Numberzz
For a long time, FireFox has had this UI that doesn't really doesn't fit in with Mac OS X's UI. Today, Alex Faaborg revealed that the next version of FireFox, 3.0, will have a more Mac OS X like User Interface. It will have the same unified UI that Leopard has and will work with both Leopard and Tiger. jackt283
Hmm.... could they make it look anymore like Safari? I like the fact that non-apple programs look different. Shouldn't Firefox simply have a consistent look across all platforms. I mean it's a branding thing ain't it? If it looks like Safari, how the hell are people going to tell if you are using Firefox or not? cmdshft
Because it will have the Firefox name and logo in the titlebar? LOL Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/67321-firefox-3-feature-revealed/#findComment-479641 Share on other sites

Sabr
Ah! Good news! I never liked FireFox on OS X because of how it looked. Thanks Numberz. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/67321-firefox-3-feature-revealed/#findComment-479923 Share on other sites
Mebster
I don't know. I never liked the way safari looked for some reason. And now that firefox has copied the look it's putting me off it also. Also I do like the idea of firefox using one look across all platforms. Sabr
Well, I guess it's mostly down to personal opinion at the end of the day. Perhaps they will include an option to keep the old UI? Either that, or I bet someone will create the old UI as an add-on theme. Ayanami
Ah! Good news! I never liked FireFox on OS X because of how it looked. Thanks Numberz. But isn't that what Camino exists for? Unless they drop Camino, I doubt I will do more than just take a passing glance at Firefox 3. (Although I did use the early betas for a while...) macgirl
Anyway FF has skins doesn't it? I don't like how the actual FF is not like the other apps, I want the same keystrokes/behavior across apps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/67321-firefox-3-feature-revealed/#findComment-480178 Share on other sites
Forceman
I'd rather them keep the icon set they have because it's nice and just have the native page widgets like Safari has. sigxcpu
grapple eos pro makes ff look like a native mac os application. also, the skin has special icons for developer toolbar, in the same manner. A Nonny Moose
Firefox needs to work on making their browser be as fast across all processors and platforms before trying to copy Safari. Forceman
Firefox needs to work on making their browser be as fast across all processors and platforms before trying to copy Safari. It's not copying Safari, it's trying to make it look more consistent within OS X, currently it dont. Firefox does and has worked on more OS's than Safari ever will and it is fast. I DO care how my browser looks, which I why I moved to Camino in the first place - To get away from that damned brushed metal look. After that, there was no turning back. Headrush69
Maybe they can first work on something like making the darn thing load a little faster. Other than OpenOffice/NeoOffice this app is the slowest I've seen to load. Add a few extensions and it gets worse. (Leaving open isn't an option for everyone.) A Nonny Moose
Your the one who said Firefox is copying Safari, how do you work that one out? Take a look at each toolbar and tell me Firefox didn't just use a Xerox machine on the Safari UI. Honestly, they're nearly identical. You didn't get the story did you, it's meant to be like that so it fits with OS X toolbars, the same is going to happen with Vista and Linux versions making it more consistent within the OS's.
