steps... haha

Thanks a lot, man. Sorry for the poor english.

Jimmy,

It is wonderful great that you will integrate the sleep VooDooHDA.kext solution,

in your installer this Sunday.

Many Thanks.

Mine did the same after I installed the other VoodooHDA Jimmy recently posted- I ended up removing the preference pan - I have no need for it anyway.

I guess the "newer" kext is not compatible with the pref pan.(just a guess)

Yes it is incompatible with prefpane

You may switch back to 10.5.6 AppleHDA and HDAEnabler untill it is completely compatible... I am still codding here. In a near future it will be the best option

c ya

Maybe you're right... But my microphone still doesn't work :(

And it worked with AppleHDA + HADEnabler kexts...

I tried the following:

Ran uiInstaller with the options below:

choose hard drive to apply to : OS

set native boot resolution to : 1280 x 1024

(checked) Install PC_EFI v9 Chameleon Edition 1.0.12

Apply EFI String for video card : nvidia geforce 6800 xt 256mb

After that, I updated to 10.5.7, and had already opened the p5k 10.5.7 package in order to be able to install it before restarting. I installed the package and then restarted.

Got the fancy mac screen with the loading circle, though, the computer restarted. Booting again, got the grey screen asking me to turn the computer off. I turned it off, then tried to boot again, didn't work.

I booted with the -v -f options and wrote down some things that may be relevant.

...

WaitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out

...

DumpPanic[45] : Error getting a reference to IO Device Tree : /options

...

configd[49] : InterfaceNamer: no network interfaces, could not update platform UUID

...

Afterwards, I booted with the -s option so that I could follow your older advice. There was no legacyAppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext in the Extensions folder...

Brand new installation again, thanks for all the help!

I tried Custom Nvidia but it wasn't successful... I got the same problems as before... Mac logo, restarts, grey screen...

Some questions:

Wouldn't the attansic 10.5.6 interfere in the update?

Should I try another bootloader?

Thank you.
