Happy new year all,

Just updated Acer 5920 (T7300) from 10.6.5 --> 10.6.6.

Rebooted OK - (Don't use Sleepenabler) but Vanilla Kernel.

Apart from the System Kexts, the only one that has been updated is the infamous:

AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.Kext (1.6.24 to version 1.6.26) - This is relevent to the 5920.

The bummer is that it is still 32 bit. :)

But Ok with QE/CI.

Regards :)

don't hate the newbie question, but i recently built the lifehacker hackintosh build (asus P7P55 board, i5 chip) to 10.6.4 and its been working great... should i disable the sleepenabler before attempting to upgrade? and if so, how do i do this?

always remove your sleepenabler before updating, trash the file SleepEnabler.kext in /System/Library/Extension or in your Extra folder if you are using Chameleon.

EDiT : btw which tutorial did you follow on lifehacker ? I can't find it and I'm interessed in updating my 3 years old hackintosh :)

Happy New Year to all here :)

I wonder what's up with the AppleHDA.kext?

Do we need to patch it for a particular audio device (e.g. ALC 888, ALC 889, etc.)?

thanks! i used ##### on my install, then put the rest into the E/E folder... i'll trash the sleepenabler and give it a shot tonight.

anyone know if there is a sleepenabler that works with 10.6.6 yet? (i know, it's only a few hours old, he he)

I followed this one:

I made a few tweaks to the system, I got a different (cheaper) mobo, but still based on the same Chipset... and I got an i5 instead of an i7 (again for cost). I also did NOT go for an SSD drive (cost). The only stipulation I found is that your boot drive can't be larger than 1TB... to i partitioned my 2TB drive into 500/1.5, and it worked fine.

Okay thank you, apparently ##### is just a bootloader like Chaemeleon, and ##### is the new "trendy pimped iso Linux" used to boot on the SL DVD :P
