UneeK
Hey there! Excelent work guys. Thanks for sharing your knowledge about this board. I've got GA-965P-DS3 rev. 3.3 Everything is working (thanks to you) except one thing. I have a strange feeling that PCI slots on this board dont work at all Here is why. Pls have in mind that I'm still biginner in this os x game. I was trying to make wireless cards work. 2 of them. Both of the cards have Atheros AR5213 chipset. I know some ppl had success with AR5212. Here is the thing. I did everything as stated in that guide http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=40317&hl=. Nothing worked for me. I do understand that maybe AR5213 is NOT supported like 5212. But here is what's bothering me. I have THE SAME VENID and PID as they do and it works. In fact I managed to get the same card they tested and still no luck(TL-WN650G but with AR5213) Should my card appear in system profiler under PCI even if it doesnt work? I know this isnt wireless forum but maybe someone has some idea for me to try. But you can answer me this : Is there someone who can confirm that PCI slots ARE working 100% on this board? someone who has Firewire card or something pluged in. Thanks for your answers and thank you again for making this board so easy to use under OS X. btw, I'm running Jas 10.4.8 + Koolkal 10.4.10 update. dmk
Is anyone successfully running a stable system (up without panics) with 4 GB of RAM on this board? I read another thread where a user identified issues when using 4 GB of RAM, and since installing OSX on my hackintosh with this board, I've been getting lots of panics as well. Cliffton Beach
Is there someone who can confirm that PCI slots ARE working 100% on this board? someone who has Firewire card or I guess I can't guarantee they are working %100, but my PCI soundcard is working fine. duklaa
I just got this board with Intel Q6600 processor. But I am a bit lost on which OS X version image I should install. Does the 10.4.9 image work directly? Or does one have to install the 10.4.8 first and then apply some patches to get it to 10.4.9? Any help is appreciated since I am a noob to this. Thanks! empire29
I have a ga-p965-ds3 rev3.3 F12 BIOS (latest to date). I have a SATA II Seagate 320GB HDD on the orange (ICH8) connectors - it has 3 primary paritions (winxp, osx, storage(fat32)) I am running JAS 10.4.8 see2/3 & ppf1/2. I have been running OSX just fine but last night i went into Disk Utility and it froze. When i rebooted the SATA AHCI detection screen loads, states it detects 2 devices and the hangs. I cant even get into my BIOS. (I think i will be able to if i detach the HDD but i havent tried anything). This happened once before during my early days of OSX86 installs and i chalked it up to me messing something up -- but im pretty sure disk utility hosed something. It was strange because i was able to keep running osx after disk utility quit. it was just when i rebooted that the bios couldnt detect my SATA drives anymore. Any thoughts? I highly recommend using the JAS 10.4.8 SSE2/SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2. Both your HDD and DVD should be plugged into the Orange Intell ICH8 SATA Controllers during install. From what I understand you cannot install to/from drives connected to the Jmicron Controller (Purple SATA/IDE).

Thanks Update -this turned out to be a problem with my DVD drive (a Lite-on 20x) -- i switched it out for a 20x Samsung and everything works fine. From what i gather some (though i dont know how to determine which) Optical drives do not work well in AHCI mode. Also - I contacted Gigabyte support and they said Optical drives and HDDs should not run on the same SATA Controller if said SATA Controller is running in AHCI mode. (ex. Your HDDs should be running in AHCI mode on one controller, and your SATA Drives running (preferrably in IDE mode) on another. Of course with OS X there is HW support issues that may not let you run your drives in this "support" (or atleast accord to Gigabyte) configuration. Uncle_Pinny
Hi there. Firstly thank you to all those who have put in hard work getting these installs to work. I've been reading for a while and have got to the point where I've bought my copy of Leopard and want to install. Luckily I stumbled upon this 965P thread.... Quick question - I've read along the threads that I'll NEED a SATA DVD drive - is this really the case? Is this because my Leopard installer DVD (which I will create using the BrazilMac patch) cannot read from my IDE DVD drive? Could someone please clarify this for me? If that's the case I'll have to find one of those adaptors or buy a new DVD drive. My idea is that I will install onto a fresh HD using my BrazilMac patched original Leopard DVD. Any advice for this? Hoping to get this done then sort the EFI but one step at a time.... Thanks in advance - sure I'll be posting here quite a bit over the next few days U.P. A.I.Ghost
jaybeatle Since i installed using an IDE DVD drive... Oh, maybe it's because you have GA-965-S3, not the GA-965-DS3? ;-) I tried many times to install from IDE-DVD, and used at least five different drives - there was no success. The only major difference between the S3 and the DS3 is that the DS3 uses solid-state capacitors. There are other minor differences, but none that are significant. Honestly, not really sure why IDE worked for me. Before I was able to get my hand's on a Leopard DVD, I tried ToH and it didn't work.
