kinwah.lai
Alright lemme know if i'm doing something wrong.I'm using an ASUS A6000 Pentium M 725 1.6GHz, 512 RAM, with intel Wireless BG 2200, Ethernet: Detected but grayed out in the preferences. WIfi: Not detected FW: ok connected and fully working 1.I get it all downloaded (MacOSX10.4.7 from apple.com, IO80211family.kext, IONetworkingFamily.kext, Apple80211.framework, and the iwi2200 V6.) 2 copy via terminal not to alter the file and reboot 3. I Open Tabs in Safari: This discussion! The instructions from iwidarwin -Google Code. 4.I Open the Terminal: Then i start with this -sudo chown -R root:wheel iwi2200.kext then i copy my kext to Extensions folder therefore -sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/iwi2200.kext Then reboot and nothing is happening. I've tried the same thing except that i'm repairing ownership before reboot. It's driving me crazy am I doing something wrong? i think u left this command before u load the kext - sudo chmod -R 755 iwi2200.kext Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/22/#findComment-294043 Share on other sites
nurlewis
Jazakum Allahu kheir! May All-Mighty God reward you all with good! Its working!!! I'm using 10.4.6, 2915 ABG, Inspiron 6000. I was running windows (I have a dual-boot) and reading this thread. Then, I RESTARTED my cpu, booted into OS X and it was connected! However, the airport icon on my finderbar did not change...I looked into system preferences, and clicked network to see if I was connected. There is something weird about my cpu...when I'm running windows and I RESTART the cpu, boot in to OS X, my wired network doesn't work. However, when I SHUT DOWN my cpu, and then boot into OS X, I can connect to my wired network easily. But, with the wireless, I had to restart it from windows and it worked. So, I hope this helps someone. Thanks again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/22/#findComment-294246 Share on other sites
eLMafUDd
I think that's due to the wireless card is still 'on' from in windows. And as OS X cannot turn on the card, it isn't detected when just booting into OS X. minimoa
I installed iwi3945_v2.kext and now I get a kernal panic when I boot into OSX. Is there anyway to remove the driver? Boot with -s and follow some instruction on your screen to mount your mac partition with read/write and you delete iwi3945.kext Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/22/#findComment-294328 Share on other sites
macmanr
Tried the install procedure, but get the error message : Cannot resolve dependencies for kernel extension iwi2200.kext/ What i did : I have jas 10.4.7 install dvd. Downloaded update 10.4.7 (intel) copy the files needed to extensions folder. Put the rights on the files. yesterday i tried it with a blanc installation (so without the files from 10.4.7 update), and i got an airport icon on my screen. It didnt work btw, so i thought let me try the files from 10.4.7(update). Perhaps someone knows what i'm doing wrong here ? Thanks! eLMafUDd
How did it not work the second time around? (Blank install) Because if the airport icon shows up it should be working. To my knowledge it cannot search or associate to a specific network. You have to set it to automatically connect to open networks (Password-less) and then it should automatically connect to yours. macmanr
the strange thing was : when i did a blank install from the dvd. And put in the iwi2200.kext /System/Library/Extensions and tried i could load the iwi2200.kext After a reboot, it showed me an airport icon. With : <key>p_disable</key> <integer>1</integer> it shows : When i click on the airport icon : Airport : Not configured Same message with <integer>0</integer> Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/22/#findComment-294389 Share on other sites
fonkyfresh
HI i've tried to perform the exact same process by adding the chmod mod but nothing showed up. Nothing changed. No warning sign at boot that says i've failed or anything. Nothing showing up neither in the System Preferences nor the Airport logo upper right... Any solution? macmanr
Hmm.. I reinstalled osx from scratch. using the iwi2200.kext (v6) What i noticed is that when i installed the kext.. I have internet. When i do ifconfig : EN0 = normal ethernet, but then its my wireless 2200 card. After a reboot en0 = again my ethernet card without cable and status : inactive. So i can use internet 1 time, and then it stopped When its working, i still have an airport icon on the top of the screen with : Airport not configured. lost here also.. have no idea what to do. sonarMTL
I have a Intel 3945ABG that I'm not using and I'm willing to donate it to any active developer, Just pm me an address and I'll send it there. I've pulled it from a Dell Inspiron 6400 so I guess you'll need a Dell Laptop to use it. Let me know. Maybe by donating this card to someone in dev, I'll help 3495abg get supported in OS X. Cheers! patatester
I would like to clear things up concerning the status of the Intel 3945 Wireless driver. In order to minimize the amount of work that goes into the debugging of problems related to people trying the driver, The driver currently WILL NOT WORK. For anyone who would like to help debugging the driver, please try it and report your dmesg, ioreg and system.log here. Loading the kext from within a terminal would also prevent kernel panics and therefore boot problems for some. Therefore, use the following commands: sudo -s chown -R root:wheel iwi3945.kext chmod -R 755 iwi3945.kext kextload -v iwi3945.kext That way, if your kernel locks, you will be able to simply reboot without resulting a kernel panic every time your start your mac. Hope this clarifies the status of the 3945 driver for some. rathalos
Another point to add for patatester's reply: DO NOT UPDATE YOUR AIRPORT EXTREME FROM APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE, IT WILL KILL YOUR WIRELESS DRIVER DO NOT USE 10.4.8 IO80211FAMILY.KEXT AND APPLE80211.FRAMEWORK use the IO80211Family.kext and Apple80211.framework from 10.4.7, otherwise you will come crying to us on how come it doesnt work, or how come it crashes on boot etc..... nurlewis
driver version: iwi2200 v6 test debug os: 10.4.6 io80211Family.kext: version 1.0 kernel: i don't know (i installed 10.4.6 using jas' disk) status: works (on an open network with broadcasted ssid after restart) rates: don't know, seems a bit slower than windows IP connection: yes, dhcp p_disable: 0 P_led: 1 p_mode: 0 10.4.8: 1 Other: At school, the SSID is not broadcasted and I haven't been able to connect to the network. Once I plug in to the internet, after a while, my airport says that its connected. But, when I unplug the network, the airport gets disconnected. At home, I usually have to restart the cpu in order for it to connect. I don't know how to post logs for the kext file, so maybe I'll learn soon and post them.
