    Altivec Power Fractal

  3. - Current ATi 9500-9800 & X300-X850 framebuffer with all features that nVidia and X1000 cards get is compiled only for PPC (/System/Library/Extensions/AppleNDRV/ATiRuntimeDriver.kext and ATiDriver.kext) - If a proper framebuffer with no tearing has to be built, it has to implement a hardware cursor. Existing framebuffers like Callisto and XRadeonFB don't have this, but have a software drawn cursor that creates tearing when used in conjunction with QE/CI. - Need to have a working knowledge of C/C++ and IOKit to be able to build a good OS X driver.     10.4.8 game speed increase

    Yeah, definitely... Altivec Fractal Carbon used to get 7,900 Megaflops in 10.4.7... now it gets about 9,200 Megaflops in 10.4.8. And Marble Blast Gold and Halo Demo (PPC games) seem both to launch faster in 10.4.8.
  8. Got my Core 2 Duo iMac yesterday, and it's an awesome machine, runs any of my games on max settings, and runs all PowerPC apps fast under rosetta, WAY faster than my previous iHack's Pentium 4 3GHz. Specs are in my sig.
