    The Hackintosh: Delivered

Pretty much... The people who want to be able to say in 6 months time that they own a REAL Psystar hackintosh, once the creators have been locked up or fled to Guam.

    Help

Unplug the Mac drive and you should be able to boot back into XP. As for the OS issue... If your PC can't boot the OS, not much you can do. Sorry.

BEST LAPTOP 100% Working, for installation

For goodness sakes, it's like a broken record. I don't want an answer to this, because chances are I'll never see this thread - but the ONLY laptop to buy if you want a 100% FULLY WORKING BEST LAPTOP is a Mac. They're not much more expensive than normal PC's and you never have to rely on the release schedules or ulterior motives of hackers and crackers to guarantee that your OS is secure and up to date. I think that too many people see this movement as a way of saving $50 than as a way of reusing a laptop or PC you already have, or of allowing you to build something SPECIAL that you can't buy in an Apple Store. You obviously "Think Different" from me otherwise you wouldn't have made this post in the first place. But before you pledge yourself to buying something that's fake and flawed, consider supporting the people who MAKE this OS you love, and saving yourself a WHOLE bunch of headaches. And if anyone's wondering, I'm on my third reinstall of the day. The three macs in the room, no problems.

iPhone SDK: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

CHUD tools run fine on a T4210, including Processor panel. Processor controlling varies from kernel to kernel.

[How to] Install 10.5.2 Update [TUTORIAL]

Some wierd messages about waiting for IOKIT, and the login window never appears. Everything just stays blue. Iatkos 10.5.1 (ver 2) + EFI + 10.5.1 AppleACPI + dsmos + Patch as applied here. No graphics update. Any ideas?

    Software Piracy

And with that comment, screw this debate.
  7. Superstition: Manages a whole bunch of iMac G4's which can't run Leopard and can't be upgraded to run Leopard. He's pissed about it. This topic is for you, baby. >> If an upgrade kit were made available I would do it, if the price were reasonable. We also have a contract with a servicing center and in a world where good machines like flat panel iMacs aren't designed to be thrown into the trash before their time, such a center would probably do such work. It IS much more efficient to use existing equipment if it's fully functional than it is to throw it into a landfill. Those flat panel iMacs in our lab have good LCD panels, good keyboards, good mice, good cases/steel arms, good ports, etc. The disposable mentality dictates that landfills and ecological disaster are generally out of sight and out of mind and that corporate profits and individuals laziness are more important than recycling and upgrading. << Discuss.

I am putting this issue into perspective. Funny, I'm sure that's what it says at the top of the page, you know - where it normally says the name of the thread. But it's STILL not piracy. Call that a typo on my part - I was pretty tired by that point. Seriously. Read the Oxford definition of Piracy. >> That's your opinion. Another mistake. You're probably right. I JUST DON'T CARE RIGHT NOW. PLEASE can we talk about SOFTWARE PIRACY!? I'll EVEN start a new topic about this FOR YOU. You don't have to lift a finger! EDIT: And here you go! Atheros (Visible on PSX3) not powering up?

Today I attempted to force the Wifi card to power up by setting it's PMC(SR I think) register to 0x2000 Unfortunately, as soon as I attempted to apply the changes the bus shut back down again. >.<

    CardBus/PCMCIA PC Cards for Leopard

The issue was seen on Tiger and not on Leopard (iATKOS updated). >> No, you really do NOT need to modify the plist. It automatically handles that. Will leave r8 stock first try, like I did r6, r7. >> What devices do you have with apples that you don't with Chun-Nan's? Two PCI-Cardbus bridges and an Airport card. >> More interested in the results from rev8. Will let you know when I've tested it.

    CardBus/PCMCIA PC Cards for Leopard

Have tried all combinations of: rev6,7 IOPCI/PCCARD and Native IOPCIFamily. As in native vanilla unmodified. Note the have tried IOPCI r6 r7. I'll give a few of the test versions a shot, and have a look at the sourcecode. Thanks. Graham.
  12. The usual 168c,001c cards - Apple and Fujitsu models. Detected in IORegistry Explorer but not working. Usual Atheros.cpp whatever loaded unsuccessfully. Using Native Leopard support with no patches to the PCI or Wireless extensions. Suggestions anyone?

    >> What IOPCIFamily are you using? Have tried all combinations of: rev6,7 IOPCI/PCCARD and Native IOPCIFamily. As in native vanilla unmodified. The Rev7 (No PCCard) didn't panic my system, but half my devices desappeared because of the old Tiger Enumeration issue. >>Can you take a picture of the panic with rev7 IOPCCardFamily AND IOPCIFamily ? No, my only camera is the one on my watch and the resolution isn't high enough to read. >> You do _NOT_ need to modify any parts of them at all (as it says in the first post..). Well, that's great if you have a system that reports it's model ID as "ADP2,1" - But mine doesn't. It reports as "LIFEBOOK T4210". I tried the unmodified Rev6, Rev7. Nothing. So I tweaked it with my ID and IO/Mem ranges. STILL nothing. >> What IOPCIFamily are you using normally? Apple's.

    Software Piracy

    >>We have two computer classrooms with over 70 of those machines. Do you think I can convince the university to buy all those parts and do you think I have the time or ability to hack 70 machines? And would you if it was to replace half the insides to standard components? Offering an official mass-upgrade service is not cost effective for ANY company to do. Any upgrade would be a self install kit and you would suffer similar financial and technical difficulty. >> Modular operating systems aren't necessarily burdened by legacy code. They simply don't switch the legacy stuff on until it's needed. It's always faster to do less. We could go back to System 6 >> on a Mac SE, look at how fast it boots, and pronounce it superior to current systems. I regularly do. With efficient coding, a P3 could do everything a modern computer needs. And if they're not burdened by legacy code, explain Windows? >> is an example of piracy on a staggering level No, It's an example of corruption and American conservative culture. It still sucks but check your definitions. Has little to do with software piracy. >> The controversial nature of the Iraq/military industrial complex rape of America doesn't make it irrelevant. Not irrelevant, just off topic. If a discussion can successfully continue it needs to remain narrow focused. At the moment you're turning a discussion on SOFTWARE PIRACY into one on PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE. See how those two phrases are spelled differently? It's because they're not the same thing. My biggest peeve with online discussion is the way discussions change their focus entirely. SOFTWARE PIRACY. Not environmental waste, not poverty. If you want to discuss those, START A NEW TOPIC. the people who want to discuss it can talk about it with you there, and I can happily continue to discuss SOFTWARE PIRACY here. In fact, for the record, one of my teachers still uses Powerbooks and Panther because it has features that he prefers over Tiger and Leopard. You're funnier than the other guy, I'll give you that. Any way you can fix the post mangling problem?

AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Hey Taruga! Have just dropped you a few to thank you for all the hard work you've been putting in off your own ass. It's not much. . . but it's what I could spare. On a completely unrelated note. . . The Sigmatel 9228 doesn't work on any of the leopard patchers. My Tiger patch was on v1.09. I'll attach my codec here as well as drop it in the email - but don't worry about it, I can live with switching to linux every now and then - V2 is more important than my convenience. Have fun, and knock yourself out! Thanks again, Graham.
