The fix from https://github.com/laobamac/OCLP-Mod/actions/runs/15883186157 has resolved the issue and made AppleHDA work again. As a result, AppleALC can regain its functionality. Thanks to the developer of OCLP-Mod, @laobamac.

It works 😀

Thanks @daliansky for the heads up and @laobamac for OCLP-Mod, which is basically a Chinese fork of the OCLP project.

  • To download from @daliansky's link, you need to be logged in to GitHub (can easily create a free account)
  • The most recent nightly build includes a root patch to restore AppleHDA.kext to /S/L/E
  • Like the mainline OCLP, it requires SIP and Apple Mobile File Integrity (AMFI) to be disabled

Notes
1.  To disable SIP, add the value 03080000 to your OC config.plist/NVRAM/Add/7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82/csr-active-config (toggling off SIP using the OC main menu sets csr-active-config to 7f020000 ---> patcher will complain and refuse to patch).
2.  To disable AMFI, add the boot argument amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1 to OC config.plist/NVRAM/Add/7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82/boot-args or install AMFIPass.kext to OC/Kexts folder.  The AMFIPass.kext way is probably better since fully disabling AMFI with amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1 causes some apps like Firefox to crash.

3.  For English speakers like myself, it can help to run the mainline OCLP app first to get a feel for what the OCLP-Mod Chinese buttons mean.  Like the mainline OCLP release, it offers to patch the root volume and downloads and installs the relevant KDK into /Library/Developer/KDKs (need internet access during the patching process if KDK is not downloaded and installed beforehand).  After root patching is completed, it offers to reboot the system.

Spoiler

4.  The OCLP-mod app, like OCLP, is actually installed in /Library/Application Support (but laobamac folder instead of Dortania).  It also installs several login items in /Library/LaunchAgents and /Library/LaunchDaemons to check for updates and determine whether the system still requires root patching.
5.  The root patch will need to be reapplied with every macOS beta update for sound to continue working.
6.  Root patching can be reverted (press the "Post-Install Root Patch" button on the main menu screen, then press the second "Revert Root Patches" (middle button) to revert). There is also an uninstaller app provided on the linked OCLP-Mod page (or you can manually delete the OCLP-mod app and login items from the /Library folders described above).

Personally, I will probably stick with @Slice's VoodooHDA for now until the root patch is more tested for stability in Tahoe ie wait for it to be incorporated into the main OCLP project. Also, I prefer a manual kext install method over automatic patching if possible (I like to know what is going on and for security, don't want apps starting automatically at each login).

VoodooHDA works on my Fujutsu laptop, but on my Dell laptop it doesn't.

Do you guys know why this could be? I disabled AppleALC, have VoodooHDA inside OC/Kexts, as well as L/E. Have prefPane installed.

Does VoodooHDA work on every machine? Do I need to patch something?

Any ideas?

VoodooHDA Installer its enough install in L/E e cannot put twice kexts (one in EFI folder - not recommended BTW). ;)

Try this

sudo rm /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist

sudo rm /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist

Reboot

Good morning @Anto65 and everyone

Just woke up after a nice nap 😴

I fixed my issue  by reinstalling and everything is back to normal.

However life would be simple if everything was easy, so I reinstalled  & got ethernet back. Yeah! rebooted and the dreaded FileVault encrypted the drive , couldnt unencrypt. so another reinstall. I really dont mind because  Ive learnt so much and it is my test machine afterall.

I was thinking what will we do after say 3 or so years when Apple support stops  for Tahoe. I know, we all get together for a beer have a laugh & drink and after say the forth beer we cry in our beer glasses and say Why’ Why’  did we go through all this Why? because we are geeks that love to be different 😂 🤣 Just saying.

As long as there is good will from those who hold knowledge, the virtual scholars, even against those who fight against spreading knowledge, and thanks to good software engineers, nothing will prevent the use of MacOs in other circumstances. You can believe that the UNIX system will survive, and the first Hackintosh was commissioned by Jobs. ;)

I have a BCM card but I am sorry I will not be testing this package for Audio or Wifi if the whole program is in chinese and no way of changing it to English.

Like where did this dev come from? What rep do they have?

No offence but hard pass.

I would much prefer wait for official OCLP

Thanks maly! AppleIGC was needed for ethernet but I turned the rest off and so far so good. As a bonus I now have bluetooth. I'll get to work mapping USB ports now.

Asus Rog Strix Z690-I. I put a broadcom card in it some time ago which I might change if it becomes too much of a pain lol.

Tahoe is still crashing though. Beta I guess...

@Anto65 This OCLP Mod also cannot patch Tahoe. Says system version OS not supported

It installed fine. Audio is working but Wifi not. It's On but it can't find any network.

BTW, you using the wrong version, 2.6.4. it should be 2.6.5

The new commit does not contain any patch for my BCM94360CD. Just tested. It just applies the patch for AppleHDA and that's it.
