Urbz
Being a college student in Pure and Applied science, I found (for the first time in my life) to be making good use of my school agenda. A couple of days ago, I realized that with .Mac, a Mac, and my iPod touch, I could replace my hand-written agenda with something more easily accessible to me and easier to maintain. I wasn't sure if this would work, though. So I set aside 45 minutes and put all my entries in iCal, learned to use it, set it up with .Mac, got it going on my iPod, and by the time my 45 minutes were up, I thought I had a pretty nice setup going. In practice, it was just the same! I am more organized now that I'm using iCal and its baggage than ever before. I have in the past tried using computer calendars to create a schedule for myself, but it never worked. Of course, I couldn't use my iPod in class in high school, which never helped, and I would never have been able to add events to it anyways. So iCal and the new Mail have really gotten me on a good path. I don't spend time organizing myself because Apple's solutions don't get in my way in the least, and I can finally stop procrastinating, since now I have a visual representation that Saturday, from 1 to 4, I am working on my French project, Chemistry Lab, Humanities Essay, and Fitness assignment. It's there, in front of my face. I HAVE to do it! I even set goals on how much of each I want to finish. It's been so inspiring that I even began using it for my personal/social life. Birthdays, parties, "me" time, etc. So, who else is like me? And who isn't? -Urbz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/71621-do-you-use-ical/ Share on other sites
rollcage
I don't know if I use iCal to the extent that you do, but I do have a lot of To-Dos. It's the best way that I've found so far to keep track of all the stuff I need to do. waradmin
I use iCal to schedule out my classes and work schedule so I know what is going on every day, as well as to add events when something is due, etc (majoring in Comp. Sci.). Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/71621-do-you-use-ical/#findComment-508477 Share on other sites
FUKKU
I use ical for managing my home life. I throw due dates for bills in there, days I get paid, family/friends' birthdays, dentist appointments, vacations, etc. I don't micromanage my time but it's nice to have those reminders pop up when needed. For work I use Outlook for calendars and scheduling, because everybody else does and I don't have a choice. My girlfriend also uses ical, she mostly uses it to keep track of her work schedule since she does different shifts every week. That way she can just log in every morning and she gets a reminder of what time she has to go in that day, she doesn't even have to think about or stress over being late anymore. I also have my ical syncing to a google calendar in case I'm out and need to know about something, it's come in handy a few times. Paranoid Marvin
I should... Perhaps I should set aside some time to get it sorted... Do the iPod Touches have the ability to add events yet? Because that would really help. Much easier than using my phone and isyncing, anyway Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/71621-do-you-use-ical/#findComment-511366 Share on other sites

InorganicMatter
Nope. My smartphone is Windows Mobile powered, so I run Outlook on my Windows laptop for calendar management. Sure do wish there was a version of Activesync for Macs, not community hack jobs. (MoC)
Well, I like these types of apps but it. You have to enter 200,000 dates and be :organized: and annoyed with the software. ~pcwiz
Nope, never use iCal. Don't need it as I am still...well not "of age" to actually need a planning device or software of any sort. I hate to admit it but I'm an Outlook Express user...use it every day for email but I guess thats cause my main OS right now is Windows XP Pro. But that will change and I will start using Apple Mail when I build my new Leopard Bad Axe 2 Hackintosh. nintendo_skyline
Yes I use iCal when my mac os was working. I found that it was a lot more useful than my old method of writing notes on the back of napkins or receipts.
