  1. The process is pretty straightforward for anyone who has taken some time in creating proper OEM config with clover for the Mavericks. Assuming that you have your EFI partition mounted as /Volumes/EFI 0) Download the Yosemite installer via appstore 1) Download latest clover official release, in my case in the time of writing it is v2k_r2850, taken from sourceforge. 2) Download latest FakeSMC and sensor kexts, again, in my case in the time of writing it is 6.11.1328, taken from sourceforge. 3) Get the modified ALXEthernet, if you had not used it already (available in the forum downloads) 4) Place newly downloaded FakeSMC, sensors and ALXE under /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/OEM/Z77-DS3H/UEFI/kexts/10.9/ replacing already existing 5) Upgrade clover by running the downloaded package installer and before hitting the restart button, as a precaution run "sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/*" from terminal to erase all kext caches. 6) After booting back to 10.9 copy /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/OEM/Z77-DS3H/UEFI/kexts/10.9/ as /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/OEM/Z77-DS3H/UEFI/kexts/10.10/ so you will have all the settings and kexts ready for Yosemite 7) Before proceeding further make sure you have enabled clover GUI before system boot and that you have set appropriate timeout, say 5 sec or more. It is required to change the boot volume upon installing Yosemite 8) Run the Install OS X Yosemite Beta.app from the Applications folder, at the end it will ask for a restart, proceed. 9) After clover GUI is loaded, choose the Install Mac OS X partition, not the system one. It will try to boot you to the installer, and if all the kexts in OEM of EFI for 10.10 are good, the installer will boot. Installation took about 25 mins on my machine. After installation is finished, it will restart automatically. 10) At this point it should boot you to the updated 10.10 without a problem. If for some reason Network or Sound do not work, erase kext caches again as in step 5 and restart.
  2. Be prepared for the need to remove the AppleKextExcludeList.kext and probably reinstall all the kexts that will be deleted from S/L/E because of it, namely FakeSMC. I would also like to know your clover setup (in as much detail as possible if you have time), as i have been willing to try it as well.
  3. > How do I know if my mobo is Rev 1.0 or 1.1? See the link, ver. number is in the top left corner, same should be on your mobo, if not, then it is ver. 1.0. I do have 1.0 and i still have it printed. http://www.gigabyte.com/fileupload/product/2/4326/6547_big.jpg > Would there be any flags you think I might need for booting your method using my aforementioned hardware? You might need GraphicsEnabler=Yes or NVRam.dylib (installable via ChameleonWizard) or both, try searching the forums > Were you saying your onboard audio doesn't work or that it shows up but you just haven't used it? Onboard audio requires another third-party kext, but as i use m-audio fire-wire interface i did not test the kext, so technically i don't have on-board at all > I need wifi to work on this and would prefer PCI (not express) I would guess that PCI TP-Link wi-fi adapters will work, but again, i strongly suggest you use the search, this forums are full of information.
  4. Rolling on GM as of sunday. Again, latest chameleon, latest FakeSMC, ALXEthernet 1.0.2 and nothing more. Apart from no time to test drivers for on-board sound, everything works without a problem. Bash 4 compiled in 31 seconds, vim 9.4 latest in 29 seconds. Tested several steam games friends have provided access to on max details i could on 2560*1440 display. Which system to use depends on your usage profile. I would certainly recommend to go for 10.9 for correct multi-display support alone but if and when the software you use is fully supported. As for pre-created distros like "Kakewalk", sorry but no idea. I have always created installations myself with the info from this forums.
  5. I have updated to DP8 since install via App Store without a problem. Will do a test fresh install of GM this weekend. I am using the latest chameleon and the latest FakeSMC right from the devel website.

