Stony
Hi StonyHow did you get the correct CPU ID information? I took the loginwindow.kext from my 10.4.9 backup. Overwrite, correct permissions, delete catche and reboot. skeo
First let me just say, I'm ready for the many tongue lashing I'm about to receive. I foolishly ran the 10.4.10 update (Intel)from the apple software update link and now I'm stuck in a continuous reboot. Is there any to fix this problem, or am I forced to reload. For future reference, I will search first and ask questions later. Oh yeah, I'm a novice, need some good instructions. Thanks MG I had the same problem you did... what I did was boot back from install DVD...then ran the Terminal..and copied the old...System.kext, AppleAPIC.kext, AppleACPIPlatform.kext, AppleSMBIOS.kext and IOATAFamily.kext back into the System/Library/Extensions and then rebootted using 8.9.1 kernel. that worked for me..hope it works for you.. Stony
Succesfull updated new kernel: http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/8166/screenshot1jl0.jpg How did you boot from the DVD? When I put it back in, it just went into the setp menu. I there a button I;m suppose to push or something like that? Thanks MG Nono.. You have to boot from your setup DVD and open Terminal, System Profil or what you want from there. You can't boot your OS from this DVD. Well, just search for TubGril DVD 10.4.9 and for 10.4.10 Update around the web and irc. You'll have to reinstall your OS with a newer version (a I said above) and update it then to 10.4.10. vulcanlucas
PascalW, I downloaded your SSE3 AMD package but when I double-click on it, it says "Open Failed". I ran the installer within using the "Show Package Contents" but it then just boots eternally... the boot screen is active but it never gets into the OS. I'm using uphuck's 10.4.9 dvd v1.3 for SSE3 AMD and it works fine. What it the correct procedure for using your update? Thanks! vulcanlucas
no, how do i go about doing that? i can see the file on the irc channel... Is it normal that PascalW's AMD update does not work unless you choose "Show Package Contents"? If someone could write down a step by step process for making this work, that would be great! SteveNZ
Sometimes you beginners really make me smile. Double clicking a package is not hard, but installing two packages instead than one is less clean. Probably that wouldn't make any difference for you, but it does for me. Don't be so condescending. I just use the normal System Update and then replace the required bits. Works fine. Plenty of noobs need it all automated though. marliwahoo
It had been some time since I installed osx from scratch. So I installed uphuck 1.03 - did the 10.4.10 upgrade via software update - replace the kernel, r3d3, AppleSMBios.kext & AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext. Repaired permissions and updated prebinding. Works great ! Ill be very grateful if anyone can help me with this. Thanks Friends! (Grateful for InsanelyMac owners too!!) josh256
Most [if not all?] hackintoshes should show as an "Apple Development Platform". Regardless you should have an immediate kernel panic without the old ACPI kext.. the others aren't as important (eg. you should be able to at least boot into single user mode if not right into the OS X GUI). Quickest way would be to boot Uphuck then copy it back to your drive from there (cd to your drive and restore your own 10.4.9 backup of the kext or take the Uphuck DVD's version) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/54678-10410-upgrade-sucessful/page/9/#findComment-396046 Share on other sites
jbond
Hi Guys..so updated to 10.4.10 ..with new kernel and new r3d3. Also had to put in the new AppleSMBIOS.kext otherwise I was stuck with blue screen with mouse. ( I have never had to put a AppleSMBIOS.kext since I installed from JaS 10.4.6 ). So Everything is working with the new kext except I had to back out into 10.4.9 version of the AppleIntelEthernet854x. This was the only kext that they updated in IONetworkingFamily.kext and it does not seem to work on my system. The 10.4.9 version worked without a problem, and is currently what I am using, however, the new kext loads except it cannot detect the speed and the link on the line. Just curious to find out if anyone else had this issue with the AppleIntelEthernet after the new update. Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/54678-10410-upgrade-sucessful/page/9/#findComment-396104 Share on other sites
nkm82
Also had to put in the new AppleSMBIOS.kext otherwise I was stuck with blue screen with mouse. Me too, also I had to downgrade the NVidia kexts to 10.4.9's ones and replace loginwindow.app from my 10.4.9 backup. Thanks josh256! InflatableMouse
My upgrade from 10.4.9 is succesful, but itunes no longer plays anything. I play a song, the title shows, time remaining shows, but the song never starts. I can use the slider and it will sit at the point I drop it, but then it just sits there as if its on pause. Nothing seems to change this behavior and I've used Itunes daily so far. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this? Itunes is up2date. [edit] Hmm I see I no longer have an audio device installed? [/edit] Cool I found this thread with a tip on how to fix the sound problem.
