How can I see what version of the kernel I am running?

And does the latest version of the kernel + new drivers (for instance, NFORCE4 SATA driver) get into a new release of 10.4.8? Who makes this JaS package, the people here? Sorry I'm a bit new here and just getting into running macosx on my rig, which works LOVELY btw! Thumbs up for the people making this reality :P

Regards

Well I have not been able to install 10.4.8 on my P5PE-VM motherboard. I have tried all the jas dvd installers.

the kiko installers. I'm using a processor that is SSE3 ready I can install 10.4.6 with no problems. but can not update at all either as A new install or from a 10.4.6 install.

I don't know :censored2: . mine works perfect. did you install powermanagement.bundle fix?
yep. But I am not the only one for whome the bundle is not working with 8.8.1

if you get a kernel panic it tells you the date of the kernel at the bottom of the screen. But there might be a less deadly indicator .. :thumbsup_anim: Edited by BugsBunny

hi,

i have downloaded from rapidshare v. 03mpkg. in the installer i selected sf 9 kernel, install , restart, but in Systemprofiler > frameworks > kernel appears 8.8.1. im stupid whistle.gif

all the kernels in the package are versions of 8.8.1

open terminal and uname -a then enter, if you see kernel 8.8.1 with release date 10th january it's sf9.

we get the latest kernels from irc channel

#kernel @ irc.macspeak.net

hi!

I downloaded this package 10.4.8_pack_v0.3.mpkg because of drivers for my ULi chipset for SATA HDD. I have already 10.4.8. with semthex 8.8.1 kernel. So, if i install it and reboot 2 times i get a message that the APPLEVIAATA.kext was installed not properly and my SATA drive is disapeared. Repair permissions after install does not help..:)

Did somebody of you get the same problem? And how can i repair it?

Edited by DimQ

what was the problem with your sata drives before installing the appleviaata.kext?

maybe this can help http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...ata.kext+10.4.8

I'll check that installer in the package, if you can get working uli sata with the kext you modified, post it to me please

on a different note.. why is my rams identified as sdram (when it is ddr) ?

probably because "ddr" is not "ddr" it is "sdram ddr" people just call it "ddr" because its easier.

SDRAM stands for "Synchronuous Dynamic Random Access Memory" DDR is still synchronous dynamic random access memory, its just "double data rate."

So....DDR1/2 is still synchronous dynamic RAM its just double the data rate than regular.

I think this is why on video cards some places site ram speeds have (for example x1950 pro) 700 Mhz (1400 effective).

Hope this answers your question...if im wrong plz someone correct me, but i dont think i am. :(

Hi!

Everything is running great here, just updated to the SF9 Kernel!

Its super duper fast, but i have one problem:

I used my DVD-Burner without Problems for 1 Week, but after i updated to the new kernel, its not

recognized anymore... it's a NEC ND-2510A and it worked flawlessly before updating...

My Hardware:

Core 2 Duo E6300

Asrock Conroe945G-DVI

2 x 512 MB DDRII-800

Intel GMA 950

1 x Samsung 80 GB SATAII (Win)

1 x Samsung 250 GB SATAII (OS X)

We had some issues which were not be able to sort out. So we moved. But now we are back better than ever with a really relayable working kernel bot ;) Because everything went fine so far with our movement, the new releases are scheduled for tomorrow evening PST :)
