    Clover SVG Theme Builder

Vector themes for Clover are new and currently still under development. Setting out to re-create my BGM theme to vector I realised there was some learning needed in order to create a theme.svg file for Clover to use. As SVG files are text based, I quickly realised that they could be manipulated from the command line and looking at the Clovy theme I decided to break it down in to parts for creating other themes. As a result, I've been working on Clover SVG Theme Builder https://bitbucket.org/blackosx/cloversvgthemebuilder Current Version: 0.3.2 Latest Updates: - Allow just two checkboxes, instead of expecting night icons also. - Include Selection Indicator. - Can now process multiple themes from Themes directory. - Improved logging. Overview The idea is to allow a theme designer to work on individual images and not worry about the required overall file structure which Clover expects. The designer can populate a Theme directory with a settings file and individual .svg files and let the script generate a final theme.svg file for using with Clover. I've created a basic sample theme to help demonstrate the script. https://bitbucket.org/blackosx/cloversvgthemebuilder/downloads/Theme.zip The Theme directory contains Adobe Illustrator and SVG files for each image in the required folder structure for the script. Using this sample theme, the script will generate this theme from the files. The idea is these can be used to build new themes and I'm currently using it to build my BGM_SVG theme. I can imagine far more complicated themes will be generated in the future, but for now I hope this may serve to help kickstart basic vector theme development. Notes: • Clover's SVG theme development is still underway and things are likely to change so this script and it's supporting template file will need to change with Clover. • I've only tested this using SVG files saved from Adobe Illustrator using the following settings, for files from other apps may need added support. • For the script to correctly inject SVG code in to the template, each SVG image must contain a group of elements. • Font files are currently not included in the final theme file but this can be an option. • In time, maybe other templates can be added which have different layouts?? These are early days, so I'll update this post when necessary.

I'm not sure exactly what drivers I have in my Clover sub directory. I can check when I get home tonight. However, that protocol comes from boot.efi $ strings /System/Library/CoreServices/boot.efi | grep RestartData RegisterRestartDataProtocol Failed to install the RestartData protocol. RestartData protocol installed successfully. I guess this triggers the reboot after presenting the screen messages in the photo. Would trying to identify what makes boot.efi load that protocol help narrow down the issue, though maybe boot.efi just loads that if 'anything' is wrong so it probably won't help.

Here, Clover will successfully load and draw both Clovy and BGM_SVG themes and present a working UI. Testing with Clover r4871. 1 - If Theme entry in config.plist is BGM_SVG then on choosing to boot selected device, the GUI locks up. 2 - If Theme entry in config.plist is Clovy then on choosing to boot selected device, all is good and Mac OS boots. 3 - If Theme entry in config.plist is Clovy then I switch to BGM_SVG in Clover GUI, then on choosing to boot selected device, I sometimes get the GUI freeze, or I have sometimes see Clover successfully close and pass on to the next phase. But I get a reboot after that. Checking debug log, the last line is: 33:973 0:092 Finally: ExternalClock=26MHz BusSpeed=100001kHz CPUFreq=3400MHz PIS: hw.busfrequency=104000000Hz Is this behaviour memory related? Could there be something in BGM_SVG, which is not in Clovy, which uses a different drawing routine which is causing the issue? I may try to remove items from BGM_SVG, one by one, and see if it makes a difference.

