also i took a screen shot of what ubuntu says about my 3945. .since you where saying something about wrong device id's ?

here are all the files i have

thanks,

David

Sorry , don't know how to help you. but the message in photo show your iwiw3945 have a "Alive received.", I think your 3945 is getting work...

Since 0x42228086 is included in the <string>, everything it's fine because the <string> is a list of possible matches, as in IOPCIMatch.

If you wanted to though, you could remove 0x42278086 and there would be no change in operation.

Thanks,

I think I have lost all hope.

ok, here is the readout from the getlogs.command

does this look normal? maybe this is why i dont get the dmesg readout.

Hi,

Something similar happens to me if I double click the .command file. So I copied it into my home directory (the default start up path for Terminal) then just open the Terminal and go into "su", enter your root password, then "./getlogs.command".

That worked for my.

Good luck.

iwi3945 rev 380. Here are my logs:

dmesg.txt

ioreg.txt

system.log.txt

In dmesg I see these lines:

iwi3945: Tx timeout = 0
iwi3945: Rx timeout = 0
...
iwi3945: Error sending POWER_TABLE_CMD: time out after 0ms.
iwi3945: Error sending BT_CONFIG: time out after 0ms.
iwi3945: Error sending RXON: time out after 0ms.
...
iwi3945: Error sending ADD_STA: time out after 0ms.
...
iwi3945: Error sending RATE_SCALE: time out after 0ms.

Maybe this timeout = 0 is the culprit?

Hi

thans for next version of iwi3945

I use iwi3945 rev 380 on OS X 10.4.9 with 8.9.1 kernel - no kernel panic, no card or interface in "System Profiler", but system boots up much longer.

That's because the driver is continuously using up resources. My Core 2 Duo had an entire core get eaten up by that driver. I usually have a hard connection to the Internet anyways, so I uninstalled the driver, just to cut my CPU a little slack.

Good job on the driver, its working for me. I have a Toshiba Satalite M65-S9092, and am using the iwi2200 (rev.380) driver. Installed the package, rebooted, opened network from sys prefs and "PCI Ethernet Slot pci8086, 4220" was detected. I then opened the network selector, searched for available networks, then jumped on one. :(

Any ideas where/how I can edit the name "PCI Ethernet Slot pci8086, 4220" to something else? It's obviously not a big deal, just wondering. Thanks again.

LordNight Kingdom Tm!!!! Read the post`s on the forum, the 3945 driver is in developmant and it its not working yet. Jalavoui is doing the best he can witouth the 3945 card, he is programing in the "blind" and is doing a hell of a jobb! The driver is never going to be based on the airport devise since this is a closed system. When the driver is ready like the 2200 driver there wil be an network utillity app to contoll the driver. For now this app is in comand line bout people are working on GUI.

STOP BUGGING THE FORUM!!

Hi Jalavoui,

Can you take a look at this? I found this in device properties under XP:

the only entry on your ioreg is:

pci8086,27a0

so try it in info.plist

anyone with logs like this should also try it

iwidarwin script for creating log files to help debuging iwi's driver

i'll put it in iwidarwin soon

http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/

iwi2100 rev 381

panic fixing - maybe

iwi3945 rev 382

more testing

i just looked at the new acer core 2 duo

it seems that i might manage to install a 3945 card in my old travelmate 4100

i'll try - if i break the computer i'll ask you guys for a new one :pirate2:

anyone who's willing to send me a 3945 card mail me to jalavoui@gmail.com

the card must fit in this:

http://www.acer.co.th/product/travelmate/4100/index.htm

i think the problem will be the 2 leds (wireless and bluettoth) - the 3945 might not fit in this

getlogs.command.zip

jalavoui, i had a similar output with the 8086, 27a0, and i put it in the Info.plist and took out the others and nothing was recognized.

you and others with this problem need to check ioreg for the right vendor/id (see it from windows, linux)

maybe there's some compatible device with 8086,4222

i an see in your logs that the driver is doing nothing

can someone check this?

the only entry on your ioreg is:

pci8086,27a0

so try it in info.plist

anyone with logs like this should also try it

Sorry but i don't know what should go in info.plist

where do i put pci8086,27a0? I mean the syntax...

here?

<string>0x42228086 0x42278086</string>

thanks

ok, i got an idea, i found 2 other pci8086 strings in my ioreg. one is

8086,27da and the other is 8086,27d8, along with the 8086,27a0.

If i put all three of these in the info.plist, do you think that would work?

those two are the only other 8086's in my ioreg.

to remove the old one open terminal and first type this:

sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/iwi3945.kext

enter password

now, the iwi3945 kext is removed, run the attached program and reboot.

the program is a simple chown, chmod utilitiy to repair disk permissions and delete

the cache files.

Repair___Set_Permissions_1.0.zip

ok nvm, i tried to add the other 8086's, nothing was recognized. when i have the 0x42228086 in there, its shown as the PCI, so ill just stick with that. osxonmylaptop, are you not getting yours recognized?

I don't know what to add in the Info.plist, I guess is in this line:

<string>0x42228086 0x42278086</string>

Should I put something like this?

<string>0x42228086 0x42278086 pci8086 27a0</string>

Im just waiting to try

tprins228 and everyone else thinking of adding all the 8086,xxxx to their Info.plist:

In short,

27a0 is Mobile Intel® 945GM/PM/GMS/940GML and Intel® 945GT Express Processor to DRAM Controller

27da is 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller

27d8 is 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio

So I wouldn't add any of those to any iwi info.plist unless you just want to confuse the iwi driver :(

You can see the whole list at DriverAgent.com (very slow to load)

Curiously though, I did not see the 2100 listed.

Thanks for your precise explanation, I lost my hope again :(

ok osx, for you, i guess the smartest thing to do would be to wait until the next rev comes out and then test that one. judging by your readout, you have the 8086,4222 card, and if its coming up under network in system utilities as a PCI Ethernet device, then as far as i can tell, everything is normal.
