@Matgen84 - I should imagine since you altered the structure of Beta3 by removing the Seal from the volume (Snapshot) you cannot now update only will allow a clean and full install and probably have to go through the whole process again if you want to remove Snapshot from Beta4. Quite frankly I think it's too much of a hassle having to do that each time for every update/upgrade.

Yes, that's right what you write .. but many people are too lazy or ignorant to remove this seal, because ONLY then you can configure everything correctly.

They are just happy that they were able to update successfully, but cannot intervene in the system because it is sealed.

I ALWAYS bother and use good instructions from the German user @ResEdit (again thank you !!) on how to successfully remove the seal and

then you can edit and adapt the macOS Big Sur just like Mojave or other optmal.

Here as well. Even compiled a new EFI as suggested.

Thanks @ileikcaek !

Got my issue fixed . As well as cleaning up my config.plist via opencore sanity checker. Attaching my EFI . Hopefully it helps people with the some issue I had

EFI.zip

AppleKey.png

nothing has worked for me i've got a x99 board with a haswell-e processor

what's exactly the fix for AppleKeyStore boot delay issue with Beta 4?

Boot stops at AppleKeyStore, then move on a bit more, then it stops again at

"tx_flush:1075: disk3 xid 18185 tx stats : 20 finish 20 enter 320 wait 0 0us close out flush 22494us"

Thanks!

*You need to remove vsmcgen=1

*Try OpenCore Sanity Checker:https://opencore.slowgeek.com

*This may also help you:https://github.com/Pavo-IM/OC-Gen-X

thank you so much on my specific case, the computer wont but without vsmcgen=1

i've already solved this on my x99 build by removing both:

booter-fileset-kernel and booter-fileset-basesystem

@Alex HQuest I did manage to create the installer USB for BS B4.

It boots up and went all the way to the install screen at which point I decided to do the clean install later.

With the downloaded full installer, when I attempt an upgrade from BS B3 to B4 I get this error.

I downloaded the installer using the script twice now, but still the same error.

setting UEFI > APFS > JumpstartHotPlug to true worked for me on earlier betas. Recovery Images booted fine after.

JumpstartHotPlug is activate since Beta 1. I can't boot Big Sur Recovery Partition, no problem for Catalina Recovery :)

Phantom GPU is still there, just not as a device now, its a IOResource

Screenshot 2020-08-05 13.14.51.png

First time I'm hearing about this thing with phantom gpu.

Checked and I have it also , on a Dell 5570 with only an Intel UHD 620.

Is there something I can to to make it go away?

If not , do you thing it can cause any problems?

Only thing I noticed on Big Sur is that sometimes (not all of the time) afrer waking from sleep GPU hangs at max 1.1ghz and the only solution is to reboot.

Is anyone able to boot to beta 4 using Clover?  Could you please post your EFI if you can?  Thanks. (I can boot using OC but would prefer to use Clover.  When I use Clover, I have problems with my custom kexts not loading.)

@mnfesq Despite of the last commit, Clover is not ready yet for Big Sur. All my tests are unsucessed

Since it manages to begin the install process, but fails loading something from it and doesn’t tell you what, I would suggest you to make sure you are connected to your Network before click Install macOS (check the wireless icon on the top right during the USB boot, and if you can open any web site using the provided Safari browser). Any files missing from the USB, even under the beta, can be obtained “on the fly” by the installer from Apple if your system is connected to the network.

Which file is missing and why it is missing, I don’t know - there should be an option to view the install log file somewhere (this log is created on the update partition everybody deletes) on the installer screen itself.

I can boot from Big Sur Bootable USB Installer && macOS Install Data with Clover r5120, but I have KP issue with IOPCIFamily* (deps. AppleACPI, AppleSMC..) on unsupported Platform (Arrandale) using MBP12,1 SMBios which has no problem under Catalina 10.15.6. No booting issue with OpenCore either (Legacy), but exactly same KP.

Hi @fusion71au, any idea on this? I've also tried modifying BaseSystem.dmg with replacing com.apple.Boot.plist > Kernel Cache from Kernel*.kc to prelinkedkernel (10.16) and I believe BigSur loads this (as EB / Early Boot report no ERR). Or can you tell me how to decompress prelinkedkernel removing some stuffs on it?

Thanks.

To those of you running Big Sur on Intel 10th Gen (z490), can any of you get the system to boot without using Opencore->Kernel->Emulate->CPUID emulation?

I can get Catalina 10.5.6 to boot without CPUID emulation, but Big Sur won't boot unless I enable emulation... using iMac19,1.

Also,

Is anyone else having issues with safari on Big Sur Beta4 with Javascript enabled? With javascript on, I can't access certain sites, like Apple.com, Facebook, Gmail, etc.  Very strange.

unfortunately I can't find the update to BS Beta 4 when running update from sys-pref, even if I already set swuswitcher.app to "developer program members". any suggestions to get the update through syspref?