    DarwinDumper

Do you want to quickly find your boot log, or ever wanted to know which version of bootloader is installed on your disk(s), had the need to dump your BIOS from OS X, just curious about your own system setup or been asked to provide your setup information to others when asking for assistance? DarwinDumper is a useful collection of readily available tools, and scripts wrapped in an application framework giving you a convenient method to quickly gather a system overview of your hack or Mac. And rest assured that enabling the privacy option will mask sensitive data like the IOPlatformSerialNumber, IOPlatformUUID, IOMACAddress(s), USB Serial Number(s), SystemSerialNumber, serial-number, fmm-mobileme-token-FMM, MLB and ROM efi vars and CustomUUID in the dumped files and report. Current Version: 3.0.4 The system dumps are saved to a folder or your choice, but defaulting to the same directory as the main application. You can choose to setup a symlink to make it simple to run DarwinDumper from the Terminal. There is an option to create an html report showing a complete overview of the dumps. This report will mostly just contain the text dumps as you'll find in the main dump directory, but for some dumps there is extra processing to try to present the information in a better way. For example, the Disk Partitions and Unique ID's dump will show a visual map of the disk layout, and the DMI Tables (SMBIOS) dump will show the data split by table type. Note: The html report does not contain all files from a complete dump so if seeking assistance for a problem and you wish to send someone a DarwinDump then you will want to send the complete dump directory and not just the .html report file. The following can be read and dumped by DarwinDumper: - ACPI tables. - Audio codec and further info. - Boot loaders and configuration files. - CPU info. - Device-properties. - Disk partition structure / info. - Disk sectors (hex). - DMI (SMBIOS). - EDID. - I/O Kit Registry. - EFI Memory Map. - EFI vars (some). - Kernel information - Kexts - (list of currently loaded kexts). - Memory. - NVRAM (both Apple specific and UEFI firmware variables). - SMC Keys. - LSPCI (PCI vendor & device codes) dumps. - Power (Sleep/Hibernate) settings. - RTC. - System Profiler. - System BIOS. - System Log(s). - Video BIOS. Yeah. I also experience a freeze with GUI using vector themes @SavageAUS. I've been pretty busy recently so haven't run proper tests but using BGM_SVG I see freeze when: - leaving timeout to countdown to zero. - pressing return to boot selected boot device. - pressing space and choosing to boot selected boot device from the menu. I'll try to look in to it soon.

    Clover SVG Theme Adjuster

I've created a new tool to help with Clover vector themes. It's a perl script that will search and globally replace RGB hex colours in the format #000000 and replace them with new calculated RGB hex colours using the adjustments you ask for. https://bitbucket.org/blackosx/cloversvgthemeadjuster You can download it using: git clone https://bitbucket.org/blackosx/cloversvgthemeadjuster.git See the usage instructions on the README. Current Version 0.0.5 (changelog) Overview The script identifies all colours in the theme file and applies adjustments to the hue, saturation and lightness before saving a new file. The adjustments can be progressively increased in a loop to generate multiple files. Example: Using the following commands to adjust the hue: perl AdjustThemeColour.pl -20 0 0 10 perl AdjustThemeColour.pl +20 0 0 10 Against my original Silver theme Can generate multiple variations and choose one I like Say, this one... ** Of course, this type of adjustment will not work on all themes. It all depends on what colours have been used in the design. Or how about a de-saturated BGM_SVG? Known Issues - There's always a possibility that a newly replaced hex value may match an already existing hex value which is due to be changed afterwards. This would mean that the newly replaced colours will then be replaced incorrectly. The likely hood of this happening increases with the more colours used in the theme.

    Clover SVG Theme Adjuster

Hi Slice The script, for now, is just a generic colour changer which could work on any file containing hex values in the format of #000000. The script doesn't have any understanding of a Clover theme, a Clover theme structure or day/night concepts. All it currently does is globally search original colours and replace with adjusted colours. The only thing that currently determines what the script looks for is the filename; theme.svg. I created it because of the way I make Clover SVG themes where I create individual .ai/.svg images files, some with symbols, some without, and combine them all together using my Clover SVG Theme Builder. I found I wanted to change a theme to a different colour but thought it unnecessary to go back and edit my source theme files and re-build it when nothing but the colour was changing. As it did what I wanted I thought I'd share it as it could be useful for anyone else who wants to tinker with SVG themes. For now, any day/night values set in a theme will all be changed using the same adjustments. I may well look at developing the script further to have more awareness of Clover's theme concepts such as day/night but it may prove difficult to target such elements especially when symbols are used, as with BGM_SVG for example, I used the same symbols for both day and night and just included a 'night' overlay symbol on top. I'm open to ideas..

    Vector Themes

Here's a revised version of the silver theme I posted the other day but this time is uses simple flat coloured icons on a flat coloured background. Its pink for now, but the user can easily set it to whatever colour they wish. The idea here is the theme colours can be easily changed by the user by editing only the following values near the top of the theme.svg file. Far easier than searching and replacing different elements through the whole file for different settings. This setting will change the colour of the menu selector. <clover:theme SelectionColor="0xb20068FF" /> And these settings css classes can be used to change the other colours. <style type="text/css"> <!-- Change overall theme colours with these classes --> .FillColourContent{fill:#b20068;} .StrokeColourContent{fill:#b20068;} .FillColourBackground{fill:#380021;} .FontColour{fill:#f7a4d4;} .FontColourNight{fill:#f7a4d4;} <!-- --> </style> - FillColourContent will change colours of banner, badges, menu items and selectors. - StrokeColourContent is just for Knoppix badge (for now - may need a re-work of this logo). - FillColourBackground will change the background colour - FontColour and FontColourNight as self explanatory. EDIT: The scroll bar, for now, takes it's colours from the FillColourContent and FontColour classes. FlatCustom.zip * This is still a work in progress but its completely useable as it is.