No. Website is not owned by them, but rather being given for usage for a fee continuously paid in intervals. Information posted there by others is not their, but of those who posted it. And even if you state in website rules otherwise 10 times in a row, this will not change.
Public internet domain and the easiness of doing "administrative responsibilities" made many people ignorant to the fact that they suppress the freedom of speech and often rendered them to fail to distinguish their own point of view on the subject from the actual idea behind the words written/said.
I'll use my edited post as an example. I did not call up to trash TM on that public site, but rather stated the possibility to leave reviews and that TM would not probably be able just erase those as easily, as they do on "their site".
Additionally, there is no harassment (referring to your previous post addressed to me), in calling up liar and thieve for what it is, especially when there is a ton of evidence at arm's length (so to speak). Calling it [enter profanity word of your choice] would be. To understand the sadness for editorial of the post one might first try to realise how long have i actually been around here, actively posting or not. And what have i witnessed in person, whilst others debate about it judging only by the impressions of others and by current state of affairs. I myself have been banned many times on TM web under different accounts, i just don't care as long as information reaches intended recipient. I stand by my words. Editing posts, leaving no traces of edited information, especially in topic that condemns such actions on some place else is ironic. I, irrevocably and unconditionally, from this moment onward, grant you, and you only, my personal, non-transferable and of unlimited time duration permission to use privileges given to you by the status of section moderator, to "ban" me from this forum, at any moment at your discretion.

    1. Having forum thread about how uncivilised and ruthless is the bannhammer system on TM site, and how this is the eden garden of freedom, AND fixing / removing posts from this particular thread without leaving even the "edit" note is the grand-mastery of irony. To say the least. 2. The data published on the referred site is freely accessible, therefore removing it from here is... Read part 1. Shame. I'm deeply saddened.

    Question for Russian speakers

To show how russian works, i'll use well known russian joke (with all grammar and constructs being true). Don't try to read the russian words, they sound differently from what they are typed in latin. Try to explain english-man why does glass (for water) [stakan, m] stands on the table and fork [vilka, f] lies on the table. If we take the fork and stuck it into the table it will stand. One might think that this is because glass is more vertical, and therefore stands, and fork is more like horizontal, and therefore lies, and stuck fork is more vertical so it stands, eh?. This theory breaks right away with plate (for food) [tarelka, f], it is undoubtedly more horizontal, however stands on the table. And if you turn the plate upside-down, it will lie on the table. One might deduce that this is because of construction, both glass and plate have a foundation on which they stand, but then what about fork? Does the table makes the foundation for struck fork? This theory proves to be incorrect as well in sight of pan [skovoroda, f]. It has no foundation, but is also stands on the table. And if you put the pan into the dishwasher, it will lie there, being in more vertical position, than on the table. Magic... Therefore one can deduce that anything that is ready to be used - stands. But fork was ready and it lied on the table! And when it was struck and not ready it was standing! Now, imagine cat [koshka, f / kot, m] jumping on the table. Cat can sit, stand a lie. Whilst standing and lying is somewhat logical in the matters of vertical/horizontal (hello fork...), sitting is a new property. Cat sits on her butt. Now, imagine bird [prica, f] land on the table. Bird also sits on the table, but not on the butt. Bird sits on it's legs! Should not it be standing? If you kill the poor bird, it will lie on the table. You know, birds can't stand in russian at all... Now take the body of the poor birdie and make a dummy of it. The dummy of a bird will stand on the table, in any position... One might think that that sitting is a property of living thing. Take the boot [sapog, m / botinok, m]. It is not alive, nor does it have a butt, but it sits, ON your leg. Are you still with me?

    Question for Russian speakers

Spoken Russian is the eldest of all modern western civilisations languages (which is not known by 99% russians themselves, much less likely by others). Its verbal form is dated back to the beginnings of Indo-European family. Vedas of ancient India, when red and spoken, resemble (vocally) even current modern russian so much, that any russian-speaking human can understand most of them with little bit of training. Cute, huh? Writing and Cyrillic alphabet is another story though. It's quite young compared to spoken language. Russian grammar is like edge firewall on IPS core. Myriads of rules with even more exceptions from them, with added bonus of differing pronunciation. And if you try to learn just the spoken one, you'll get too many nonexistent, double-meaning, paraphrased words you cant understand the right way only from context of the dialogue. Add to the mix the "third russian", very big vocabulary of profanity words for any situation. I can tell you to "frack off" at least 10 times using different profanity words. So trying to learn Russian will lead to frustration, that i can guarantee. But if you do it, gate to all other slavic languages will be wide open.

