dponmac
anyone else use this wonderful program from our friends at Microsoft?? The definistions never update. My Definitions are 21 weeks old. maybe its because im using vista?? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16238-windows-defender/ Share on other sites
Colonel
I use it with Vista. The updates work fine for me. You just have to let it sit there for like 5 minutes and it will tell you that it updated. It shows no sign that it is updating when it is. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16238-windows-defender/#findComment-104496 Share on other sites

MowgliBook
Most of the time the problems comes from WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) even if your windows is. I have no solution. On my MBP Defender instaled the updates once, then failed. track09
But, don't count to much on it. http://www.computerworld.com/action/articl...rticle_more_bot I have had no problems whatsoever, Windows Defender does the job. Like hell I'm gonna listen to PCTools, SpywareDoctor is the biggest resource hog on the planet. Hell Norton Internet Security is less intense. rollcage
Every body can choose how to die, its limitations where even recognized by Microsoft. Same with OneCare, apparently it's missing major parts of the scanning engine. Makes me feel comfortable since I've been using it since the earliest betas. Hopefully version 2.0 will at least be a whole product. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16238-windows-defender/#findComment-337425 Share on other sites
erbic
On the Vista side of my Macbook Pro, Defender updates ALWAYS fail. Always. It displays an error number, and there is no record of this error ANYWHERE on the internet, and Microsoft's service reps don't have a clue what it means. I tried to install OneCare, and it failed... again, with some unknown error. I'm going to wipe my Vista install and do everything again, but I'm of the opinion that M$ makes shoddy security software.
