uphuck
hi, i prepared a package and started from eGWan's patch. This package includes 10.4.8 apple combo update patches(i updated the patches), 8.8.1 kernel archive including beta9 and some drivers. this is not only for apple combo update patch, you can just change your kernel or install a driver. the drivers and kernels are only for 10.4.8 8.8.1 kernel systems. read the instructions for 10.4.8 apple combo update patch. http://rapidshare.com/files/15241153/10.4....k.mpkg.zip.html Edited February 7, 2007 by uphuck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32827-infothread-nebukadnezar-amdintel-1048-kernel/page/15/#findComment-295657 Share on other sites

But I'd like the version is newer than beta 9 because beta 9 is not so good for Intel SSE3! Now, I'm using version SF9, any newer versions from Semthex? pdudas
Hi! I have an IBM X60 notebook with the following kernel: 8.8.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Sat Dec 9 22:18:27 AZOT 2006; semthex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386 My only problem is the power consumption (and the sleep does not work)(go to sleep, but does not came back from sleep). The notebook runs about 6-9 hours in WinXP from battery. In OS X (installed from JAS DVD and installed the laptop tools too) it runs about 3.5 hours. Power management set to better battery life. This is a high difference. In activity monitor I can see my 2 cpu's, but cannot see a high demand for this high power consumption. It seems there is about 95% idle on both cpu. My fan is going on the max speed, but the notebook is cold (the exhausted air cold too). I installed Parallels Desktop. In the parallels there is a windows XP. It works well. It seems the battery life not depend on the actual load. If I run the XP in parallels, the battery time stays the same. Do you have any idea how can I make an improvement on battery time? How can I be sure to have the Speedstep working well? How can I see the actual speed of my CPU's? Thanks in advance! limini
irc.macspeak.net #kernel Thanks uphuck! 2 questions: 1. sf9 is included in your latest installer? (beta9?) and 2. Can only the kernel update be done without reinstalling already working drivers using your installer? For example if video drivers are working, do they need to be reinstalled when updating the kernel? TIA limini Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32827-infothread-nebukadnezar-amdintel-1048-kernel/page/15/#findComment-298884 Share on other sites
voggorb
I downloaded the SF9 from the chat room, and extracted it so I got the file "mach_kernel". Double clicking this opens Terminal and gives "Bus error" report. How do I install the SF9? I am currently on the 8.8.1 Nov27 kernel... uphuck
limini yes you can, just choose what you want to install, a kernel or a driver. I'll upload it again, I added some packages including sf9 kernel installer. BuXb
Thanks a lot uphuck! I was "out of town" for quite a while - what does SF9 stand for? 9 = 8.8.1 beta 9, but SF? uphuck
semthex final 9 just a guess it's different than beta9 kernel, works with both amd and intel but only with sse3. It's said that sf9 is more stable and better with intel sse3. I'm trying it for a few days, sf9 is better than beta9 for my system. BuXb
thanks uphuck, that would make sense [OT]BTW: do you have any clue why the battery percentage is not indicated anymore with my 8.8.1 system, always showing 0%? The %age is displayed correcty in my 10.4.8 install with 8.4.1 Maxxuss kernel ..
