PowerPPC2289
I used to leave my vista laptop on overnight to download stuff. Im in the middle of downloading Leopard which is taking FOREVER. Is it alright if I leave me macbook on overnight and is it good for a macbook to be left on for so long, its not going to set on fire or anything. .aero
Just don't leave the screen on all day, that is just common sense. The back light of the screen slowly dies out over time. Taylor_C
Your signature is awesome, Skanero. In regards to the OP; Macs are designed to stay on, sleeping or not, so they're always ready for use. Fridgerator
if u didnt turn your macbook off for such a long time. Did you keep it plugged into the power adapter? And if I turn off my macbook, should I still keep it plugged into the power adapter? OSXtasy
It's perfectly fine to leave it on, except for the point that you WILL be getting more dust sucked inside. Usually that is not a bad issue (when dealing with a desktop like my MacPro), but with my MacBookPro, I turn it off when not in use for that very reason. It's hard enough for the MBP and MB to even stay cool with no dust, so why expose it to more. Now, even tho I turn off my MBP when not in use, I still take it outside and blow it out as best I can with my 130psi air compressor every 3 months (of course only at around 40-60psi using light "blasts") I save a ton on compressed canned air this way, considering I have 12 machines (4 are laptops). Man, they really should not have removed the side slits (gills) on the chasis of the MBP that it had when it was the "powerbook". I think it really would have made for WAY better cooling to have air come in from those "gills" and exhaust thru there it exhausts now (at the hinge). Bad design.....ughh Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55030-leaving-a-macbook-on-overnight/#findComment-402875 Share on other sites
Colonel
If you leave your MacBook on overnight it will explode into a fiery ball that will be visible from space. EFI
My MBP has been on for just over a month non-stop...still runs cool and fast without breaking a sweat. This is a heavy duty mobile powerhouse...might as well put it to good use. Dont worry...your Macbook will be just fine running on. sarahbau
I had my PowerBook on for 312 days before it decided it didn't want to wake from sleep after I moved to a new apartment. It was still running 10.4.4 after 10.4.8 came out because I didn't want to update it and have to restart. lol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55030-leaving-a-macbook-on-overnight/#findComment-406493 Share on other sites
