Hey mate. Is that the one you can natively boot into OSX and install or is it only for VMware?

You can boot from the dvd and install or use VMware, I want to see how well it works before I comit to a "Real" install

been running for over 12 hours in the VM and no crash, so its seems pretty stable, just have to find a fix for the stuttering sound and driver for vid card

  • 2 weeks later...

any tips?

I installed this release on my usb connected wd160GB. I formatted it to FAT32 first (100GB partition)

booted the 10.4.10 tugbirl dvd followed the instructions for usb hd install.

It installs great (slow, seems usb when the ports and device are usb2) and boots too but.......

it keeps repeating "waiting for root device"

when it does that, I switch off my usb hd, switch it back on again and the boot continiues.

When the boot is finished sound works:)

The mouse and keyboard don't. (ps/2 keyboard, usb mouse)

I unplug the mouse and plug it back in again and the mous works.

No such trick for the keyboard:(

I put some files on a usb stick to get my wifi working but the usb stick doesn't work.

I've tried jas releases before (not satisfied with them, never really worked, sata troubles, was some time ago) and the same stick worked.

How can I overcome all of this?

ow, in case you wonder......

DFI LP NF4 Ultra-D

Opteron 185

4x1GB Kingston HyperX

2xSeagate 160GB sata-2 Raid-0

2xSeagate 500GB sata-2 Raid-0

NEC 4550 DVD everything:)

RT2500 PCI wifi

NVidia 8800GTX

I'd like OSX to run on a partition on the 320GB raid-0 NVRaid but since that doesn't work I figure I test it out on the USB HD first before I decide to de-raid the 2 disks and give one to Vista and the other to OSX:)

It appears as though "Tubgirl" has made another release. This time, it's 10.4.10 for AMDs (as usual), but for SSE3 only. You can pick it up on The Pirate Bay ("Tubgirl" is not in the torrent's name, though).

Unfortunately, this is untested on Intel, and I don't have an AMD. I don't feel I should bother to test it, I'll leave that up to the AMD users.

It appears as though SSE2 emulated kernels will be coming soon in a PPF.

Post your success/horror stories and questions here, if you feel like it.

hi all

after going though this post i have succesfully instaled 10.4.10 version , i installed on a 9 gb partition, it occupied around 2.8 gb space ,

i have other partitions too that have free space, but i am only able to view and play files on those partion not able to copy and move anything there, also by default all the programs i am downloading and installing like yahoo messenger or other are being downloaded on desktop and being installed there, please help as to how i can download them somewher else and use other partitons for storage as right now i am not able to copy or move anything there

installed succesfull on my jas amd 10.4.8. Only thing is it is slower on my acer 5024. With Jas 10.4.8 the system worked at 1800 mhz and now with the 8.10.1 kernel it is 800 by default.

Does anyone know how i can turn it back to 1800? as far as I know this kernel doesn't support speedstep and amd powernow etc at the moment.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Myzar, problem is I have tried my pioneer 109 and a new pionner multi layer dvd drive model was 112, got the same read write error except with the other drive it panic'd after about 5 sam read write errors, the drive before just gave me pages and pages of sam errors.

If I mount the iso with demon tools and try to boot it in vmware I get a waiting for root device. I am gonna experiemnt some more today when I get back from work. I'll maybe catch you on irc if you are around( my nick is mulla), I really want to nail this issue as I lost all my 0sx86 files so building a 10.4.9/10 manually from 10.4.6 is a real pain now.

fingers crossed i can get this to work.

KK I think I am having the same issue I have a screen shot here so you can see exactly what I do.

My Rig :

Asrock K8NF6G-VSTA With newest bios update, Sata Capable but no sata drives connected

AMD Sempron 3000+@2.15 (over clocked from 1.8)

1.5 gig of DDR Ram @ 400mgz

nForce 405 W/nVidia 6100 (256 shared)

1 80 gig IDE Western Digital HDD

1 Lite-on-it DVD-RW Drive(SHW-160P6S w/ newest Firmware)

the is the 3rd version of osx86 I have tried. I run into the same freakin issue. Install makes it to the end, I reboot and get stuck at the pre-bios screen. It will not even boot past my bios logo.

I have tried installing on HDD via PATA or USB external and I can't get my bios to even see my HDD after the installs. I have to load up my Windows HDD to boot anywhere.

Can someone please help me. I've tried reading through a lot of stuff but I still get the feeling that I'm over looking something. Thanks!

How did you prepare your osx partition?

Usually, one creates a fat32 primary partition of appropriate size (before any extended partition if any), then one boots on the osx dvd.

There, one uses the diskutility to erase the above fat32 partition, choosing hfs+ format.

I say this because you might have instead partitioned the drive with diskutility, in which case you must set it as MBR partitioning.

can anyone conferm this working with nForce 405,GeForce6100,AMD Sempron 3000+?

I have the same chipset on my motherboard and was wondering if there is a patch or something because I have tried with a SATA drive and upon installing it, it locks on the part where you either partition the drive, or if you have already created a partition on a working PC then transfered the disk with the nice SATA partition it locks on the install part.....

I also tried with a pata/ide drive but I'm still getting a lock up.....

so is there something needing to be done here for this chipset ???

Im using an extra hard drive. Can I simply format the entire HDD to fat32 then when booted from dvd run apple disk utility to simply erase the entire HDD in "mac OS extended (journaled)?

I tried this on uphuck v1.4a but not on the Tubgirl install.

Well I have successfully installed Tubgirl 10.4.10 (AMD Test 1 DVD image) on my nForce4 Ultra motherboard on SATA drive.

Full spec of my PC used is:

Athlon64 Venice Core (SSE2/3)

DFI nForce4 Ultra

SATA Drive (on 2nd primary partition)

built-in Ethernet is working

built-in sound NOT TESTED

ATI X800 GTO2 PCI-E

Audigy 2 ZS

I have 3 SATA drives, first two being used by Linux and 3rd now by Vista and Tubgirl 10.4.10 (1st partition=Vista, second=10.4.10, third for windows data).

What I would like to know more is how can I manage to install my ATI X800 GTO2 PCI-E card, so I have openGL and 1680x1050 resolution (currently 1280x1024x32)-- this is really very much WANTED.

Is it possible to use Audigy 2 ZS PCI sound card?

Can I manage my wireless -> Asus WL-130g, based on Ralink rt2500 chipset, to work, preferably with SoftAP mode, or at least in Ad-Hoc so I can connect two PCs wirelessly.

P.S. My first native OSX Hackintosh install -> Thank you Tubgirl and the community.