    DarwinDumper

hmmm.. thanks for the note. I know AppleIntelInfo used to 'sometimes' cause a system freeze, especially on older Sandy Bridge CPU's but Pike's last update(s) fixed that. But as we know Pike's gone and no longer working on it so it's good to know that headkaze has picked it up. I wonder if the crashes are specific to 10.14 or just with specific CPUs? I could change DarwinDumper to NOT run AppleIntelInfo when selecting the CPU dump?

Lol. That’s my carefully crafted icon design so they’re supposed to be like that. [emoji3] I like my MacOS icons to be distinguishable from each other and not all the same. If you would prefer a simple Apple logo then you can edit the file and change each mac icon (os_moja, os_HighSierra, os_Sierra etc.) to use the default ImageMacOS (I think as I’m not at my computer) image.

Ah... Edit the theme.svg file in a text editor and look for a line near the top of the file that defines the background scaling. BackgroundScale="scale" If it’s set to scale then change it to crop, or vice versa.
  17. blackosx

    Vector Themes

    What I like about these themes is it's very easy to change the colours of the whole theme by some simple search and replace in a text editor. For example, to change the background of this theme to a dark grey: Search 1: <stop offset="0" style="stop-color:#386AFF"/> <stop offset="0.03" style="stop-color:#204DED"/> <stop offset="0.06" style="stop-color:#133CCD"/> <stop offset="0.14" style="stop-color:#0B2571"/> <stop offset="0.22" style="stop-color:#081A4E"/> <stop offset="0.8" style="stop-color:#00081D"/> <stop offset="1" style="stop-color:#00081D"/> Replace 1: <stop offset="0" style="stop-color:#5c5c5c"/> <stop offset="0.03" style="stop-color:#5d5d5d"/> <stop offset="0.06" style="stop-color:#474747"/> <stop offset="0.14" style="stop-color:#1e1e1e"/> <stop offset="0.22" style="stop-color:#131313"/> <stop offset="0.8" style="stop-color:#0e0e0e"/> <stop offset="1" style="stop-color:#0e0e0e"/> Search 2: <stop offset="0" style="stop-color:#162E74"/> <stop offset="1" style="stop-color:#041237;stop-opacity:0"/> Replace 2: <stop offset="0" style="stop-color:#1e1e1e"/> <stop offset="1" style="stop-color:#131313;stop-opacity:0"/> And maybe to change all icons to a gold colour, perform the following three search and replacements: Search: style="stop-color:#939393"/> Replace: style="stop-color:#aa9b27"/> Search: style="stop-color:#FFFFFF"/> Replace: style="stop-color:#fae23e"/> Search: style="stop-color:#D6D6D6"/> Replace: style="stop-color:#e8d029"/> EDIT: Excuse the dodgy JPEG's but these at least give a visual. EDIT2: Just spotted the Manjaro icon does not contain a gradient.

    Clover SVG Theme Builder

I've been updating and improving CloverSvgThemeBuilder to now include some support for using symbols and to also better handle generating either a day or night preview. I've also updated the sample theme which the script downloads. The script is now at version 0.2.7 and can be found at https://bitbucket.org/blackosx/cloversvgthemebuilder/src/master/ I'm aware the script is not perfect (yet), has bugs and doesn't do much error checking either but all can be improved in time. To also help others with vector themes, I've uploaded the Adobe Illustrator and resulting SVG files for BGM_SVG. There are two versions, one which uses individual images and a second which uses symbols for Functions, OSBadges, Volumes, Checkbox and RadioButtons. Both versions of the theme can be built with CloverSvgThemeBuilder. https://bitbucket.org/blackosx/cloversvgthemebuilder/downloads/ I totally missed this post! Yeah OT, but thanks for all the info. Clover V3 sounds like it could/would be amazing but I understand the amount of work involved especially when you're working alone. Spare time is hard to find these days and to dedicate to such a large project is a massive undertaking. Add your health issues on top and no wonder you're exhausted. All we can do is what we can, and when we can. Regards
