One could make a split dmg image (standard with Apple Disk Utility, normal compression), with every part just 100 megs in size, then upload every part under a completely different name to a hosting service like rapidshare. Then use some link protection site to even more conceal the real filename, and finally bring out a list with those links. In the case, that some links are removed, only they need to be replaced.

the name doesn't matter, I've already suggested it in #leoleak, encrypted communication+trackerless distribution = no tracker to shutdown or owner to send a C&D, no clients to sue. everyone's free to download without fears, but what we need is anyone that actually seeds because no WWDC07 attendant has seeded it (the OiNK seed couldn't be checked for it's authenticity as no one got a full copy)

Okay people. the whole "hint, random name" thing is useless. (the way you plan to use it)

A better idea: Someone makes a torrent with a random name (Teletubbies Season 1 FULL.torrent?) that has Leopard in it. Seed it to about 10 people, who get the full copy and become seeders. They each seed it to 5 people, so now we have a total of 61 seeders. Then, post the torrent all over the internet and Apple will be powerless.

Or, just post it to usenet. If you don't want it bad enough to either wait for it to filter down to torrents - which would happen within a couple of days - or pay $3 for temporary access then you clearly don't want Leopard badly enough. Usenet protects the posters privacy far, far more than torrents do and once it's there it's impossible for Apple to get it removed. Seriously, torrents are the WORST way to spread this around.

Just torrent it... I dont care if i kill my oink or demonoid ratio a little and if i have to wait several days to download. Bittorrent is more accesable for people (mainly teens) who dont/cant buy stuff online. As nice and secure and fast as usenet is... Bittorrent tends to be my personal choice.

"to a hosting service like rapidshare"

In the case that anything comes of the split & upload to filesharing sites plan:

PLEASE DON'T USE RAPIDSHARE!

There are so many alternatives without Rapidshare's draconian restrictions: Mediafire, DivShare, SendSpace ...

personally i don't think this thread was the greatest of ideas....anyone actually watching this thread now has all ideas of where it's going to end up....so we're basically screwing ourselves over if we think we're gonna post how it's distributed here and get away with it.

This is how I distributed every build of OS X Intel (10.4.1-10.4.4) to you guys:

I'd make a decentralized torrent in Azureus and send the magnet link to a few of the guys and they'd download it and then I'd make a real torrent and get them all on it and we'd seed it to everyone.

Plus, I don't have to worry as I'm in Canada and our ISP's don't like giving out our information.

There isn't a method of distribution on the internet that Apple's ninjas don't know about. We're not telling them anything they don't already know.

Heres an idea : Stop making useless threads that are going to be locked anyways.

If they didn't keep locking them people wouldn't keep making them. It's clear that people want to talk about this. If you don't want to be a part of it then don't read the thread and don't post in it. Deceptively simple.
