MeMe Cub!
Hello everone. I`ve downloaded three different versions of Mac OSX. The first one is Mac OSX 10.4.6 (2.63GB). The other one is Mac OSx86 (6.00GB) and the last one it wasn`t a Mac DVD it was porn I`m stuck now and I don`t know what to do. I tried to use them with VMware Workstation v5.5.1 but it didn`t work. I setup my VM and I used DAEMON Tools and Alcohol 120% to load the DVD but when it boots it tell me that this DVD is not bootable. And when I try to open the CD it says "Windows connot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows" I`m downlading Mac OS X 10.4.6 x86 Install DVD(JaS) (4.37GB) ISO but I`m afraid it`s not gonna work too. I have Hardwares: Intel P4 3.2GHz 32bit 2 DDR RAMs each one is 512MB = 1GB Gigabyte MotherBoard Model No. 8IPE1000-G it`supports Intel 865PE Chipset 2 HD both are IDE and NTFS one is 80GB the other is 160GB 2 DVD drives one is DVD-Writer the other one is a DVD-ROM XFX nVIDIA 6600 256MB DDR Mouse and keyboard are USB Realtek Audio AC'97 on boad sound card I have Softwares: Windows XP PRO SP2 Installed Acronis Disk Director Suite v10.0 (Build 2089) Partition Magic v8.02 DAEMON Tools v4.03HE with SPTD v1.25 Nero 7 Ultra Edition v7.2.3.2b Alcohol 120% v1.9.5 (Build 4212) UltraISO Media Edition v7.6.6 (Build 1308) MacDrive v6.1.4 Questions 1.How can I tell if my PC supports SSE2 or SSE3? 2.Is this the right ISO to start with? 3.Can I install the Mac OS X on the SLAVE HD? 4.Does my PC support Dualcore? 5. If that is not the ISO that will work with my PC, which one shall I use? And where can I find it? Can anyone help me please Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/25/#findComment-150098 Share on other sites
tyre777
hi- this is a great guide!! add another to the counter mate!! successful install with 10.4.6 HOTISO on an ECS G556 laptop (855PM, 9700M) everthing works right off installation except wlan (of course) now just need to tweak the battery and add vid card drivers- currently using the Chain0 method- works really great!! tnx guys!! @kewl- ive had the same experience before- looks like ur dvd drive is not reading the dvd installer well- make sure you made a good image burn.. hmm MeMe Cub- why dont you natively install osx? just creat a partition off your main drive (doesnt take that much space- i used 15 gig- i have like 9 gig space left) and install via bootup with the osx dvd? - i tried using vmware before- but too many problems- just follow the guide mate!! check it out Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/25/#findComment-150156 Share on other sites

voggorb
I cannot boot into my newly installed jas 10.4.6. Booting into xp works fine both with acronis os selector, and windows os selector or whatever its called. But booting into osx doesnt work. I have tried with chain0, etc. My guess is that I have to set the osx partition to active, but I dont know how! There is no such option under advanced when I right-click the partition in the director suite. I have tried with partition magic 9, but there the option is greyed-out. Does anybody know how to make the partition active?? I assume that my xp partition is active, am I right? Rammjet
Try this: Go into XP 1. Click ‘START > Run…’ and type ‘diskpart’ (without quotes) 2. Type in (press enter after you typed in each line): list disk select disk 0 [or the actual number of your disk if not 0] list partition select partition 1 [or the actual number of your osx partition if not 1] active quit [or maybe it's exit] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/25/#findComment-150229 Share on other sites
Abrell
Glad to announce that i too got it working on my machine. I didnt do a 2 partition though. What I did was install OS X on my USB hard disk instead and its working just fine. I used the sse2-sse3 image. Here's my config: IBM ThinkPad T41 Intel Centrino 1.6Ghz 2 Gb RAM Intel Pro/1000 MT wired LAN works. Wireless does not. Anyone knows how to get the wireles working?? Sound works Video seems blurry but when I try to set the resolution, it indicates that is using 1024x768 which is the highest my TFT panel could go anyways. Great guide. Thanks! horst.schlemmer
Hey Fellows, i've finally made it ! I'm writing from Safari I didn't use Acronis Boot Loader for DualBoot, i did it a little bit different I've used the Mac.OS.X.Tiger.10.4.6.X86-HOTiSO ISO to install Mac OS X. I've created a logical FAT32 partition on my second hd, like the tutorial says, and booted from the DVD i've made before. The Installation starts up with no problems and i could install mac os x without any trouble. The only problem was, it took about one hour to install it. I installed all languages and printer drivers, i guess that was the problem, but also the status bar was sometimes very slow, seems to me like an DMA Problem or something? I dont care about anymore After finishing installation i've booted into windows an converted the logical partition into an primary partition an set it as active. After 25 minutes i was ready to fire up mac os x. I've restarted my pc and pressed F8 