Yeah guess I'm just out of luck with the 9800GX2 on the first slot. My EFI strings work properly, but I still can't install the Nvidia 9series v2 drivers or else I get the hang at black screen (cursor shows, then freezes...)

I assume you need to read how to set your EFi strings, have you been through this step?

Read throughout this page and you will find the answer.

hello

just to thanx a lot aquamac and xdarwin

i just bought an acer aspire 8930G with a geforce 9700M (064A10de) and it works with qe/ci using aquamac geforce 9000 installer and nvdarwin 1.2.4 kext

no need to use efi strings or info.plist editing

i started with a idebian 10.5.5 install

need to find solution for sound and eventually network (but i doubt)

cheers

Hm looks interesting. As long as it is G92 based you should be OK. It only has one 12v power input, not sure what that says about real power, but on the face of it, looks like a nice card. The 1 gig of ram is no problem on 9800 GTX/GTX+.

Hola,

Any idea on how to fix this?

Thanks

Hola,

First of all thanks everybody and specially acqua for all the info and support.

I installed a MSI NV 9400 GT and is working well, just have some weird behavior like that:

When I'm restarting or starting my PC, it start to turn off the monitor a couple of times, then turn on again and works ok

There is one application at least, didn't test all yet, DVD Player which gives me error 70012 all the time.

I installed iAtkos 4i and then all the upgrades to 10.5.5

Then, install the Nvidia 9000 Series Driver 2

and then NVDarwin 1.2.3

this is my system profile

Aren't all 9800 GTX / GTX+ cards using G92?

I have been attempting to get my notebook correctly working with the internal card (nvidia 9600M GS [256MB]) and have spent the past few days going through pretty much every bit of information I can muster;

Device ID: 0648-10de (G96M)

I am getting a resolution of only 1024x768 and I believe my card is seen as only having 32MB of VRAM total going by the stats listed within the "More Info.." of the About window listing. My default monitor display in normal Vista use is 1366x768.

Installation of OS X 5.5 used iDeneb - but could originally only get to use the actual OSX by using "-x" (safemode) ..

Installed aqua-mac's "Version 2 - NVIdIA 9 Series Drivers"

Reboot - now no longer require to use "safe-mode" any more BUT still same resolution forced of 1024x768 but now with the strange glitch that dragging a window screws the contents up (scrolling is almost impossible as refreshing in-window is not working) ..

Editing "/System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV50Hal.Kext (info.plist)"

Making sure that the 0x0640 (nearest to my card) is updated to read 0x0648

Repair Permissions .. reboot.. same.

Then tried OSX86Tools to create EFI string.

1) CLICK: Add EFI Strings/Boot Flag

2) CLICK: GFX Strings

3) CLICK: Custom GeForce

4) Enter: "nVidia GeForce 9600M GS"

5) SELECT: 256MB" VRAM

6) NVCAP: "04010101 0e000100 0e000000 0000010b 00000000" (first try)

6b)NVCAP: "04000000 00000100 0e000000 00000007 00000000" (alternative)

6c)NVCAP: "04000000 00000100 06000000 00000000 00000000" (alternative 3)

^^ LCD Notebook + VGA + HDMI connectors on notebook (above right?)

7) CLICK: Import String To Boot Editor

8) CLICK: Apply Changes to com.apple.Boot.plist

9) Repair Permissions

10) Reboot

This time I get a blank screen and have to foce-shutdown the OS and manually enter shell on reboot and resolve com.apple.boot.plist so I can get back in.

I am not too sure what else I can do .. and maybe am missing something glaringly obvious, so any help would be really appreciated. It's almost become an obession believing there is a way of getting it to work properly.

This will also work for any Graphics card, you need to select a download with the same amount of memory then change the part where the name of the card is. Follow the instructions and make the string. You do not set a refresh rate. Once everything is working correctly, that can be selected from displays in System preferences. Here I modded the plist for you, download it and follow the instructions at my website.
