i have mae the modifications on atiradeonx1000GA.plugin and everything is working perfectly, including the spin :construction:; the spin effect under dashboad is other problem, its teh IOPCIFAMILY.kext u should use the one from 10.4.4

 

MArcus Aurelius do you got two monitor support?

Ok, i have news, sorry for the double posting but here we gt some news maybe it could clarify the double monitor and the DVI difference of activity some are having

 

 

 

This are the differences in the ATIRADEONX000.KEXT between Erikk (myzar 10.4.5) and me JAS (10.4.6) both using Boris Hack:

No dual monior support, I'm afraid. I'm using VGA and DVI to VGA. The picture is cloned. but it only detects the monitor plugged in to the VGA port.

 

 

Hi all,

 

I dont have a DVI Monitor, im waiting for a Dell 2005FPW to arrive, hope tomorrow.

 

I have a GeCube X1600Pro that only has DVI connectors so I could only try with DVI to VGA adapters.

 

Yesterday I managed to try a 2nd Display and had the same results as MarcusAurelius: the same image in both Displays, and I can change the resolution, refresh rate, etc...

 

If I only boot with one Display in the OS I have options for "Display" and "VGA Display", if instead I boot with 2 Displays I only have option for "Display" wich I think its odd...

 

Im using Myzar's 10.4.5 with Boris "solution", and I hope to put my hands on a true DVI Display and test to see if the results are diferent.

 

Ill post in here when it arrives.

Just for the record, I reinstalled and downgraded to myzar 10.4.5 and I'm still getting the same effect with this hack:

 

when booting with "-v" I get to the point where it says that its starting the "loginwindowapp" but it never flicks over to the GUI--I can hear it finishing booting up. Its almost like when you swicth to other consoles when running linux--it looks like there is a GUI running, just not on my monitor.

 

 

Also, I tried MarcusAurelius's version with no effect--that is, I didn't get the odd login problem, but I also didn't get res switching etc. When I went back and changed the ATINDRV.kext to match the Boris method, though, I got the hang again--so the problem for me is local to ATINDRV.kext, not the changes to the other two kexts.

 

I'm using a Sapphire x1600xt with a vga lcd panel BTW...I never tried checking if there was a signal on the dvi output....

 

Any suggestions would be welcome.

There is a work-around. In /System/Library/Extensions, look for and delete (or move and back-up, just in case) AppleHWSensor.kext This will make your booting much faster.

Mine is pure DVI without adapter,

 

btw yesterday it recognized my sony lcd screen but not anymoe.

anyway its 100% LCD DVI digital

 

 

I've found your ATIX1000.kext in a folder named "10.4.6 extensions disabled". Replaced it with my old kext file results in graphical errors. Maybe you can upload your ATI relevant kextfiles ? I'd like to get dvi support as well. Thanks & rgds., Wig

hmmm installed 10.4.6 JAS dvd on a second partition and did all changes but still only vga working no DVI ;)

by the way: so 10.4.6 is working fine with the boris hack

install method: only 10.4.6 update +semz.patch

no intel, AMD,wireles or so hacks...

 

@aberracus: did you change anything else?

I'm at work and can't test this but:

 

Just so I'm clear, I never end up getting a desktop--it just sits there after saying its launching the loginwindow.

 

I've left it for 5 minutes or so with no change.

 

Do you think that removing that kext will help? I haven't seen ANYONE have problems with a sapphire x1600xt so I'm really in the dark.

I'm not a X1000 owner but I just found something weird regarding device matching. Instead of putting my card DEV ID + VEND ID, (mine 0x4b4b1002), I have set the SUBVEND ID + the VEND ID (becomes 0x03121002). That ATIRadeon kext loads just as before. I got this information by looking at what VGAG in 'ioreg -l' has matched, and I saw this string pci312,1002.

 

Can someone else try this, am I just lucky or ...

I upgraded to 10.4.6 with the V3 patch from TPB. At first I got display corruption(it tries to output 2 screens to one monitor). I then copied all the ati kexts from exensions_disabled 10.4.6 into Extensions and edited the plists as instructed by bosrisbadenov (except for ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin). Everything worked from 10.4.6 except for the GLDriver plugin (I'd get a mostly black screen unless I used the GLDriver from 10.4.4). Then I copied the OpenGL framework from Frameworks_Disabled (I assume those are from 10.4.6) and the 10.4.6 GLDriver worked. The only thing that doesn't work now is dual monitor support (which never worked, but I don't need it.)

This is a new OS X installation. The only game I have is Doom 3, but it works fine, no artifacts (it seems the famerate is better in OS X than in linux!).

 

BTW I removed AppleHWSensor.kext and OS X boots much faster now. What does that kext do? Was it safe to remove it?

hum interesting thing MarcusAurelius...so u r using 10.4.6 versions of X1000.kext X1000GA.plugin and X1000VADriver.plugin + the OPENGL FK and X1000GLDRIVER.plugin, right?

what about the ATINDRV version and IONDRVSupport?

yes...but the point is ive just tested to copy all those files and running WoW gives me tons of artefacts in 10 sec!!! lol really u should try... im gonna try only switching back the OPENGL DRiver + FK

 

EDITED: ok ive been testing it does the same bug, even with all 10.4.5 kext + fk except ATINDRV from 10.4.6

This ATINDRV file interacts with sthg else...im sure this bug is related to the10.4.6 kernel that we dont have, maybe in MYZAR V3 u have some 10.4.4 files that avoid this artifact bug that's good to know.

hum i didnt test DOOM3, i use ATINDRV 10.4.5 and ATIRADEONX100*.* + OPENGL.FK from 10.4.6 and it works great :happymac:

i guess....ATINDRV seek for some IO*.* kext of the 10.4.6 i dont have and that some of this files needs to be from 10.4.4 to work with the 10.4.4 kernel we run such as IOCPIFamily (else u have the autologin bug)

HAVING 10.4.6 kernel hacked as i said would make this bug disapear im pretty sure...

 

SUM UP: USERS OF MYZAR 10.4.5 can use 10.4.6 KEXTS + OPENGL.FK but DO NOT copy ATINDRV from 10.4.6!!!!

 

SSE3 emulation has nothing to do with that...
