Honestly guys, has anyone other than OEM independently produced a complete display driver kext (edited) that worked? This is a EOL (end of life) chipset from Intel. You are better off saving your money towards a Core Duo GMA950 laptop/PC.

I think the whole thread is about 10.4.1 kext or a new kext running on 10.4.4/5 that will support QE & CI.

Yes. But the 8xx GPUs don't support Core Image. But still, an 8xx driver would allow me to actually use something above 10.4.1 on my Dimension 2400. :graduated:

$232 (more coming) for Intel 8x5 Graphics 10.4.5 working kext.

Yes, these PC are end of life and thats what all the hardware manufacturers want. Short life cycle. Great for sales.

However, the truth is that these suckers can still have a few more years service and thats great for us, not the manufacturers.

Keep the pledges coming.....

Now, who can Xcode kexts and has some reversing experience ?

or

Access to Darwin kext (10.4.1) sources for importing into Xcode 10.4.5 ?

any takers in the coding community here up for it ?

:D

Thats all very nice but given that my laptop does EVERYTHING I want and is plenty fast enough (for me). The only thing it cant do (that I can do in windows OR Linux) is DVD playback, thanks to the slow video (CE). So for a small sum maybe the video can be sorted and I'll be happy. Cheaper than a new PC.

If someone has the skill and is willing to do it, why not?, might fund them some nice upgrade for their PC (from the donations) and also helps others at the same time, its win-win IMHO.

Guys, if you want to sum up the money, please make it explicit.

Something like:

================================

CURRENT TOTAL SUM: $XXX

================================

Just not to confuse with (possibly) big pledges.

And please don't start discussions here.

I would keep the topic title updated with $ amount myself, but I can't change topic title.

Judging on the search results, there are at least 30 people more with 845/855/865 who posted at least once. They just don't visit this forum very often (or at all?).
