If you use both integrated and discrete graphics you need to put the onboard card as primary.

Otherwise OS X will only see the discrete graphics.

yeah, sorry guys.. i didn't really up that for it to be used, it was only because i mentioned it. I'm not even sure if its still working and it would be like using the very first build of fakesmc. i just didn't want it to be forgotten because if np_ didn't post this kext that day its unknown if netkas would have been able figure out the problems with fakesmc loading.

Andy I need help with a second monitor. I have the EDID for the main one you sent me still but the second is the same make and can't get the EDID for it. What info do you need and how do I add a second screen?

This tool allows you to remove code signatures from binaries.

Proof of concept:

EDIT: New version with support to remove code signing DRS (this checks frameworks and libraries signatures when set).

This "may" come in handy now

https://www.dropbox.com/s/w8uztsukldd4e3z/Apple_EFI.zip

Puts Names to those GUID's ;)

Would be nice to get updated list, using it as part of the tool, see #7

This works real well, thx.

It doesn't do every module but a lot of them... :D

You can get it from IORegistryExplorer.

Just go to the monitor and copy the data from the IODisplayEDID key in a hex editor and save it as EDID.hex

If it has no EDID, let me know the resolution of the monitor you use so I can make one for it ;)

Hi Andy

For correct brightness range we need to have a table of our panel in ApplePanelA (connected to PNLF). I made a legacy and customized some values experimentally. Don't know the right way to adjust these values.

Can you add such feature to your app?

It's impossible to add it to this app as it can't read the brightness values from the display.

It's not defined in the EDID at all, just the color profile (which gets patched).

This app can be used to replace the displayoverride though (which gets shown in the thread containing the brightness patch).

Would Apple signatures from binaries allows you to update all your software in Mavericks?

Removing code signatures has nothing to do with updates.

If it is an app you can update it if it is in your app store account.

Otherwise (system itself) you can update it anyway

Sorry for resurrecting the topic, but I've noticed this issue on both my desktop and my laptop with OS X 10.8.5. I was able to compile the source as a 64bit-only binary, using SDK 10.8, targeting OS X 10.6 and when I installed it, after the first reboot, my drive was recognized as Mat{censored}a DVD-R UJ-846 in System Information / DIsc burning, but the random spinning remains and usually it starts several minutes after my display has gone to sleep and stops, when I wake it up. Is there anything that can be done about it?

Edit 14.10.2013: It seems the 10.8.5 supplemental update solved the problem.

Thx so much for reporting back about 64bit issue, I thought it didn't work since no one confirmed...would you mind uploading your 64 kext mod please!, would it run with no problem on Mavericks, if so does it still solve the issue?

Thx

You probably won't need it, if you have installed OS X 10.8.5 with the supplemental update or later. Turning off the Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible option in the Energy Saver prefpane will be quite enough.
