Little late to the party, been busy with my projects, but I've downloaded and used the full installer to update the previous beta with the 5th beta. Everything went smoothly and no FileVault BS on my end. Same as the previous updates using the full installer.

I have tried in Alder Lake with SMBIOS 20,1. The kext is loaded, IGPU with AGPM, but DGPU is used for encoding/decoding. So, it is just cosmetic.

Thanks for testing. I removed the HDMI cable from the graphics card and connected it to the motherboard. It boots and then stops. I think We need help from OCLP.

@nmano Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but OCLP cannot patch Intel Gen 13 iGPU. Intel Gen 13 iGPU is not supported by any version of macOS. That is why you must keep your displays connected to dGPU video ports on your hack.

As indicated by stefanalmare, your fix for working Intel Gen 13 graphics is purely cosmetic, not functional.

WEG is disabled in my OpenCore config.plist and both Sequoia and Tahoe work without problems... So what is the WEG role now?

Edit : Maybe because I use an AMD 580 and not the igpu?

Hi.
If you use Automatic Appearance:
System Settings > Appearance > Automatic

And you want to use a Lake Tahoe Dynamic Wallpaper (Sunrise, Day, Sunset, and Night):
System Settings > Background Image > Your Photos > Add Photo...
Have a great weekend!

Note: The Dynamic Wallpaper is attached.

EDIT:
Since I'm an apprentice... {laughs}.
Wallpapers will be changed at:
6:00 AM - Sunrise (Duration between 6AM and 8AM)
8:00 AM - Day (Duration between 8AM and 5PM)
5:00 PM - Sunset (Duration between 5PM and 7PM)
7:00 PM - Night (Duration between 7PM and 6AM)

@webipsum   Try this

https://github.com/trey-a-12/LaunchBack/releases/tag/v1.0.0-initial

it's not like Launchpad Saver.

It doesn't let you organize icons, and to scroll windows you have to hold down the left mouse button

you can put this  https://macmousefix.com/it/  to solve

Tks.
Does it allow you to group apps into folders?

Ok. Tks again...

I read the readme on Github:
Many things are still a Work in Progress (WIP) for future releases such as the Settings window (which is currently a placeholder), you cannot reorder applications, and there are no folders... yet.

Ok.  So I installed the updated USB kext and disabled Weg.  Cleared nvram twice and attempted install.  I actually got past the prohibited sign into the first verbose screen.  There it stopped.  I am attaching screen shot for your viewing pleasure and possible interpretation.  Hope you can help.

Cheers, Howard

I have updated beta 4 to beta 5 with no issues.

  • MacPro7,1
  • no WhateverGreen
  • SBM disabled
  • SIP 03080000
  • RestrictEvents with revpatch=sbvmm.

Things that didn't work in beta 4 but now do:

  • Snapshots using Command + Shift + 4. Previously, a warning appeared stating that the screenshot couldn't be taken; now the screenshot works correctly (including decoration).
  • Close System Settings window using the keyboard (Command + Q).

Things that worked in beta 4 but don't:

  • Bring back the classic LaunchPad. In my opinion, this is a bad move on Apple's part. I'd prefer to have the option to choose between both designs.

Interestingly, it has already been mentioned that applying the AppleHDA.kext patch reverted the desktop icons back to their original state. I have two Tahoe drives, one with the patch applied and the other as is. From the unpatched macOS, I see the new icons except for the one from the patched macOS, which is the old one.

I will try and let you know.

This can be bypassed with "PCI Configuration begin" npci=2000 or npci=3000. I've seen it mostly on Ryzen processors. As you know, there's no OCLP for the HD4600 yet for the Tahoe.

I waited for 20 minutes for the screen to advance.  It did not.

I will try PCI Configuration begin tomorrow when I have figured out where to put it. The processor is Haswell.  🙂

Ok.  Some good news and some quite bad news.

After using the adjustments listed above and some further refinements I was able to install Tahoe and walked through the set up screens with difficulty.  The mouse responded very very slowly to each window.  I declined FileVault and got through the install.  I rebooted again after getting a blank white screen.  This time I got to the desktop with two icons showing and the upper menu bar only.  Nothing along the bottom so initially I had no access to any installed apps like Safari.  I did manage to get into system settings and Safari through a back door.  I realize that my onboard graphics are a problem and probably why I am having trouble with the screen.  I did use Safari to get to OCLP picker hoping to correct but they don’t seem to be supporting Tahoe yet.

So I guess I am stuck till hopefully support arrives…

Thanks for all your help for now.

Cheers, Howard

Try to configure your iGPU in Device Properties (in case it's not already). Here's what you need to add/change. Adapt to your case, as necessary.

Tahoe is a bit pickier than others when it comes to graphics. So you need to make sure everything is set up properly.

So, choose an SMBIOS that is compatible with Tahoe (alternatively, I think you could also use -no_compat_check param in NVRAM > boot-args with your current SMBIOS). Haven't tested that thoroughly, so...try that, if you want.

In my experience with Tahoe so far, what's causing most of the issues is either Graphics, or, for newer devices (not your case), USB. So try to configure your framebuffers as described on that page, and see if it works for you.
