I've seen Taruga made support for ADI1988b codec, but I can't seem to make it work ;) . I'm new to the hackintosh scene, so please tell me, what am I doing wrong.

When I run the AppleHDAPatcher_v1.15.zip system crashes.

Here's what I did:

  1. Downloaded the AppleHDAPatcher_v1.15.zip
  2. Double-clicked the zip file on my desktop (which apparently extracted the content of the zip file)
  3. Downloaded the codec dump for ADI1988b codec
  4. Dragged and dropped the codec dump (.txt file) on the patcher, and system crashed immediately (... telling me I have to power down the machine ...)

I've tried to run the AppleHDAPatcher without dropping the codec dump on it (just double-clicking on it), and it also crashed.

Here's what I have:

  • Asus P5W64 PRO motherboard
  • Intel QX6700 processor
  • TP-LINK TL-651G
  • Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2].iso (I don't know which kernel does it use)
  • ... other hardware is probably irrelevant

Can someone please help me with this?

You have a quad, 64bit processor. I've found AppleHDA to not function properly in 64bit mode, so start up OSx86 with the flag "-legacy". It starts it up in 32bit mode.

That's what I had to do with my Core 2 Duo. 64bit mode screwed it up.

Is it proper practice to remove all related audio kexts before patching?

If not im guessing i need the default AppleHDA.kext and maybe others?

Im running Analog Devices AD1986A. I had tried 1.13, 1.14, 1.15 without any luck.. but i think i might be doing something wrong. Tried with my linux codec dump as well as the generic AD1986A.txt

Should I maybe try removing ACLInject.kext also ??

I want sound!!!

I have an E1505, which I believe is 9200. I got the sound working (even the volume buttons on the front work), however I can not mute it, through the buttons or sound menu. I can turn it down to minimum volume and it turns it real quiet, but still sound, and I can not hit the mute button. Anyone know? I noticed there was a lot of 9200 dumps, anyone find one that enables mute?

How about muting the speakers when the headphones are plugged in?

...I don't really want to read through 83 pages to find the answer, haha.

I use this commande on Terminal on Mac OS X86 10.4.8_JaS_with_ppf " uname -r " and I have a kernel " 8.8.1 " so it's ok ..........

I download the program " AppleHDA Patcher v1.15 " with file dump here " http://psykopat.free.fr/apple/AppleHDA/realtek/ "

I have ALC660 drivers because I use this on Linux Gentoo with Alsa and on linux in terminal I tape this " alsamixer " on the top I have my version of Drivers ............. so it's ok

I download 2 files " ALC660-c.txt " and " ALC660.txt " because I don't known wich one to use ...... so I use both files I have always warning ......... lol .......... Your need to reboot your computer, hold your power button several seconds or press the restart button ...........

Taruga, could you please just tell me if my linux codec dump file will work with your v1.15 patcher as I am pulling my hair out here. Trust me I do not have a lot of hair to spare...

Also, if you think it will work could you please also tell me what files SHOULD and should NOT be present, so I can ensure the proper patching takes place.

Thank you kindly in advance with every hair strand I have left!

I don't have good news for you. In the current state of development Taruga's patcher will not make your ALC861 work. I should know. I've been waiting for a miracle for the last 6 months. And given up.

I wish to thank to all those that tried to help me making ALC861 work under OSX. I now know that it is a very, very difficult task and I'm afraid that no one succeded on helping me, or the dozens of owners of ALC861 sound chips.

So, for all the people doomed to have their laptops silent, and mic less, I've come up with an answer. It's not the best one, but it will have to do for now.

I've posted a picture of my €15 solution: here

Have fun!

thanks for the great work first. it made me able to hear from my sigmatel 9200 on Dell E1705 finally.

a question yet, evertime after the computer comes back from a sleep, the earphone port stops working though the speaker still works. This shouldn't have been a problem, however, since i am using a dell computer, the only way to get both cores working is to sleep the computer and wake it up again. therefore, could any one help me out here?

thanks again.

Placa de som externa

Numa loja de electrónica, na minha cidade, Leiria.

Mas creio que deve haver em todo o lado. Lamento dizer que, antes desta, comprei uma placa de som externa pela estúpida quantia de 75 euro. ;)

Mas já tenho som!

Hi jjduro,

were you buy this?

Obrigado

NHJ, in what way am I not "respectuous for the work" like you say?

I run the v1.15 utility, drop the dump file on top of the icon of the patcher on my desktop, and the open window does not even blink, no feedback whatsoever, nothing happened! Reboot, no sound.

I was simply asking if maybe there is something wrong with my codec dump file, or maybe I 1st need to remove or add some extensions, BEFORE running the patcher, that is all. That is why I asked Taruga, who incidentally opened this thread and said to send him dump files so he can make the patcher compatible with my AD1981HD chipset, if possible.

Besides, have you even thought that the reason it does not work is that in 84 pages of posts so far no one, asside from me, had given Taruga an AD1981HD linux dump from a modern ThinkPad?

Jesus, getting flamed just for following the poster's rules and asking (politely I might add)... Where's the love man?

How do i find out which SigmaTel linux dump version i will need? I have tried several different versions (ie. STAC9200-*) I know that i have a sigmatel HD audio because i can see it in my device manager in XP. No matter which linux dump from Index of /apple/AppleHDA/sigmatel i put in the AppleHDA i get this message:

AppleHDA Patcher - 2006/2007 Taruga v1.15

Anyone got any ideas? I have a Dell Latitude D620.

I'm running a dell demension 5100 and cannot get sigmatel to work. I'm really new can someone give me a simple step by step guide? I originally had a Creative Audigy 2, but I was smart enough to enable the onboard sound (a sigmatel) in the BIOS. Now however, I cannot see any audio devices in system preferences. Please help, you guys seem really smart I have no sound.

JimmyMac, GET YOUR OWN DUMP!!!

Every system uses the codec in a different way. The ONLY way to guarantee you are using the right codec is to get your own dump using a Linux (Ubuntu) live CD.

If you need instructions, they're in this thread. Repeatedly. Just start reading backwardsand you'll come across them before too long.
