OSXtasy
http://www.hackmac.org/?q=node/4 It will be very interesting to see if this gets exploited, and/if it will patched being that is truly is a good tech support work around, and pretty much would require a "hands on" approach/physical access to the machine. Anyway, i just thought it was interesting. Comments welcome......
Ayanami
That'd be a fun one to try.... Unfortunately, the only Mac's I have access to other than my own, are the G5's owned by my college (Which I rarely ever use), and my G/F's. Not much reason to try that on either.... [idkfa]
Why not just add the user when you're already in single user mode? See here: http://www.geektimes.com/macintosh/os/x/10...ser_script.html
A Nonny Moose
So it's like the Amish virus: "Uh, hi, we don't know anything about computers, but when you get this, forward it to everyone and wipe your hard drive. Thank you very much!"
scj312
Good thing this doesn't work with Windows, or a lot of people would be screwed.

Urbz
well not exactly a recently discovered hack, seeing as it's been around forever. But now that I found a lab of G5 and G4 PowerMacs at my college, I think I'll set-up my own little account on one of them, just so I can feel at home. bluedragon1971
Well at one point there was something like that for Windows 98 users with HP printers:] Talk about a convoluted, round about way of doing something. Oh, wait, never mind, this is Windows we are talking about, everything is like that.

thegodfaza
You can do this in a way on a Windows XP Home Edition computer. If the person who owns the computer isn't technically inclined that is. Reboot in safe mode and click on admin. The admin account on windows has no password unless you set one. And most people don't even know it exists.
