  1. Asus 1201N Installation and support

The thing is every 1201n seems to work a little different, so there might not be a working solution for everybody. I used myhack to create a working installer with an actual ML 10.8.2 from the app store. (you have to copy mtek's 10.8.2 mach_kernel and my use-this-extra to the root of the install-disk after it's ready). When the installer asks you which extra to use select the one inside my use-this-extra folder (take care, as this contains a DSDT for 4 GB and the latest unlocked BIOS - you might want to exchange it for one fitting your system). Later myhack will ask you to delete a couple of kexts. delete everything EXCEPT the upstream-client one. The first boot wont work, so either use the installer USB and then at chameleon select your new HDD or manually move Mtek's 10.8.2 mach_kernel to the root of the new HDD and install his kexts to S/L/E of the new HDD. Reboot into your new system. Once inside ML execute MB-tool to install the PS2 keyboard and mouse (i had to install USB /Legacy support for USB 2.0 support, too). Voila thats it - you should have a running system now including working FaceTime, iCloud, etc. Hope thats more straightforward then my other post. use this extra.zip
  2. Asus 1201N Installation and support

I ran into problems over problems using ###### whatever kernel I used. so here is what I did to get Win 7 and ML running from the same disk (alternatively to my wife's macbook on second run I used niresh's distro and created a little partiton (10GB) as a backup boot. It has been handy to access the main HDD when not quite bootable or not bootable again). updated BIOS to 0326 unlocked to unlock AHCI Set FSB to 667 in BIOS downloaded ML 10.8.2 from app store downloaded myHack 3.1.2 from here http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/ booted Win 7 USB and partitioned the HDD into one partition for windows - left the rest as free space. installed win 7 into that partition (it actually creates an additional partition for its boot sector) used the wife's Macbook partition the remaining free space and format with extended journaled selected create installer and then 10.8. and then chose the ML I downloaded from the app store it created a bootable USB like ######, I simply exchanged the mach_kernel at the root of the installer with the one for 10.8.2 from Mtek's post and added a DSDT and a SMBIOS boot into BIOS disable USB Controller 2.0 After setting everything up reboot using the win 7 USB installer at the first window press shift and F10 type diskpart list disks select disk 0 (if that is your HDD) list partition select partition 1 (if that is your future ML drive) type active reboot select the myHack USB installer booted right through. install into that partition when Myhack asked me what kind of extra to use I rebooted to have system as vanilla as possible. used wife's macbook again to install chameleon 2063 dropped the 10.8.2 kernel in the root of the newly installed HDD dropped dsdt and smbios in extra and Mtek's kexts in SLE booted into that install... once in used MB to install Voodoo HDA and Legacy USB (otherwise I lost my 2.0 compatibilty) and PS2 fix to use windows simply select that system boot partition on the chameleon boot menu, DON'T select the partition where you have installed windows. (if it doesn't boot, use win7 USB and then diskpart to make the "win 7 system" partition active then click on repair in main menu and follow directions) Thats it for me. For DSDT patching I used this guide , SMBIOS: macbook 5.1 Well, I still don't have iCloud but at least its a clean install, thanks to Mtek and rampagedev and all the others who have helped me.
  3. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Somehow when I set my USB back to 2.0 in BIOS I lose support for external HDD, OSX simply doesn't read them anymore. Is there a kext I'm missing here? I used Niresh's installer and then updated to 10.8.2. Used Mtek's kexts and kernel. Also tried the installer bug fix... App store working, iCloud still without me...
  4. Asus 1201N Installation and support

@Mondi - how did you manage to get iCLoud running? I'm still hanging with the server connection problem. I think we have a similar setup, I ran in pretty much the same problems you did. I ended up using Niresh's distro to get ML booting (USB 2.0 had to be disabled - on reg. 0326 Bios - had trouble with the unlocked bios). Then once booted updated and applied Mtek's kext+kernel for 10.8.2 - THANK YOU MTEK. Installed Cham. latest version, updated smbios and applied ethernet fix. no luck. Tried different kernel 10.8.1- booting but no icloud

OK well, yeah exactly instead of selecting those items you can as well just write the flags, the line is in the bottom left corner, but will only appear once you started typing.
  6. Asus 1201N Installation and support

The Tea Kernel is a modified kernel that allows OS X to make use of the atom CPU since support for this processor was removed be apple. If you used the regular installing instructions by mosslack you don't need to worry about that. Regarding your other problem why don't you start your hack by typing in "-f -v" at the screen where you select the partition to boot from. That should reload all kexts and allow you to see where or if there is a panic. cheers guenther
  7. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Oh yeah buddy bring it on I'd definitely like to try that out. By the way did you see any change in how often that fan runs? I'd love to keep it quieter. Cheers Guenther
  8. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Hey Madmatt, so are you telling that anybody can pick up one of the various dsdts and just insert the differnet lines in order to adjust for the RAM size? I have 4 gigs and would like to tryout the other dsdts but don't want to take the RAM stick out again. So if I insert the lines with dsdtse and recompile it it'll work for me too? By the way didn't you want to post your /Extra files and dsdt.aml recently, I'd love to try them out. Thanks to this forum I have the best Hacky ever greetings guenther
  9. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Hi everybody! first of all thanks you all so much for allowing a noob like me to run SL on this beautiful machine flawlessly!! I installed everything had to use an external keyboard and mouse for the 4GB but apart from that everything went absolutely smoothly!! Thanks!! Nevertheless though I have a question: how can I change the start up sequence to not show me the selction screen and simply start up without delay or waiting for flags n stuff? I looked into the com.apple.boot.plist but there is no Timeout setting anywhere to find. Thanks so much for all your help.
  10. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

Hi Wally, it works, if you set yourself as the automatically loggid in user in system preferences under users, that way i think you stay logged in. DOn't know exactly, at least it works here. I've got another problem, my hack doesn't automatically switch to sleep mode. If i set it myself it will switch to standby instantly, but if i set the rulers in system preferences it doesn't do anything except switching off my monitor. Anybody solved this problem? greetings guenthergruen

  13. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

Does anyone have SPDIF out working with voodooHDA? My system works perfectly really happy, although that sleep sound issue with voodooHDA isn't solved, i never used sleep before so why should i now? HAPPY @ santif Do you have the latest BIOS, I had problems with my apple keyboard and solved it with a BIOS update.
  14. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

SHUTDOWN FINALLY!! I just did a fresh installation. I finally managed to get shutdown working, i must've been stupid not to see this before, but it was the sound codec all the time. Everytime I integrated the AD1988B codec or Taruga_AD1988b_rev4 my system wouldn't shutdown anymore. For Ethernet I used the AppleYukon-1.kext Audio works with the new VoodooHDA from Jimmy...THANK YOU JIMMY!! Only thing remaining is I can't use the SPDIF out anymore? Sad but ok we'll see what the future brings. greetz guenthergruen
  15. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

I just installed seatbelt.kext, my system boots a lot faster now, still no shutdown I'll do a fresh install this weekend, and try with other kexts for sound and LAN, the kexts I took were the installers from the iPC 10.5.6 Final release. I'll report if that changes anything if not my system is nice enough running I don't have to shutdown very often...still its a thorn
