Just a note to all you polaris people, looks like 10.15.4 finally fixes DRM issues in safari. Was just able to load up Netflix fine and stream in Safari. I'm on iMac1,1 though, so it's possibe you may need some shiki values if on 19,1.

Yea I'm using 19,1 with the default shiki values from audio gods new EFI and no such luck getting Netflix to work in Safari.

  • Polaris owners should add shikigva=80 for iMac19,1 just like with the Vega for Netflix + AppleTV+.
  • For iMacPro1,1 or MacPro7,1 no need for shikigva bootflag and DRM is fully working (Netflix, Amazon Prime etc)

@AudioGod I can report that I see no issue related to Photoshop with the patch-less OC EFI. Image loads instantly, Save for Web loads instantly, and exported image is processed and saved instantly.

Here is a video demonstration with a file about 17MB large: https://streamable.com/s05yi

Everything is working like it should - Hate HDR for LG tho ;)

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed the awful HDR on some LG monitors.  Not just MacOS, but I've noticed similar (washed out colors, eye gouging reds) in Windows as well.  I had to turn all of it off.  Not sure what causes it, but its not very pleasant to look at for day to day use.

I know what the cause is, HDR SUCKs still when used in the OS itself. Sucks in windows and sucks on macOS. They just can’t seem to get it right without being offensive to look at.
Works good in some games or vids though but overall I just turn that {censored} right off.

Il leave that for Netflix and my TV :hysterical:

My monitor is calibrated with Xrite - not even close to HDR ;)

It was just a freak stream at playback I bet. it probably would of worked if you tried a second time after reopening safari. :thumbsup_anim:

For sure and who can blame you, its been so long since DRM worked on a Polaris that I would of done exactly the same thing after a few seconds of trying.

Hello,

I have a new PC with Aorus Z390 Pro Wifi, i7-9700k and Sapphire Radeon RX580. Can I use EFI and DSDT found in this thread? I want to use OpenCore, which one should I use? It's ok also for Mobo Wifi version (in any case wifi doesn't work in hackintosh)?
Thanks

Yes you can indeed,

You Can use any of the EFIs Marked Polaris buddy.

for clover its this one you want,

Clover Z390 Pro Polaris EFI 260320.zip - R5XX Polaris DSDT EFI

For NDK OpenCore its this one,

N-D-K 056 Z390 Pro EFI Polaris 040320.zip - RX Polaris Series DSDT Bios F12d

Yes! I have the Pro Wifi version and AudioGod's EFI works fantastically. I use Clover but his OC version has worked for me in the past. Be sure to use the Polaris version.

Oh thanks, so I have to download N-D-K 056 Z390 Pro EFI Polaris 040320.zip in alternative EFI if I want use OpenCore?
Work also with Mojave? Because for now I installed Mojave

@AudioGod, really can't thank you enough for keeping this thread updated with the newest info. With your lastest EFI and OSX update not only did it fix the DRM (with the help of @WizeMan advice of shikigva=80 for iMac19), but it also made sidecar work with out a hitch. I run an RX570 and prior to side car was extremely grainy and frame refresh was terrible and now it works perfectly.

I had all but given up on getting my getting my Hackentosh back up and running but this thread/your work saved it. Of course thanks to every one else who contributes I just really wanted to give some love for the continued help and share how excited I am now that I think just about everything is working great.

Give the new OpenCore A Try when I release it, It’s getting to that stage where it’s just epic so keep an eye out for that one buddy and thank you so much for the kind words.

i always appreciate hearing success story’s :)

Not sure if i would use 056 of opencore right now, it does not have the fix in place to stop the memory allocation errors on boot with the iGPU enabled.  Id maybe pull the latest clover from here for Polaris and run with that just now until the next opencore is released.  You could disable iGPU to work around this but then you'd probably be better just using a MacPro1,1 model rather than the 19,1 that thats aimed at as im not sure how 19,1 behaves with iGPU disabled, never tried it.

That’s all that’s available on my thread at the moment as the newer EFIs are on Beta as you know.

also OpenCore Beta and NDK Beta EFIs are strictly for Catalina from next release onwards. To many changes now have been done that won’t work on anything pre 10.15.

it will work

yup clover is out and fixed for 19,1 and 15,4

OpenCore and NDK OpenCore Version 0.5.7 are built and ready but awaiting official release and newer versions of WEG, appleALC, Lilu and most importantly virtualSMC before I release them out to everybody.

the day 0.5.7 turns release I will let them into the wild. :)

I would of waited on clover too because of the kexts but it was important to get it out now so people could use 10.15.4 . I’m going to have to update clover again too as soon as everything comes out of beta. I have a lot of work to do for you guys believe me,,,,I love it really :hysterical:

I changed BIOS settings how in first page, put NDK EFI OC folder in EFI but when I boot I don't see the SSD. Which is the problem?

I could be wrong but it sounds like your ssd might be installed in legacy mode, you can test this out by enabling CSM in the bios.

if that is the case then you need to change it because don’t want your ssd in that mode.