to choose the boot medium, i've selected my second harddisk and mac os x came up! Sweet! Here is my system in detail: Athlon64 3500+ Venice with SSE3 Support Asus A8V Mainboard, latest bios 2x512 MB DDR TwinMos running at 166Mhz in DualChannel Mode HIS X1600 Pro graphics Realtek pci lancard samsung hd 7200 maxtor hd 7200 (on this disk i've installed mac os x) Now i'll start of to install some apps and maybe the ati driver to have full support. My Only Problem i've got so far is, that when i click on "about this mac" mac os logs me automaticlly out? Did i installed a wrong patch ? I'll see later Good look and thanks for the tutorial! PS: and sorry for my not so great english typing skills Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/25/#findComment-150447 Share on other sites
madim
Using your procedure everything has gone well. I'm using mac os x 10.4.6 on a laptop IBM T42. I have 2 problems. The wireless card isn't detected, and and external sound card (emagic A26) doesn't work. I have installed the last drivers for emi A26 and max OSX but the system doesn't reach the card. Can anybody help me? Lt. Xenodite
MeMe Cub!: I can almost guarantee that the 4.37GB one is the right one (DVD-size gives it away for which one to download next time ) As for SSE2/3, I believe that CPU supports SSE3, so follow the guide, and when you get to the part about customizing the install, select the SSE3 pack (not the SSE2 pack). You don't really need to put Mac on the slave HD, in fact I think you need to put it on the master (or should, anyway), and you only need to give it 15-20 gigs (I gave mine 30). I can't tell if your CPU is dual-core unless I have the number (like 805, 630, etc.) Just follow the guide exactly, and in case you get a screen telling you to Insert Keyboard when you boot, go into BIOS and disable USB keyboard/mouse support so the Mac can use the resources Happy Mac-ing! cbmkgd
@KewL: tell us a bit more about your hardware: what mobo/chipset? What kind of hard drive (pata or sata?), etc. Example: motherboard with nForce4 chipset isn't well supported by osx when it comes with sata drives. if you have this hardware, it might be your problem. also if you installed on second drive and are using acronis os selector, for osx set acr. os sel. to make second drive the primary, so that osx thinks it's on primary drive (might help). cbmkgd
~ 0 Well, at least you don't have the nF4 chipset; although others have reported problems with sata support even with other chipsets. From "disk2s3" info bit you posted earlier, I guess you installed on a sata drive. Can you confirm this? (in words, not in pics ) Check also this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=22374 and this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=7216 for other possible reasons for the problem. cbmkgd
IDE (PATA) drives: connect to motherboard with large ribbons. SATA drives: connect to mb with small cable. It's not a definition of what these are, but how to recognize them visually. Rammjet
Motherboard is the main (usually largest) circuit board that runs the computer. Even without finding the motherboard, if you look at the back of the hard drive, you should see either a wide (lots of wires) flat cable coming out the back (that wouild be parallel ATA or PATA) or a much narrower, sorta flat cable (that would be serial ATA or SATA). The motherboard will be on the other end of those cables. cbmkgd
Ok, you have a pata disk, so we can rule out that problem. Might be the media, as in the links I gave above. /edit: hmmm... wait. The error you received mentioned "Disk2s3". I only see one hard drive on the photo. Tell me, did you use the install method in the first message of this thread? How many drives did acronis disk director see? choggie
This worked PERFECT! I was never able to dual boot before now. I used MacOSX_10.4.6DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso and had no problems burning or installing. I have had problems after I boot into OSX. 1. Onboard ethernet doesnt seem to be recognized (SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter) 2. Don't have sound. I have onboard AC97 I've looked through the forums and only found my etherent mentioned a couple of time but never a solution to fix the problem. If somebody could put some links to a post to help me out that would be appreciated. My hardware - Compaq Presario SR1320NX - AMD Sempron 3100+ 1.8 Ghz not SSE3 only SSE2 (shows up 3.6Ghz in OSX for some reason) - 512MB DDR Ram - Maxtor 80GB - Onboard SiS 760 Graphics (can choose 32, 64, or 128MB for shared memory currently set to 32MB - Sound and ethernet listed above I was suprised that 10.4.6 worked as good as it has so far. From what I read it wouldn't even install on my hardware but I never listen (glad I don't) If anybody has anybody has any clue why my CPU shows up as 3.6Ghz in OSX please let me know I don't know if it could possibly fry my CPU Thanks Once again Great guide Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/25/#findComment-151260 Share on other sites
