Beta 6 - on the M4, M1 and my Mac Pro hack all done.   The Mac Pro hack downloaded first, surprisingly, (also the smallest at 2.7GB) then the M1, and bringing up the rear, last, the M4.

But, pretty straight forward update, no drama.

Audio is fine on everything (Mac Pro hack uses HDMI, and it's always worked  so no change there)

Intel lucy and my 10G adapter fine on the Mac Pro hack (so much faster than the Aquantia I used to have)

No issues with Ethernet on the M1 and M4

No wireless of course (on the Mac Pro Hack) - but all fine on the M1 and M4, no problems)

USB-Ethernet adapters not working on the Mac Pro hack, but are fine on the others.

  • MacPro7,1
  • WhateverGreen enabled during the update
  • SBM disabled
  • SIP 03080000
  • RestrictEvents with revpatch=sbvmm
  • Incremental updates (but not on the M4!  - full update!)
  • Performance improved on everything - via Geekbench 7 - stats on the M4 CPU and GPU very much improved.
  • Performance on the Mac Pro hack - nice improvements across the board (CPU and GPU)

@surfinchina Un nouveau WEG ? Au moment de la rédaction de cet article, la différence entre WEG 1.70 (version publiée) et 1.7.1 (non publiée) réside dans le fait que la version 1.7.1 a été incrémentée.

@deeveedee Modifications was made before, look global tree https://github.com/acidanthera/WhateverGreen/commits/master/

Version 1.7.0 dated from december 29, 2024 (1.7.0)  . Yes version fom june 24 is the same binary except it has stiil version 1.7.0 .

I don't see the full detail if anybody has the same issues with macOS Tahoe.

As I understand it, MykextInstaller restored all Beta 1 files. That's why the icons are the original metal version. If you want the latest, current icons, download the latest icon (IOStorageFamily.kext), copy and paste it into Library/Developer/KDKs/KDK_26.0_25A5279m.kdk/System/Library/Extensions . Then, reinstall MyKextInstaller and select either the (AppleHDA.kext) or (IOStorageFamily.kext) desktop entry. It will install all Beta 1 files and the latest version (IOStorageFamily.kext) you copied and pasted IOStorageFamily.kext.zip

I agree that there were no patching changes, but 1.7.0's  macOS constants were updated (from 1.6.9) for Tahoe.  Without this update, WEG required -lilubetaall or -wegbeta boot-args.  See here.  The only change from 1.7.0 -> 1.7.1 at the time of this post is a version change.

EDIT: I have seen some claim that WEG 1.7.1 fixes problems for them.  I can only surmise that the placebo effect is powerful with them.

Between Commit 3251496 and Commit ba8050c yes, but between original 1.7.0 (Commit 6e832e6) and Commit 3251496 included all have same version 1.7.0

To all:

Update from Beta 5 to Beta 6 (Z390 machine, SMBIOS iMac20,1, Opencore): same issue as before.  Reboot for the last stage. Then stuck on login screen after entering admin user password. The HD is not encrypted (no FileVault). 🥲

As before, I will wait at least an hour for the desktop to appear (I hope).  I can't find a solution to this annoying problem.

@Matgen84 Sorry to see that you're still experiencing this problem.  It seems to be unique to your hack unless I missed someone else having the same problem.  Do you have an active thread dedicated to your hack where we can review and hopefully diagnose the problem?

My Intel Power Gadget works now with beta 3 :)

Possibly taking out nootRX and putting back WEG did it, I have no idea what these things do lol.

Does anybody experience Intel Power Gadget  crash ?  It was working in beta1 to beta4 . In beta 5 & 6 I tried to add nootRX and disable WEG. Since then it does not work even if I reverted to WEG enabled and nootRX disabled ?  Any idea?

@deeveedee Thanks for your comment. Apparently, I am the only one with this problem on this very popular discussion thread. The advice I was given did not address this issue. After multiple checks, I am certain that this is not a problem with FileVault.

Open a specific thread? I don't know if I'll get more answers. What is certain is that I need to be able to find the cause of this problem. I've got this issue because macOS Tahoe is installed on an HDD? I don't have SSD or NVme drive.

If you want help to diagnose, a dedicated thread for your hack would be best.  The HDD is an interesting twist.

So I moved the SATA SSD HD that I had put on Beta 5 to my Z390 motherboard. It booted with no problem. Using RX 470 with SMBIOS iMac20,2 I haven't tried the installer but it installs fine on the other system. I doubt it is the HDD.

Even if that doesn't sound like the FileVault issue: have you already tried the workaround to deactivate apfs jumpstart and load apfs_aligned.efi?
