Ok next problem

Trying to do a createinstallmedia but errors out with this

Geoffs-iMac ~ % sudo /Applications/"Install macOS Monterey beta.app"/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume MyVolume

Password:

MyVolume is not a valid volume mount point

Do you try this instead: sudo /Applications/"Install macOS Monterey beta.app"/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Your-Volume-Name or sudo /Applications/"Install macOS Monterey beta.app"/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

This worked

Geoffs-iMac ~ % sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Monterey\ beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume

however, it is very simple to create the installer via terminal without external apps 🙂

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XSNzMpDQX0pZ6swCphvTeHglg5O10dlW/view?usp=sharing

I did that, but can't boot to the installer

Can anyone please share screen shot of power setting in Monterey please, on my amd rig options seem limited and the only comparison I have is a Intel laptop which will of course be different.

Can't boot to installer , don't know what I'm doing wrong should be straight forward .

OC 0.7.0 should be able to boot it.

Anybody with a working 0.7.1 EFI folder please

Sorry I don't have a working EFI folder for your motherboard 😢 Do you try ocvalidate to update your config.plist from OC 0.7.0 to 0.7.1 ! This tool is very helpful to show missing settings between two version.

Hi @STLVNUB - HenryV posted above some useful links where you may find a working EFI for your machine - https://github.com/topics/hackintosh?o=desc&s=updated - Good luck.

As a precaution, I always save a copy of the EFI on google drive or on Ntfs partition, by now it has happened, sorry can't you recreate it? For which  hw i5 9400f ?

I use dropbox but unfortunately save efi archive over same file name, should name as version

This 0.7.1 EFI is for my machine, it boots perfectly but you have to adapt it to your hack:

  • SSDTs can be different
  • IGPU DeviceProperties (if applicable)
  • ATI X570 (I have RX 580, no code in config.plist)
  • kexts can be different to yours
  • it has iMac20,1 SMBIOS.

I know this question maybe pointless but these two settings can be overlooked as in my case, have you checked the BIOS settings and disable SecureBootMode also disable TPM? These two settings will inhibit Monterey from booting if enabled, they can be enabled again after successful boot.

@STLVNUB

Check what Esaf says, TPM or PTT disabled in BIOS and SecureBootModel=Disabled in config.plist (my EFI has Default).

Have we got a list of supported / working Ethernet adapters for Monterey?

The list will be too long for the forum. See here LAN and Wireless

Why this question? You want to buy new one?

Thanks very much, I'm nearly there.

Was able to boot to installer with an EFI generated with OC_Gen-X

Same EFI folder was tweaked to boot to desktop.

Now to try yours Thanks so much

Smalltree kext is no longer working in Monterey so was seeing what options I have in case it does not get fixed.

For example PCIe RTL8111 should work

https://aliexpress.ru/item/32258465908.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.2f8255f6pU8E9u&algo_pvid=47613f3e-98ca-4646-84ee-6f17a53c37ad&algo_expid=47613f3e-98ca-4646-84ee-6f17a53c37ad-31&btsid=0b8b158f16267635732533736ed0cd&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_&item_id=32258465908&sku_id=56123908996

You also may acquire USB WiFi or USB LAN. At your will.

My Broadcom wifi and Bluetooth work great so I can survive for now and hopefully the devs of the kext will work out what’s wrong.

Beta 2 & 3 have been fine. Which one are you on?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am on beta 3 (21A5284e). OpenCore 0.7.1 and:

- Lilu 1.5.4

- AppleALC 1.6.2

- VirtualSMC (SMCProcessor / SMCSuperIO) 1.2.5

- WhateverGreen 1.5.1

- IntelMausiEthernet 1.0.3

- SmallTreeIntel 82576 1.0.6

- My USBMap.kext

All these worked no issue on Big Sur, not boot duration problems, but that's not the story with Monterey.

I tried to disable SmallTreeIntel but not change.
