I can dig up some washer for sure. That alone would go a long way and is dead simple, 5m fix.

yup exactly that one. they have put a thermal pad between the die and the cooler instead of paste believe it or not and that's why the temps are all over the place. the washer mod alone might help but that thermal pad needs to get the hell out of there trust me...lol

what were they thinking?

Money. Always comes down to trying to cut costs/boost profits. :hammer:

I dont know if doing that did save any money though, I reckon the pad costs more then a drop of mx5, I can't explain that one tbh its cos not a better solution.

Check out what @MaLd0n did,

that it totally insane, Apple should take note of that cos people would love a MacBook like that no doubt at all. Wow what a don :)

Thanks @texem :)

@AudioGod I bet Hacks don't even cost them 1% in lost sales. They probably lose way more to knockoffs or just plain theft, like those smash and grabs where people make off with $20k in Apple stuff while busting up an entire store.

what I mean is that is how apple should be designing there MacBooks cos people would love a MacBook that could do all of that with a touchscreen too. awesome work

Ohh, well it's Tim's Apple now. So far he's just exploded screen sizes and not much else. Miss u Steve

Dam right there, Miss Mr Jobs, the dude had style.

Hey thanks for the replies re using the IGFX, it's just a server but it'll throw one of the cards in that i've used OOB in the past and turn off IGFX and see if that helps at all. Shame the pro is not a stable board, i'd seen so much info on it i figured it was working well all over the place.

yeah but you don’t game do you or super stress the gpu and they are the things that make 1,1 go bye bye for all of us. Me and @larabee have both tried and for sure it’s got better but it still happens. Beta 4 has Navi fixes and that’s where my hopes are resting now brother.

@texem you good sir, all ok?

I only do audio rec and editing, a bit heavy though, but i havent noticed any lags or glitches, how igpu will help on video processing for example? Isnt the vega a beast on its own already? On windows gaming is blazing fast. Or there are other issues that make 19.1 more usable for our rig, meaning proper hardware match as you wrote before.

Since i already have 2 Pci cards and an nvme installed, enabling igpu will possibly put more stress on the lanes right?

Could you elaborate on changes made to DSDT? I'm on Wifi version at 12c. Your EFI works great with my current setup.

f12d you mean?

no changes for clover and only fixes in NDK OC continue as normal brother :)

I'm still on Mojave. Would you recommend update to the latest EFI anyway or is it not necessary? I still use some Audio stuff that isn't Catalina compatible...

if it aint broke then dont fix it :)

No F12c is latest BIOS version for Pro Wifi board.

Thanks! That means that since I update kexts, etc. as they become available I am current!

Your work is always appreciated!

ok unless you start off by saying the pro wifi I always think pro..sorry bud got ya

Nice, NDK 0.5.6 boots for me .. first time i can boot an OC 0.5.6 for some reason .. Wonder what was difference here, nothing popped out as being much different in config.plist .. needed to turn iGPU of but that seems to be par for the course...

One weird issue is the rear USB port i had kb in does not register, had to move to adjacent port.. no biggy.. will likely look into it later...

Will try this with IMP1,1 as thats what i think ill roll with now that i cant use iGPU these days.  Had issues with USB working last time i tried, probably down to the USB kext not having IMP1,1 personality in it ... Cant remember the previous kext for 1,1 that i used before we had 19,1 stable.

Cheers!!

So couple of things I've noticed on beta 4.

iMac19,1 there is video corruption saving a file in QuickTime. Not there on iMacPro1,1. Can't say if it's a new bug or not. Maybe someone on 19,1 can test this. https://file-examples.com/index.php/sample-video-files/sample-mov-files-download/ Download the 2.2 MB file. Open it in QT and then select save as and save it as a 720p. Play it back. You should see lots of corruption.

On 1,1. I noticed texem pulled the entry for the dGPU (I added it back in). I was also able to successful load 1,1 with the iGPU enabled in the BIOS. It didn't run in headless (makes sense) but the system ran just fine with it active.

Is there no Framebuffer for 1,1? I'm using 0x3E980003 for 19,1 but don't really see anything close for the 1,1.

no bud, the igpu is only good in our instances under 19,1,  1,1 is disabled only

@Cass67 @Tiem Hold on a while with MacPro1,1 I think we have found a better way, especially for us Navi users. Bare with me as I've been testing all afternoon with MaLd0n and am now conferring with Texem about it.. will get back to you soon with a test EFI my friends :)