I have chosen those examples specifically, because nor network restart, neither even system restart will help. Settings are persistent for their respective TTL. And it works like this by design, not because it is faulty implementation. If it is 10 minutes, you probably can live with it, if it is one hour or longer however (dhcp leases can be up to days long)... From network diagnostics tool point of view there will not be any problem, as it has no way to know, that you wish to drop properly (from network standpoint) working connection and re-request new data. So, do those things via GUI wizard as you have said it is all possible and easy for newbie. My point whole time: Educate your self on all three systems first to the same level, and only then compare what is to be compared. Most people only use computer with windows, because they are given one, not because they choose to. If you choose it because you do not wish to learn about alternatives, it is your decision and no one is trying to persuade you otherwise. But, don't tell others that something is "bad" or "worse" then. Even i do not use all the features OS provides me with (whichever it may be), but in the eyes or simple desktop user, i am a computer freak As i have stated in my first post, i choose OSX, not linux, despite giving it preference and also explained why.

    MacOS X vs Linux

Oh, i agree not to spark flamewar here. It just pains me to see someone trashing linux (any other OS, actually), without acquiring at least same level of competence with it, as with their primary. And using ripped from context examples to support their point. This forum is for people to acquire knowledge, not opinions. For the topic. I have not said that LO/OOO is better than MSO. Topicstarter was talking about the looks, design and requirement to retrain. LO/OOO is not something entirely different, and I have added, that MSO on a Mac is far from being "classic windows MSO". As for market share, links you provided deal with revenue from server share, and enterprise penetration. Moreover, it is logical, that windows with less servers installed will be comparable in "total money in ecosystem", as MS charges for the OS license, device and user access licenses and support, whilst even enterprise oriented distros like RHEL and SLES only charge support. Such review will not cover servers running sites like InsanelyMac for example, nor will they cover expenses required to train proper professional (calculate how much "Windows Enterprise Admin" total cost of mere certification costs). I was talking sheer numbers of installed and used in production servers. There two are quite different numbers. Additionally the zdnet-one supports my words as to the choice for stability in mission critical workloads. Yet then again, those are just words of someone else Here is information about top500 supercomputers and systems they are running, with development over time. Choose operating system in the drop down. And here is somewhat unbiassed desktop statistics taken from browser useragent and other data, from visitors to many popular sites. There you will find some interesting data, such as: 37% of people are still using windows XP windows 8 has less users, than total OSX, despite being "all about gui", which means that OSX adoption rate went exponential over last few years. Do in windows gui with wizard: flush dns cache (very often problem on notebooks moving from one internal corporate/school network to other school/corporate network, or to outside network) renew dhcp lease (same example as above, additional example: you come to school/office, you connect to network, you receive dhcp from pool for guests. Admin creates you an account and adds your mac address to the list, now you have to get new address from pool for allowed computers)

LibreOffice / OpenOffice look and fell just like MSOffice 2003, you will be surprised how many people use those to date. MSOffice for Mac is more different from MSOffice for windows, than libreoffice. It does not support macro's very good, nor does support all fonts from windows and i have had more problems opening .doc/xls documents in MSOffice for Mac than in LO/OOO. Have you even tried it on something more complex than simple text document before actually writing the post? Again, windows 8 is different from Windows XP even more, than standard OSX or Gnome desktop. And you had to google, or even better, install additional software to get the start button back (oh and i'm not talking about dozen other things that were gone or modified), so please, don't write about "windows logic". Haven't i wrote that there is a GUI option to install software and that i showed terminal examples only because __I__ preferred it? Or shall i post screenshots. I could have wrote how many people do i or did i work with as support, who used linux as their primary OS, being average JOE user, but it is pointless. Bill Gates is a great person and innovator in his time, but he does not run the company anymore for many years already. So he really has nothing to worry about anyway. On the other hand, i asked you to do two simple things and to write examples. You did not provide any specific. Why? Every non-blind developer will tell you this is not true. OSX has it's stability issues and bugs, and their drivers are quite far from being extremely reliable. I managed to KP my every apple mac not doing anything out of ordinary. As i have wrote in my previous post, linux has much bigger penetration in server and other segments, therefore systems running it in quantities are comparable if not higher, than those with windows in total, if you count android smartphones, this is 100% guaranteed. So "uncommon / mystical" is very unlucky choice of words for linux as operating system. Additionally, again as i have wrote in my previous post, those systems, that are by design extremely reliable run linux / modern unix OS, not OSX or Windows
