IkariGend - Glad to see it working for you ;)

pags - Some people have mentioned that all you have to do on Leopard is install NVinject.kext, so it may well have better support for the 8800 Series cards.

Hope this helps - I think i'll go back to debugging the 10.4.10 Install DVD i'm making...

Cheers,

~mac.nub

Edit: Yay, finished my Install DVD... it works flawlessly, has all the drivers I need built in including LAN, Audio, GeForce 8800 320MB GTS etc. :( plus it doesn't have the annoying customisations some people put into their DVDs... and is only a 2GB ISO!

Success! Perfect reboot! My EVGA 8800gtx 768MB is powering my Apple Cinema 30-inch display @ 2560x1600 with CI and QE (no hot-plug required.) Many, many thanks to all those who made this possible.

I was running on a 7800gt. All I did was remove natit kext and run the installer.

nervouschimp - Glad to hear everything worked out OK for you :) - wish I had a 30-Inch Apple Cinema display :) I guess I'll have to make do with my 21" 1400x900 monitor though, it's pretty nice anyway...

Here's an interesting fact for you all, in the last week... this has been downloaded over 1,500 times this week already!... and used over 28GB bandwidth alone!

If you feel like being kind and want to donate, PM me for my PayPal info, of course this is completely optional - but it would be nice to have some help paying my hosting fees! :D

pags - It's definitely a possibility... currently I'm testing the Install DVD I made myself - it's a 10.4.10 Install DVD, based on the new iMac 10.4.10 Install DVDs I have. Everything seems to be working flawlessly so far - on my second revision of the DVD, the on the origional DVD, and the first revision the GeForce 8800 Drivers didn't install properly on, but I've fixed that now and they do... Rosetta works, all standard apps (Address Book, Mail, FrontRow etc.) work, CS3 installs and runs fine, no crash on About this Mac, I even have a fixed Intel 8.10.1 kernel that works on nForce motherboards... everything apart from the built-in network works on my current PC system, though I have a Belkin Gigabit LAN PCI card I put in, and it works fine. I'll be putting up a project page on my website about it over the next few days.

So stay tuned for that if you're interested.

Megnus - Currently if I do release a DVD it will be Tiger only, I haven't tried Leopard yet, but when it is released officially... I may end up seeing about making an Install DVD for that, though I'm not planning on doing so any time soon!

P. - Personally I don't see why it *wouldn't* be possible, as if it works for one I see no reason of why it wouldn't for the other... if I were you I'd speak with gotoh, and ask if it was possible for him to implement it, as I said I see no reason why it wouldn't work... surely it would just be a matter of adding a few lines of code calling the same function for the second DVI port... and it would certainly be useful!

Anyone interested in my Tiger Install DVD can checkout the provisional project page on my site here - it's not linked up from the project page yet as I want to add some more info, including screen shots etc. before I do so. The information on the page may be changed dramatically by the time I finish the page.

btw, looking forward to your install disc! The XxX one doesn't see my ICH7R drives and the Kalyway one pissed me off in the long run, too many problems with it so I just formatted the drive.

It would be nice to finally have a proper near-unmodified 10.4.10 install disc. We just need it puurree :D

Thanks for all the hard work. This driver works quite well but there are a few glitches. Installer worked perfectly. System Profiler reports memory correctly. QE/CI works great. All the openGL functions seem to be working (Google Earth, Starry Night Pro). DVD player and movie functions are good.

Where I ran into problems was with resolution switching (known issue). I got blue screened when I tried to switch resolution or when iTunes went into full screen mode or when OpenMark tried to run full screen.

Here are some bench marks

xbench 1.3

Quartz Graphics Test 140.80

Line 106.05 7.06 Klines/sec [50% alpha]

Rectangle 131.70 39.32 Krects/sec [50% alpha]

Circle 123.62 10.08 Kcircles/sec [50% alpha]

Bezier 116.99 2.95 Kbeziers/sec [50% alpha]

Text 540.42 33.81 Kchars/sec

OpenGL Graphics Test 90.24

Spinning Squares 90.24 114.47 frames/sec

User Interface Test 331.87

Elements 331.87 1.52 Krefresh/sec

Open Mark runs @ 2200+ FPS on the opening screen and to get to 9 FPS takes about 15769728 triangles but the program won't run the whole benchmark because of the rez swtiching issue.

I’ll see if I can find some other way to do some benchmarks.

Specifications: Asus A8N SLI Deluxe, Opteron 175 (@ 2.2gHZ), 2 gig ram, PATA drive, eVGA 8800 GTS 320 meg, System 10.4.10 (uphuck 1.3 + update ), DVI-DVI to LCD BenQ FP931 monitor.

Khan

Khan_Man - I also am unable to change resolution etc. this seems to be a problem specific to nForce Motherboards, and also AMD Systems. As of yet there is no fix for this :)

neoraco - If hot plugging is not working there may be a problem specific to your graphics card, you could try a DVI monitor, but I can not promise that this will fix it.

~mac.nub

neoraco - Glad it all worked out for you in the end, even if it did require a new monitor!

Psytwerk - I'm planning on testing the current release for about another 5 or 6 days by myself (and possibly one other tester - a friend of mine, just to check it works with his SATA drives etc.), then will add a few more features that I missed, then will check it all works (as there are no changes being made to the base install, just driver additions it will only be tested for 1 more day) then I will release it provided there aren't any problems... so most likely you'll be able to get it in about a week!

hyphyleo - Glad everything works OK. I may well release a leopard DVD at some point in the future.

Cheers,

~mac.nub

Thanks Mac.Nub ;)

I install you driver today ( XFX 8800GTS 320MB ), but my CRT doesn't turn on.... i try to unplug, and after that i can see osx, but when i go to the rsolulution options and try to pux 1280x1024 the osx crash :( ... i have to do the hotplug everytime i turn on the osx??!! :(

I have CTR with vga2Dvi convertor..., i have too.. but two are working now??!!

Thanks ;)

Psytwerk - Currently you have to hotplug whenever using VGA monitors, the only way to bypass this is by using a DVI monitor with DVI cable.

Multiple monitors should be supported, but you will have to hotplug as you are doing at the moment. Even with DVI you have to hotplug the second monitor!

Unfortunately there is no way to change resolution on VGA monitors.

Cheers,

~mac.nub

Ha ok Then  Better that Nothing ;) I will prefer to stay in windows for a while when G80's are full supported. I will buy a Vaio Laptop soon, and that i wnat to have osx in that :( do you know if the new intel interagted graphics work??!! x3100 graphics....

Thanks Again :(

Psytwerk - I've heard nothing about the x3100 graphics I'm afraid, so as far as I am aware it's currently unsupported.

Though if you don't mind not being able to change resolution and not having QE/CI I guess it should work by removing a few files...

Edit: For those interested, I've just made revision 4 of my Install DVD... the features of revision 2 are currently shown on the DVD project page here - revision 4 contains some useful new features, I'll update the Specification sheet later so you can see what... this will be the version released to a closed beta test group... if all goes well, revision 4 will be the version released publicly (most likely by the end of the week).

~mac.nub

Strangely doing that edit on list at startup, made the apple white screen load at start, i learned it was running verbose mode since it was installed ??!!?? lol.

Many Thanks for your wonderful utility , and keep up the good work!!
